12 cops were given the choice of going to a domestic arguement at paddington or harrassing some pushbike riders. Cops fucking hate domestic arguements because they don,t consider themselves as social workers and don,t give a fuck if two people can,t live together. Harrassing a few bike riders is easy for them and they can have a bit of a laugh back at the station over a cup of tea.

it was a ride in brisbane with less than 20 riders. there where 17 police, plus more back up. for a social event (which didn`t even take place)

i think if the police checked out any of the bikes that are doing the brisbane river ride,they will find more than 1000 cyclists with out bells every single day

Look at the posted videos. If you see 'these offences occurring every day' do you contact police?, as you are obligated to do. The tyres were NOT let down voluntarily, that is a cops spin on things. The tryes were let down by the order of the police so the riders would not be tempted to ride their oh-so-illegal-bell-less-bicycl­es home. Some riders WERE fined for lack of bells, again police lies.

As was seen in the introduction to this video, there were numerous times that the rider was seen to go through red lights..... why wait for more laws to be broken?

On no occasion did a police officer let down a riders tyers, each rider did so voluntarily????

finally, no chargers were laid against any of the riders, I believe that prevention is a more constructive action for our police service to take rather than lay charges, & associated court costs for tax payers & offenders.

These riders are not above the law, when you show up to take part in a race that openly flouts the road rules you can expect a police reaction. The start of the video even shows a participant blatantly running red lights. There are plenty of bike paths that would be empty at that time of night but instead organisers choose routes which encourage a breaking of the road rules and you wonder why police show up

But by deflating the tires, they can't wheel their bikes away. Do the police let down the tires on cars they don't want driven also? Watching them carry away their bikes on their shoulders is ridiculous.

Lastly, if they were caught going through red lights then they should have got tickets for that - but it's clear the police don't have any evidence of wrong-doing.

That wasn't actually a rider in a race tho that was the bloody camera man. On one of the thursday nights previous. I think there was only one red like with a rider in front and that was at 12secs and he skid stopped.

But the riders were not prosecuted for going through red lights.

They were gathered on the side of the road. It seems slightly over the top to deflate their tires so they can't push their bikes home, and put their inner tubes at risk of puncture.

Maybe you should have just locked them up on suspicion for the hell of it?

It's an embarrassment, it looks like Louisiana.

Or perhaps the organisers should have approached police and arranged for a permit and hold the event on a route that doesn't encourage the breaking of road rules. Global Gutz is well known for the flouting of road rules and attracts a significant number of complaints from the general public and general cycling community. Police generally give cars defect notices, fines and order them off the road. Perhaps you would have preferred that?

Face it, everyone knows exactly what the race involves, you got off lightly this time... no fines...no bikes seized. Next time would you prefer that the police follow you through the course and issue $100 fines for each and every breach of the road rule because I can assure you that will be the next police response. Approach the police in that area and ask them to work with you I can guarantee that they will work with you to run a legal race.
