  • Frank DeVol wrote the theme music to many of the popular tv shows during the 50s and 60s. Don't know about Colin Bailey in the Tonight Show Orchestra. That drummer was always Ed Shaughnessey, unless when Ed wasn't there and they had a fill-in drummer.

  • Studio guitar great Mr. T.Tedesco

  • It's funny the drummer Colin Bailey always stole the show in every musical number and was always the clown of the band BUT he was the only band member that did NOT get introduced or have any solo recognition, the other 3 were called over to the couch to be interviewed alone, but NEVER Colin. He told me on the phone there was supposed to be an act featuring him alone BUT the woman writting the script got sick and it was canned sadly.

  • ROFL!!!! Wasn't Happy Kyne the same guy who used to be one of the Indians on F Troop?

  • Thank you for confirming Happy's last name...this scene makes it even more amazing he also did the music for shows like MY THREE SONS, FAMILY AFFAIR, and THE BRADY BUNCH.

  • Frank De Vol was a very successful film and TV composer.

He was also a very successful comic actor.

He's pop up all over the place including Get Smart.

  • Thanks billga2010. Duenge is correct, the drummer was on the Tonight Show. I was watching some old clips in tribute to Carson and I saw the drummer doing this thing and I was like "oh my god".

  • I'm the first viewer!!!!...Drummer use to be on the tonight show with Carson.

  • @duenge I love that guy ! Didn't know he was on Carson show.

  • @billga2010 The drummer is Colin Bailey.

  • @G8GT364CI According to the bio on his website, Colin Bailey also played on A Charlie Brown Christmas with Vince Guaraldi.

  • @nimbusco Colin Bailey played with everybody and is still active, check out his website. All those guys were known in their own right for other things, the accordion player Frank Maroco has his own website, Tommy Tedesco, guitar was also very well known but I haven't been abler to find anything on the bass player yet.

  • @G8GT364CI The Bass player is Eddie Robertson. I don't think he was really a musician, He was a celebrity, I THINK he was on a few episodes of Leave it to Beaver. But I spoke to Colin Bailey on the phone once and he said Eddie just STRUMMED on the bass guitar and didn't actually play it lol. He said the always had their roles in the band. Colin was the clown, Tommy was the tough guy, Frank was the level headed one, and Eddie was the softie lol

  • @littlebit19801 I got an email from Colin too a while ago he did say they were not hired because of their musicianship it was because of personal attributes. They were all great in their own right though.

  • @G8GT364CI That's cool, I emailed Frank Marocco and found out who the drummer was through him. The drummer always stood out to be me b/c he acted so crazy but he was the only one who was NEVER interviewed.

  • @duenge That is Colin Bailey I got to speak to him on the phone once, he is REALLY nice :)
