I'm a aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, I see F22's all the time. They have a very distinctive sound. I don't have to see them to be able to tell what type of fighter jet they are.

I was there in 2006 therefore unfortunatly missing the Raptor, but getting F-16, F-15, and couple of other 'F Series' jets i think. I saw the Star- something and it took me by surprise cause it came from behind and I actually jumped and was scared shitless.

jks, consider this: If the Raptor was on a bombing run - where it needs its stealth - it would be flying in a straight line VERY fast on a direct path to the target. You can only hear it loud casue it is all over the place. Also, even if the target heard it, then would not have the time to prepare and shoot Ground to Air missiles or send out an intercepter!

Here's a question for anyone at CIAS 2007.

Why did the announcers keep referring to this show as the first time the F22 had appeared there?

2 Raptors opened the show in 2006.

1 performed, while a second circled out over the lake, before they both headed off to the Cleveland show.

outside of the U.S. In 2006 they came to Toronto but never landed here,i went to go see them parked in 2007 at Pearson and they had army there with M-16 guarding the hangar they were in.

That remains to be seen. The U.S.A.F has to create the most advanced fighters in the world in order to maintain air superiority in current and future battlefields. US fighters have to be superior to all because world events can change and the superb Eurofighter could end up in enemy hands! Also, the Eurofighter cannot approach the Raptors post stall agility. Everything else is still classified. But, time will tell!

That is my impression - they are both outstanding performers but within vastly different speed envelopes. Makes it hard to compare them.

I remember near the begining of the show when an F-16 was flying about 1000 feet of the deck and literally shook the ground when it passed by. But the F-22 was awsome!! The pilot did some crazy stuff!!!

Thanks for the comments! Actually, I tried using a tripod & a monopod but there wasn't enough flexibility of movement to capture the planes - so instead its me holding the camera, both hands, and using my body as a 'human tripod'.

What an amazing day. Couldnt have asked for better weather. Said it before and I will say it again best airshow performance I have ever seen. What an amazing airplane, been waiting a long time to see it perform, and was it ever loud.

It was the loudest plane there later it flew side by side with a p-51 mustang and a f-16 to show the past, present, and future for the USAF This is the first great camera of it nice job

Last years F-22A appearance at the CIAS wasn't a demo. 2007 is the first year for an official F-22A demo team. In both cases the F-22A made it's first appearance and demo at an air show outside of the USA at the CIAS.
