Seen them at phelps lounge in detroit . It was 1967 Little carl carlton was with them. Think we paid like two dollars to see them. My how thing's have change.
This was my favorite song when I was in 5th grade. There was also a funky filtered cigarette back in the day called Parliments. The memories just keep flooding back!!
I was in grade school when this became a hit. I lived in Somerset County and the Parliments lived next door in Union County. The Parliments grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey. Joisy boys!
You whoever you are wrong, this is the Holidays that George got to record with him because the other guys couldn't get the money for the airline ticket. You really are stupid. I've known these guys Parliaments for almost 40 years and know their children. GC is the only Parliaments that is on this record, I have the 45 several infact. Lynne
It is often noted that George Clinton auditioned for Motown and signed away the Parliaments band name...eventually leading up to the group becoming Funkadelic and signing with another Detroit label--Westbound.
The information on this record is not quite true, the group playing and singing is the Holliday (Holidays) from Detroit, George was the only one of the Parliaments that had the money for the air fair to get to Detroit. This is the real deal.
@lflanery My friend if you read the notes on my video it says the following at the foot: '(I Wanna)Testify actually only features George Clinton from The Parliaments. He recorded it with another group named the Holidays, as well as regular associate Pat Lewis'
@lflanery You are so wrong. This is the Parliments singing on the 1967 recording. This is not the Holidays or any other group, but The Parliments. Read the record label. You can also verify the information via Google.

Nice song, although I prefer the cover by Roger Tailor.

i want to comment and hope this is posted...
my first... and i may always remember it..
I.have an original vinyl 45 of this classic with the parliments identified as performers...
I don't think i could say i really would have lived without listening to this among other such rare, exhilerating sounds during the years...
these young men know how to bring it down...
and how to bring it home now...
this song sure has been delicious to me....
thank you... again...
- your pal

this is an exceptional song...
they don't make 'em like they used to...
and this rare tune demonstrates it... especially when they bring it down now...
and bring it home...
Other rare found sounds include "ido do" by the troggs...
i enjoy this song so much... and still have the original 45 vinyl single...
please don't let it go...
