  • how bout some new vids?

  • This is a great video

  • great video thanks

  • really informative and interesting

  • some sweet info here

  • love the video man

  • Is #16 your most recent video in this series at this time (12/2011)?

  • Yeah, linseed oil on cotton in a jar when the sun is shining. Not too much oil, just wet the cotton good and then drain it out. Now then, if you leave the jar without the top it will spontaneously combust. If you screw the lid on the jar it will not but it will char the cotton. Try it.

  • Hey rob. Sh**. And shit.

  • make some vids on friction with sticks and the bow method

  • UNGA BUNGA!!! super vid again!!

  • i love the videos you made, you are amazing dude!

  • droe beest drol? Hahaha, it literally means 'dry beast shit'. Gotta love how that south-african sounds like.

  • I lol'd at the end

  • It always makes me happy when i see a new video from you. :)

  • Rob thanks for the info. Yes Ive tried it and it works! Have won a few beers in bets showing the non believers. Keep up the good work

  • i m only on #16....where is the rest of the awesome fire making videos Rob?

  • Man, Rob, I love your fire videos n shit! Keep em comin bro!

  • I think your videos are great!

But I was wondering if you could show us ways to make fire without any sunlight.

    Congratulations on your work!

  • @jjhidd

    Lots on the way....

Next up might be spontaneous combustion.

There are a few already that don't rely on sunlight, though.

#14 in the series uses a pocket knife, for instance.

  • Thanks for the reply Rob with a b. Makes sense that the tinder fungus should be better darker and growing on trees with oily seeds. I like watching videos like yours. There is always something new to learn from others. Much appreciated.

  • @Stalag5

    Thanks

Recently made a fire with a taser gun. Debating whether I should zap myself for comedic effect.

  • Hey Rob. This is Rob here. Just a quick question. Do you know the name of the particular tinder fungus you used and which tree you cut it from? I would love to know. Keep up with the videos and ignore anyone without a sense of humour.

  • @mamatheka

I don't know the names of the fungi. I tend to collect them wherever I go. I suspect this one came off either a avocado tree or a macadamia nut tree. Almost ANY bracket fungus seems to work as smouldering ignition tinder for a solar concentration fire. Some work better than others. Generally, the finer the fibers the better they will work. Darker colours also are preferable as they absorb the light better.

There seems to be an advantage to using fungus from a tree with oily seeds?

  • LMAO...omg..... hahah the tourist....hahah i love his acting! loved this video! actually- i love all of your videos!

  • @lottabottle05

Thanks. The tourist here was played by a guy called Joey Kinder. If you google him you'll see he's quite a well-known professional climber.

Also just a very funny guy.

  • shows my ignorance at thinking eucalytus trees were only found in australia lol, proves that rob is teaching me MORE than just how to ake fire outta well, shit lol

  • @V8VRUte

Indigenous to Australia but pretty common here in some areas. Bit of a pest, actually.

  • @ROBwithaB then again, first time i saw your vids, i did think you were australian lol, probably the closest to an australian accent i have heard anywhere in the world, so thats good enough for me, i regard you as a top bloke :)

  • @V8VRUte Pfft...typical patriot.

  • @V8VRUte hes from south africa

  • oh man! i think im falling in love with roberta <3

  • @chostany

You don't want to go there, trust me.

    She has some serious issues.

  • Major LOL at the end

    Another great vid thanks DUDE!

  • @SocialistDemocracy

    Cheers. More on the way.

  • @ROBwithaB You are a legend!!! Can you make a video of the best way to make a campfire? Like lets say fire isn't a problem its just a matter of trying to get the most out the firewood. Like best way to stack wood etc. Thank you!

  • @notfunni

I'll give it a shot sometime. I must warn you that it is likely to get all sciencey though.

  • Love the John Lennon sun glasses. Tell me,how close have you been to burning your hat? All looked good.

  • @mork599

Been thinking of doing a remake of that Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial.....

  • lol I was trying to light horse litter this week-end. I was only able with a match. Can you light it directly of need the indirect technic you use??

