Thankful I can use IE 8 still. What was the thinking of moving the favorites icons to opposite sides of the screen. I still click the wrong one and keep adding unwanted icons to my favorites bar. Another big mistake is taking away the separate search bar. I do not use Bing, bang or whatever and never will. Thanks that google has a fix still to make it the default search engine. I am also glad i saved all my sidebar gadgets as someone thought they should get rid of that concept, another mistake.

Wow, they seriously copied Google Chrome. (i.e. the "drag a tab out to convert into a new window". the minute you opened it I could tell it was from Chrome. Internet Explorer/Microsoft get you're own style. Do something that hasn't already been done, because now you guys are copy-cats and are just trying to play "catch-up" with everyone else
I recently switched from Chrome to IE9 to give it a shot, it's brilliant, totally great it's already given me several options which were not available in other browsers that I find useful, the ONLY problem I have with it are the lack of spell check (even though you can easily install a add on) and the silly looking cut off back button, but apart from that it's brilliant I must say.
@nargarothfreak666 Then go chance it to Windows 95, no one forcing you to use Windows 7 :) But i see what u mean about Microsoft releasing the official stuff when it's really a BETA. But IE9 is actually way better than the previously versions. I tested all browsers in speed. Opera is the fastest webbrowser, then comes Chrome, and Firefox, Safari and IE9 had the same speed.

@nargarothfreak666 I have been using Google Chrome for almost 2 years and it's a really good browser, but i know why Opera is faster. It's because its loading the pages in really bad quality. If Chrome did the same it would be twice as fast as it is now. Before IE9 i used Google Chrome, but IE9 is good enough for me now, it's easy, simple, stable and fast, but i don't really care what people are using as their browser, i actually like all 5 browsers, they are all unique in each way :P
@Opadome Avsolutely agry with you! I tried all browsers too... and decided, that IE9 is good enough for me. I have not to install 3-party browser, cause any of tham have no does not have these advantages over IE9 toinstall them in addition to clutter up my computer.

