  • i am suspicious of any church with displays such as this.

also, in minnesota, there is a Living Word Church, i guess it's televised....they have huge screens like this, televising the fake-tanned, pinky-ring wearing pastor.

and they have a christian "death metal" band, for lack of a better term.

    crazy....why isn't the congregration revolting?

  • and why does a church need this, what a waste of fucking money, go spend it where its needed.

  • So many, wilfully ignorant people in this world...

  • The club called, they wanted their LED display back...

  • But will it blend?

  • It's a concert venue at the Experience Music Project - funded by Microsoft's Paul Allen. Not a church. Has nothing to do with any particular faith.

  • God does not love you, unless you have a sick LED display.

  • I've been there

  • At least they have some flavor.

  • Genesis 1:3 - And God said, "let there be light-emitting diodes," and there was light-emitting diodes.

  • Its not actually a church... its just called sky church. Its in Seattle its kind of like a museum.

  • So you can buy 2 projectors and you get 1000000 LEDs? Seriously?

  • If that doesn't get ya into heaven, nothin will

  • Dayum, I wish my church was that cool.

  • Doesn't this moron know you stop shaking the camera at least one sacond during a video so you can at least get one unblured look at it.

  • I bet they got a discount for buying in bulk =D

  • ew church

  • God thinks humans are awesome for making LED's :D

  • Holy Shit!!!!! That thing must have taken forever to build.

  • Well you need some huuuuge donations for that 8)

  • The animation in the display is a representation of your money flying out of your pocket.

The program probably looks like this.

set a 0 in the outputs

    if donate, then deposit cash

  • is this in Seattle? the exibit close to Space Needle

  • Wow, what a church

  • What? No more Rolls Royce or Gucci Bags? I guess they had to spend the money on something? Charity? of course not!

  • Who is the manufacture?

  • oO wtf?

    jus 1 queshun.

    can i has awshumnes?

  • Madness

  • Cool

    But Waste of money

  • lol or maby not (nice)

    lol

    lol

    lol'

    lol

    lol

  • i could do that with 10 ppl

  • this thing requires 1.21 gigawatts of power lol

  • amazing!

  • I managed to count the leds. So there are 16 leds on width per column, the height is 36 times the with of the column and there are 46 columns.

To make it short the formula is:

    46*(16*(16*36)) = 423936 leds

I don't know about the cost of each led but if I would consider KnightlightUK's opinion of $0.2/led the cost of all the leds would of been:

    423936*0.2 = $84787.2

I want to make one to for my living room wall with a semitransparent white glass on top. It should look awesome.

  • Only one thing: WOW .__.

That you've got the time to do this kind of stuff, by the way.

  • Dont forget that their are 3 LED's per pixel.

  • You are close, but actually they are in groups of 4-5.

So the price would be either $339148.8

or $423936 depending on whether they are groups of 4 or 5.

  • @kona181 when you buy that many leds you can get them cheaper than 20 cents a piece, right?

  • Im sure in bulk they would be cheaper, however since ive never bought that many L.E.D.s i dont know.

  • @joshmusicbox Probably small surface mount LEDs, about 2-3 cents each in bulk.

  • give me money dude youre stinking rich

  • cool

  • thats a damn shame

  • Wow! how many watts is that pulling?

even @20milliAmps, its gotta be pulling some juice!

i was gunna say cool, but I think I better fly with "That's hot!"

Oh shit, I owe Paris another $1!

  • Run forest, Run!

  • Its like $1 each led for one color

Those are multi color that must cost least 1 million

  • There has to be at least 5 million led's there. More than a million, far more. It would have cost about 2 million just for the led's dont forget you have to have something driving the led's. A big mother of a computer, possibly a whole network of them.

  • You can take DVI from a standard PC, convert it to LVDS and pass it around a few subcontroller LED boards. Each display board has a mass of shift registers which is loaded serially. PWM on each LED controlled the brightness. LED's in that qty will be around $0.20.

  • Scratch and dent sale maybe?

  • fogerrrttyyyyyy

  • its like a NIN set.

  • HOLY CRAP!!! Those are all LEDs?!?!?! Thats amazing!

  • Oh, good God! This is not a church, folks; read the God-damned description! >:-P The "Sky Church" is part of EMP, a music museum in Seattle.

  • This what your untaxable donations are wasted on.

  • Ahh . Gives Me A headache

  • this is work of the devil.

  • You're the work of the devil.

  • there it is, your donation money!!

  • lolololololl

  • yeah, unfortunately some churches have started to turn thier services in to a show, and it comes with a price

  • its not really a church

  • wow, i need to go to church more often. i didn't know they do crazy light shows now.

  • agreed

  • you can also go see a live Nine Inch Nails show.

  • looks like someone is gonna do a special attack =]

  • That is huuuuge! And expensive. And kool. Very kool.

  • make it green and youll have matrix

  • mother fucker

  • i'd sooooooo wanna play halo, flight simulator and just cause on that xD

  • Hmmm...I've been there and I am pretty sure cameras are not allowed. lol

  • You're right, but this is actually just outside the entrance to the museum!

  • @balint256 yea and the EMP changed their rules on photos about 8mo ago.. It's OK now to photograph everything in the museum.. Just NO FLASH inside the Galleries. and photos have always been ok in skychurch.

i know all this because i work there.

  • Awesome :D

  • wow so thats wut the church does with my money

  • lol

  • You realize this is a music museum, and not a real church, right? The (auditorium style) room is called the church, but it's really just a hallway between the sci-fi museum and the gift shop of the music museum.

It's a really cool room, very trippy. Plus it has laser lights and random things on the ceiling.

  • thats cool

  • @SGT4EVA :)

  • Pretty much LED's xDD

  • woah