  • @TheMountainRN

If it's dry enough it's pretty easy to get it going. A slightly bigger magnifying lens, and slightly drier dung, and I would have gone straight for a direct approach.

I have a giant elephant turd that I collected in the Kruger Park, just waiting for an opportunity to star in a video.

  • Find your own man bitch!! LOL Roberta gets better looking everytime.

    Cheers from Texas mate.

  • @EDINBURGSTAR

    Cheers, mate.

Yeah, personally I think she likes the limelight a bit too much. Might have to send her back to the kitchen....

  • humans... they crack me up sometimes ^_^

  • @zws1922

    An odd species indeed.

  • you got to less viewers :D love your vids

  • @Yaznar70

Feel free to share the videos with your friends.

  • haha, nice!

  • @ArtisanTony

    Thanks.

  • you fill out that bikini quite nicely.

  • @jenzatron

Chest hair makes for good padding.

That's my little beauty secret for the day.

  • Oh boy, Roberta got all mad with the blondie girl! You are one of the greatest - if not the greatest - youtube entertainers! I love your videos, man, please try to keep them coming!

  • @kerozenimus

I'll try to get them out more regularly. Certain developments currently underway might make this easier.

    Stay tuned.....

  • This was not only interesting but funny ass hell!!

  • @hatemeproductions

Joe is a natural comedian. Most of his lines were completely improv And sht,

  • great work

  • @darkmasterftwlal

    Thanks.

  • nice vid, and beautiful scenery as well!

  • @targetbuttmonkey

It's a pleasant part of the world.

    Good climbing too.

  • @simahasas

A lot of it was spoken too.

  • Great video Rob. Lots of excellent tips again.

  • @seanmulhall

    Cheers, mate.

Stay tuned for the "spontaneous combustion" one I'm busy editing atm.

  • So water = fire when you need it...

Is that why Bear Grylls drinks piss?

  • @phector2004

When I make the condom fire I'm going to try to use urine to form the lens.

  • The shots of your bikini clad she-goat lady friend have extirpated my optical pathway. Doc says vision may return someday and (for now) to look away during you're videos.

  • If that girl is wherein a wig...I want to marry her...Oooogaa BoooGa...!!!

  • @Postofficejoe

I hope you're talking about the pretty blonde girl and not the hairy one wearing a bikini.

  • Yes...Where can we get sexy bottles

  • one of my favs youv done yet haha

  • @HWEisRISING

    Thanks. More on the way.

  • Lol. Good one Rob.

  • whered you get a bottle shaped like that

  • @ithaley Probably Africa.

  • @ithaley

They're quite common here in South Africa, as packaging for fruit juices. The rounded part at the top is usually covered in an opaque, heat, shrink layer of plastic that looks like the skin of a fruit. Gimmicky packaging concept, but very useful for starting a fir.

Various water bottles have a section at the top that will work well as a lens. The "Pump" brand used to work very well, but they've added a pattern on theirs now, precisely because of the fire risk, I suspect.

  • @ROBwithaB How tall are you?

  • So was that a crack at Americans or something? lol Nice vid, never would of thought that. I’ve always wondered if I could use my eyeglasses to concentrate the sun enough.

  • @Mikeasskicker

Reading glasses work well - the higher the magnification the better. Prescription "corrective" glasses usually won't form a discreet focal point.

With 1.5 magnification reading glasses it's a bit tricky, because the focal point is a bit too big and far away from the lens. It requires a steady hand and particularly good smigtin (smouldering ignition tinder) usually in the from of a "hairy ball".

With 3X magnification, it's a piece of cake.

  • Can you make a fire using this biatch 4:00? She's hot, hehe.

  • @BrokenAeroVT

    @BrokenAeroVT

Bear in mind, however, that her fiance is one of the best rock climbers in the world. His handshake is enough to bring a grown man to his knees.

(She's pretty strong too, actually. Would probably kick my arse all on her own.... )

But yes. An attractive young lady, certainly.

  • NICE!

  • lol the swearing guy

  • That was cool.....and shit.

  • its been awhile iv been missing this stuff

  • Classic

  • first xD
