yes so melodic, fantastic vocalist, great pionist also, went to her funeral in blackpool a few years ago,i do love girls who dont have to shout to the top!,this is proper singing or am i to old now? johnny walker.
Good Golly, Miss Polly !!! What happened to the last chorus? Chris Warren had to laugh, not like you to mix up your vocals. However this version is probably the best one that was done. Was it the wallpaper dress or the Dusty Springfield wig that was on your mind because the lyrics were'nt ? Just kidding Polly Broon still enjoy listening.
I do not care. PLEASE young people what I want for you is to LISTEN to simple MEANINGFUL Lyrics. Polly Browne, MAM, thank you for your music. In my imagination(without ANY other thoughts)(for the IDIOTS among us) The song Title and the MODERN presentation are SKILLED. THANK you for Dance ME.
This is what i call a GREAT pop song, the keyboards and violin, catchy tune, non stop movement by Polly, love the medieval dress haha, this song is very addictive. What an incredible voice Polly Browne has !
aside from polly, one thing i have always really loved about pickettywitch is the harmonies and the background vocals. they sound so complex and lush. i am greateful to youtube and all of you generous posters for these treats
Great song, Polly Brown had a major crush on her, would walk to school wondering how I could get to meet her. Having watched this again I swear that's Roy Walker in a wig next to her. Love it Thanx.
I remember this group, they were better than I remember them, Polly was a charming singer , takes me back, mum and dad were alive and well then, happy days.
@thatmuse76 I know it was the 70's, but there was alot of 70's fashions that looked really good. Look here on youtube at any Mac and Katie Kissoon videos, her dresses were GORGEOUS. This just looks like a patchwork quilt that got hit with a weed whacker! But once again, LOVE LOVE LOVE the song, and she sounds incredible.
I absolutely adore Dionne Warwick.....It didn't strike me at all really 'til I read some of the comments on here how much "Polly" sounds like her......A wonderful singer!!
The music is like what I felt ,but must move on as life goes on and on till God's Kingdom arrive Safe at last ! Love hurts like a movie as the song says....Life is Life
only now that I hear this song nice song with her nice voice too so nice , but it stop stop here in youtube ,any way thanks YouTube great songs, it cool's me up !
If "Ever" there was a lady "Blessed" with a "Beautiful Voice" then its Polly Browne!! And Polly is back!! With a "Fab" new recording of "Honey Honey 2009. Check it out on YouTube!!
i heard she took ill,,that illness which the person has to spend time ina germ free environment ,,dont know if its true tho,, or what the ailments called sorry,,
no i meant their was a series of albums from 1968 till 1982 called the totp albums they weren't even sung bu the original artists but this song was on an early album
Macaulay would NEVER have let Polly Brown sing like this (per the liner notes from all the CD's) so where the hell did this version come from? I have every vinyl and CD version I thought was ever released of both Picketywith and Polly Brown but I have NEVER heard this version of SOKaM before. Where can I get this version?
This is from BBC`s Top Of The Pops ! In 1966 the BBC initially banned any artists from miming on the show saying they had to sing live. As it wasnt always possible to recreate a `single` live , the BBC compromised whereby a specially recorded backing track was permitted but those on the rerecorded track had to be in the TV studio . This practice continued until 1980. So basically all TOTP performances from 1966 to 1980 are different from the hit singles of which this is one.
These were happy days, I always fancied her as did most kids back then, I also liked a track she did called ...your my number one, Thanks for posting it
Wow I always thought Polly Brown was black! Up In A Puff Of Smoke was a semi hit for her in 1975 here in the states. She sounds so much like Diana Ross's replacement in The Supremes Jean Terrell. So much that Polly could've pulled off singing Stoned Love and no one may have noticed it wasn't Jean.
But all these soulful Girls like Duffy, Amy and Sharleen now have taken place in the good soulful & dynamic tradition of our silk-brown sisters & brothers.
Back when this was in the charts, I'd made a shortwave radio with the Philips electronic engineer kit to hear RNI (the MW transmission was being jammed), and this was my favourite of the records then being played. Still love it!
Wow .. that's amazing .. I also had one of those Philips electronic engineer kits ... those were great .. still have some of those templates I've kept .. they take you right back to that time
Polly is really the stuff surely.

-) You see,not the name makes the music-,
Girls like Polly Brown does it :-)
We found out:
The name Pickettywitch is often said to have been taken
from a Cornish village through which their eventual lead singer,
Polly Brown, had passed with her sister;in fact, there is no such village,
though there is a pub of that name at Yeovil in Somerset.
