So, in the context of that usage, it is just fine. The song is about more than one person. For yong children, it might even be like a confusing trick question since there are boys in the music video. :) Just a note: I do have a sense of humor. :) It is funny that the song does say his( not her)!

@MegaZega93 - There's only one boy. I think you're referring to the little girl with an afro. Little, black girls are often shown with their hair braided in parts with cute clips at the ends, but afros weren't that uncommon back then. =)

The kids look so uncomfortable in their square. It looks fun with the music and the whole Brady Bunch effect, but take all that away and you have 1 nervous child sitting in front of a camera with a bunch of strangers staring at them for minutes in silence. XD
