  • wow one of the greatest tenors ever we miss you Johnny

  • This song is so true!!! Does anybody know where I can find the sheet music to this song???? This video was recorded in Texas in 1974, and that is all I know?

  • This is real gospel music!!!!

  • wow he saaanngg!!! really high

  • In a world that is so unstable and unfulfilling, it is such a blessing to hear this message. Johnny was a great tenor and as believers, we need more songs like this that take our hearts and minds off of the world and put them on heaven. God bless.

  • preachernoe what can you say to a song and singer such as this it`s the best

  • wow, as a homosexual, i find the Goodmans to be so inpiring. Goodness does indeed lie inside each person. Thank you for this saving message.

  • @rfish54 Just because he has a tenor voice doesn't mean that he was a homosexual. I have a high voice, and I'm as straight as they come! Just a thought...this is God inspired music, not homosexual music. :-)

  • @rfish54 what makes you think he was gay??????

  • Wow what a pure and perfect tenor.....Johnny is great and altough he has gone home to Jesus..he is still blessing us .....Thank You for the Post love them. all..........I am a child of the King

  • Trememdous voice, extraordinary vocal ability to sing Tenor like no other! The songs of praise in Heaven is so much sweeter now that Johnny Cook is there! Thank you Johnny for serving your Lord and Master with your high notes !!

  • Great tenor. Watch him singing Looking For A City in a vocal duel with the marvelous Vestal Goodman.

    watch?v=rf8f32cDAXA

  • This song is nothin but the truth...We are nothing until we accept the God lives within us and we accept him as the Lord and Savior of our lives.

  • I agree 100% davedavedude, the late Johnny Cook "owned" the title even to this very day, of being the greatest "Tenor of all time". Thank God we are still being blessed with all the recorded Southern Gospel music treasures we have at out disposal today! Johnny's magnificent tenor talent is still winning souls with his stirring renditions of the gospel message. Listen to the recording of Johnny and Vestal singing.."That sounds like home to me..."

  • I'm sorry for asking. But, I need to know is Johnny still around?? He made it safe for me to believe.

  • No sadly(and happily) he is in glory with Jesus. He will be missed for but a little while

  • No he is no longer alive.

  • Johnny passed away in 2000. He is In Heaven with all the Goodmans and many more. honey he paved a way in Music to see souls saved and jesus died for us. You believ it is safe, God love you Bernising,, berni

  • I'm having difficulty understanding all of the lyrics. Would someone with a good ear be so kind as to post them for me? I'll give you a thumbs-up if you do. :-)

  • This is wonderful and Rusty? (not sure which was introducing Johnny) had it right what a rare gift. Like the bass with Ernie haase and ss!

  • the one introducing johnny was sam goodman, and the bass from ernie haase and signature sound is named tim duncan :)

  • I'v been listening to great quartets for 50 years. Johnny Cook was the best of the best.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • After the Happy Gooodman's Johnny went with Sam, Rusty and Tanya Goodman as a group. Then the Voices Triumphant, The Melody Masters, The Florida Boys and The Statesman. He was also Solo for sometime with his own bus. He pastored a church also. Go to Playlists on bernising and see his lineup. He was with several I can't remember now. bernising

  • calicoStar Thanks for this blessing of a song by Jonnie, We lost him too soon!!! David Phelps of the Gaither Vocal Band is the only one that can hit all of those high notes and hold them. Try them out

  • does anyone know where johnny went after the goodmans?

  • Johnny Cook was one of the best tenors to ever sing Southern Gospel Music. Voted the Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Tenor in 1974 & 1975, and Male Vocalist of the Year by the Gospel Music Association's Dove awards in 1976, Johnny Cook was a tenor's tenor. On the road since 1970, Johnny sang with The Songmasters, The Meadows Brothers, and most notably The Happy Goodman Family and The Statesman Quartet. He also enjoyed a great solo career producing many great albums. Johnny Died in 2000.

  • I have never heard his voice break on any song he sings. He was right on note no matter how high. I wish we had not lost him. But I know he is singing with the angels. I wonder how many souls he touched on his journey through life. Many, I believe. berni

  • not a great tenor...THE GREATEST TENOR...his voice was pure in anything he sang. I think he's the greatest tenor to ever stand on a platform...

  • I am so glad to hear you say that about Johnny. Because I think he was the best also. He was the best and could hold the pitch and note longer than anyone. He was the--- Voice-- the greatest Tenor. Sad , we have lost him, but Heaven gained a great singer. May he RIP, berni
