This is a speech that should be heard in every nation's capital. It is more timely now than ever before. What I find to be the most intolerable is the intentional corruption of what Eisenhower calls our "Spiritual Nature". Regretfully you are not being accurate enough in your interpretation of his words. Eisehower gradually became more progressive in his own life, this is the kind of maturation that all human beings undergo whilst they reflect and dare to introspect.

Wherever and whenever, we need conservative forces and progressive forces as well, in equal measures, like Ike is stating: it is all about the right balance.

Wow, what a speech, I've never seen anything but clips. It was interesting to hear the whole of his warning about "the military-industrial complex." But something that was equally interesting is the warning about the 'government-educational' complex (to parot his prior warning phrase). I wish I knew more about the context to know whether it was anti-intellectualism (like Nixon & Reagan) or a warning of how ideas can be made servants to the interests of the govt, or the power behind the govt.
