  • Hey I downloaded this but I didn't understand the readme file so I don't know how to get it running can somebody help me

  • @OwnMania Ignore this version. Play the one on the UDK Showcase website.

    This version is old.

  • @Demruth what's the url?

  • @OwnMania udk.com

  • @Demruth thank you so much! if you were right here by me I could hug/kiss you

  • amazing game dude, some of the puzzles were really fun and challenging, can't wait for the full release :D , found the puzzles more difficult than portal too, portal was way too simple at times

  • Hello, this looks like a fantastic game! I downloaded the standalone version but I'm having a bit of trouble with it... it crashes after the splash-screen appears and gives vague errors. I'm assuming it's a hardware thing. I'll let you know how it turns out.

  • I've heard of a couple of people having issues like this. I will update the version of the UDK I am using at some point and see if that fixes the issue for anyone. I have a feeling that some of this may be the UDK failing to initialize as I've heard others with the problem, but we'll see.

  • Could you at least write a text FAQ? I'm stuck on the Yellow Wall puzzle, among others.

  • Email me, and I am more than happy to help you out. I never wrote a walkthrough for this version of the game, because I always intended to make a superior experience in the commercial version. A heap of stuff has changed since the mod, so a walkthrough is going to be incorrect now. I had to always keep working on the development of the actual game for deadlines, competitions etc.

I'm more than happy to help you though if you contact me directly. My email is on my website. Can't post it here.

  • How are the levels modeled? Looks like you could use Sketchup to create the geometry pretty fast. You have any experience in Sketchup and using exported models in a game engine?

Looks fantastic btw! :) You should make a Hazard 2 as well, with nice and fun graphics . Perhaps you'll end up in an oasis that just looks fantastic. Or at the bottom of the sea, or atop Mount Everest? :) THAT could have been endless gameplay. Or have user created content! Man, that WOULD make the game endless! :)

  • Everything is built using Unreal Engine 3. The trailer was taken back when the game was still a mod of Unreal Tournament 3, but the commercial game is being created using the Unreal Development Kit.

As for Hazard 2, we'll see how this game goes. It's not out of the question for the distant future, but once this game is finished I will have a number of shorter experiments that I need to create first.

    I need a break :)

  • Understandable that you'd need a break! Must have been some tedious work behind it. But this game will get PR value, much like Braid. People love these kinds of games :) Just as long as they know it exists. I'll try to spread the word :)

  • Brilliant!

  • So i'm looking forward standalone version :)

  • How to run it under UDK?

  • @Mati20041 You can't yet. I haven't released a UDK version for people. When the game is released standalone, all you would need to do would be install it from the installer, and then run it.

  • That looks pretty fucked up, will have to give it a go at some point! =

  • demruth is the final release going to be a ut3 mod?

i must play this even if i have to buy the trash that is ut3

  • No. The final release is going to be a standalone UDK game. I already have it standalone. I'm now just working on making it more awesome every day. :)

More info when available. I'll have more trailers etc. when the time comes, though I'm working on a demo first!

  • oh sweet. congrats on even getting where you are now, i know making a game is insanely stressful and exhausting let alone one as creative as this.

my spine tingled watching this trailer.

    no homo

  • @Demruth

Does it mean I will be able to play it without having Unreal Tournament?

    This would be awsome!

I hope it works on my 1gb ram, Ati 9800 pro (from 2004 or so) system. :)

  • Yes you would be able to play the game without owning Unreal Tournament. You will not require any additional programs to play the final commercial release of Hazard. All you will need is the game itself.

I'm not sure if it would work with the specs you have given, as it is still an Unreal Engine 3 game, but you won't require any additional software. Just the game itself.

  • can you help me on how you get the third gun becuase i used to be able to do it until you added the bubble bits :(

  • Sure. I added the bubble bits because jamming doors open was not the solution I wanted at all. The real solution is to connect the 5 door tiles in one chain, and then make the bigger half yourself.

When you cut the entire chain in half, the "short tail" contains the 5 door openers, and they'll open one after the other. Don't push against the doors as they open, because you may stop them from opening.

It's not the best puzzle right now, and will be fixed properly in the standalone release.

  • When im trying to open the game, it says that I need UT3.exe so how can I get it?

  • The version that is currently available on my website is an Unreal Tournament 3 modification. Therefore, you require Unreal Tournament 3 in order to play it. A standalone version is coming, but is not going to be available until 2010. Unfortunately, you're going to have to wait for that to be finished until you will be able to play it if you do not have Unreal Tournament 3.

But that's ok. The final version will be better anyway!

  • Argh! I have no idea how to get the 2nd gun. I know where it is, just can't solve the puzzle.

  • I really hope you're talking about the gun above A Physical Obstacle (push cube), not the one after Don't Always Need 100 Percent (laser grid door).

If that's the case, keep at it. You'll work it out. It's a hard puzzle for people to solve, but it makes perfect sense once you understand it.

  • Hey, thought I would say that I was just at the eGames expo here in Melbourne, and I saw this game at one of the booths.

  • I would guess that it would have been at the Swinburne booth.

I personally had to turn down the opportunity to show it off at eGames myself, because I had too much other stuff in the way right now.

  • Shame, it would have been great to meet you in person.

  • i couldnt get this game to work

  • Email me. Youtube doesn't want to let me post my email address, but it's on my site, which is linked from the side.

  • can't get to work the rifle that user middle mouse button (it doesn't react at all)

i trying to move a snake of blocks and i havo no ammo

should i tweak smth in UT3

    thx in advance

  • Argh. A recurring theme.

If you're shooting Green Tiles, then no, you've skipped a level and done what a number of other people have done and brute forced your way through some puzzles, rather than doing the intended solutions.

Go to "A Physical Obstacle", lock the block back with a tile, stand on the platform, steal the block, and then jump off the platform while it is moving, so that you throw yourself higher.

Work out how to do the puzzle up there and you'll get the "second" gun.

  • It's awesome, I really like it, but I'm stucked -_-

I explored 26 rooms, but haven't found this "gun" yet...

    Oh it's so annoying...

Can't you give me a clue?.. Just a litte little little one??

  • Sure. For you and everyone else who gets stuck at the same point, until I make video walkthroughs.

It's in Darkness. There's a path shown on the map that you haven't walked.

  • O.O

    I MUST PLAY THIS GAME

  • Looks very interesting and thought-provoking. Do you have any plans to release a version compatible with the PS3 version of UT3?

  • I would certainly like to try and pursue this becoming something that doesn't even require UT3 if it's a possibility. I'll be seeing what I can work out.

  • I'm playing this right now...

    Its good, very good!

If the minor graphic glitches and frame rate were fixed, it would be perfect.

  • wow!! nice speach. makes me want to play it

  • Wow! I'm also facinated by "life" itself. This game looks very interesting to play and the atmosphere looks and feels great. It's on my games-to-play list!

  • I'm glad you like it. It will be available in a couple of days.

  • nice different game! hope it gets picked up

  • This looks really cool!
