The US uses a highly modified version(s) of the M16 now, just like how Russia's AK-74M is highly modified from the original AK-47.
Also, the M1 Abrams received massive upgrades throughout the 1990's and even the 2000's making them very different than the M1. Just as the T-90 could be considered, to a very vague extent, an massive upgrade from a T-72.
In all, no one uses old equipment.

Sure the US still has the more powerful military and NATO would back them, but Russia is not a week as you think. Not by a long shot. Also China would back them and the Chinese army is nothing is smile at.

you misunderstood me, i don't think that russia is weak but for sure it can't even think to win a war against the U.S., not to mention the whole NATO. Of course, there is no country able to conquer russia but this is not in the interest of anybody. The difference between NATO and russia ( and china) is that NATO has the means to pursue a war everywhere in this planet while russia has difficulties even in Georgia, a country on its border.

do not think that russian weapons are cheap, for example a T90 cost almost like an M1 Abrams.
If you do a simple google search you'll find that most of the russian military budget is spent for maintain their nuclear arsenal, and even some russian generals was disappointed about this fact when there was the invasion of Georgia, infact russian soldiers were poorly equipped.How pathetic, don't you think?

They don't have enought to Research for new weapons or equepiments. That don't have enought to Fund a proper Naval Force. USA have made a distinct part of US, a "strike force" of a huge scale and put a lot of it's assets in this distinct part, including a lot conventional weaponry, that was meant to be destroyed by an agreement with Russia of conventional forces decreases, which USA haven't done, but Russia did by destroying them. Now when NATO attacks someone, everyone should know that it's USA attacks, USA only drop it's load from itself to other side, which won't have a problem