IE9 sucks. All the IE's suck. Microsoft better stick to making OS's. Firefox 4 is the best. I tried it. Very fast even over my crappy EDGE connection on my PC via my cell.
I've been playing with IE9 for a month or two and it really is a good improvement. I'm curious about Fire Fox 4.0 though so I can't say I'm ready to switch. But I would prefer IE9 over Chrome or Oprah.
Its huge weakness is that Xp users are being left out to dry. So on my laptop it looks like I'm going to be sticking to Fire Fox for some time.
It's all about chrome. Ie is always super slow cluttered and retarded. Even tho this isn't as cluttered, it's probably still slow. Ie also prob has a shitty dwld manager, as always.
I hate Microsoft, they suck and shoudent even try anymore. Bill Gates is gone so just give up guys! Google Chrome is better and I personally like Safari better as well (the only reason is because its from apple)
I downloaded mine and it wont play you tube videos. I keep on installing the Flash player but it just won't work. Can anyone tell me how to fix that please?
Everyone is saying that IE9 and Firefox 4 are copies of Chrome. So they're copies for seeing something good (minimizing space) and trying to put their own twist on it in a way that will still get people to use it?
This isn't new.. Internet explorer is finally catching up on what it has been missing for years... Internet explorer was always a backwards browser this only makes it slightly less backwards...
Sooo... Microsoft basically saw the success of Google Chrome's clean / uncluttered look and copied it... When will we actually see some innovation in the tech industry? Anyone else tired of incremental change?
Safari and chrome are alot better. They use webkit and render JavaScript alot faster, hence webpages load faster. Also, dragging the URL into the task bar to create an app out of the webpage is nothing new. Both google prism and fluid do a better job getting the task done and even let you customize the image of the icon before making it an app.
It would look much better if they moved the icons up in line with the exit, maximise and minimise buttons... Google Chrome did it, there's basically no title in the title bar, so I don't see why they haven't :S
@05sykesj Internet Explorer was the first browser in the world, so actually all other browsers are copies of IE. Also, tell me what Microsoft did "copy" from Google Chrome.. It's two WAY different browsers. I have no idea how u got 8 thumbs up on that comment... probably Chrome fanboys. I'm not a big fan of Internet Explorer myself, i'm using chrome and safari, but IE9 and Chrome is WAY different.
Wow you have a lot of apple fanboys on your site lack with all their "it's still not safari ". You guys think ie is junk, get the news so is safari it sucks, if you had of said chrome, opera or firefox I could understand but safari give me a break!
I've been beta testing for a while, and I quite like it. At this point, nothing will pull me away from Chrome, but I think IE9 is the best next alternative. Firefox is way too slow at this point.
i need to retest the final release, but the candidate was very disappointing, even a die hard IE fan like myself just resorted to firefox, ie9 just fails, I could not play GTAIV because of it! only ie could do that
Just the sight of Windows is making me sick... I hate the way Microsoft has taken the OS and GUI. They are taking the toolbar (File, Edit, View, etc...) out of everything. It started with Office. And the GUI is just ugly imo.
Wow. I've been using Firefox for years, and have recently switched over to Chrome, but IE9 might just become my second browser. Definitely going to give it a try.
...I can't believe I'm actually saying that I'm going to use IE, at all. lol!
You forgot to mention that pinning a compatible site allows you to use jumplists with it! I've been using IE9 off and on since the beta and I'm really enjoying it, this coming from a once very deticated chrome fan!
IE ver. 9 or 90=no.Chrome is fast and sleek and if it crashes for a video fault i.e. it only crashes that page and Chrome keeps on ticking.Restore last pages and ext.'s and other perks and IE is a ghost.Firefox is Ok and Safari is barely usable,so I'll stick w/ Chrome thx you very much.
Man, when IE finally gets an download manager it's BAD and HUGE, useless eye-candy.. It don't have an processbar and no filetype-icon beside of the name. Man Firefox's default is small, simple, have processbar and got an search ....
- I can drag the fav-icon from Safari/Firefox/google Chrome on my mac to the desktop or the dock... nothing 'new' imo...
It looks like an uglier copy of Chrome, with less security and addons, slower speeds, and a bookmark feature that nobody is going to use because nobody wants to clutter their taskbar with web shortcuts.
@PoliticalHell Hi, this is nobody! You have no imagination. Imagine having Pandora in your taskbar without having to pay the fee for the app. Or a link to Twitter, gMail or Google Docs. Websites that you use everyday.
@korwinblue Hmm. Or you can do what everyone already does, have one button to open the browser, and automatically restore or load your most frequent or favorite pages. You know, that feature that IE doesn't have.
@PoliticalHell I seem to recall you being able to open multiple homepages in IE8 at once. Me, I have many Tabs open at once. It's good to know that I'll always be able to quickly go to my Facebook/Twitter/email just by moving my mouse down to the taskbar. Or accidently closing the browser window that has those sites. My browser tabs won't be as cluttered.
@korwinblue Well I'm not going to argue with you seeing as it is your opinion, and all the power to you. However, Chrome already has a lot of these features integrated, such as restoring tabs from history if you close entire windows, etc. If you choose to enjoy this feature over the benefits of other browsers, then that's your choice, obviously. In my opinion, though, IE is a piece of crap, and always has been.
@PoliticalHell I've actually tested the speed of ie & it's faster than chrome, as for security how do you know that especially when they've gone towards improving it this release, and yes it doesn't have all the features chrome has but I still think it's a decent browser for the average consumer to use who doesn't care about all that stuff.
@codebean One obnoxious full system update of an installation later, and my testing it isn't that comparable to Chrome. Speeds were the same for me. It tried so hard to copy Chrome almost exactly, but isn't there (i.e. the new tab doesn't allow bookmarks). Favorites system still blows. Defaults search to Bing, no selection. Flash not installed by default. etc.
I'm sorry, but to the average consumer it's sad they won't know better. Not to mention the horrendous download process.
@PoliticalHell Well I think that's a matter of opinion coz I don't know how anyone could think that the bookmarking system on chrome is any better & flash isn't installed on many browsers chrome is the only one i know of. Yes there are a few things that could still be worked on same goes with all browsers really imo it's all about choice & which you prefer.
@PoliticalHell Still, it's better than IE8, which isn't all that difficult. It's interesting how most of their comparisons were against older versions of IE rather than against the competing browsers lol.
@PoliticalHell "Defaults search to Bing, no selection". Firefox 4 defaults to bing for me with no others in the list, I can add google of course & yeah I can change my default search from bing to google, infact ie9 has a whole list of searchproviders you can choose to install from yahoo to google etc take a look: goo . gl / 391DI

Just the sight of Windows is making me sick... I hate the way Microsoft has taken the OS and GUI. They are taking the toolbar (File, Edit, View, etc...) out of everything. It started with Office. And the GUI is just ugly imo.
RCallahan592 11 months ago
@TheWaffleSam It cant do that.

Naw, Chrome is still better. Same features but better experience.

Wow. I've been using Firefox for years, and have recently switched over to Chrome, but IE9 might just become my second browser. Definitely going to give it a try.
...I can't believe I'm actually saying that I'm going to use IE, at all. lol!
avenuePad 11 months ago
Look wise from the video, it looks like chrome but by windows. And more blocky.
I mighty try it, but I'm pretty satisfied with chrome as of right now. Still need to try the latest Firefox.
ZarkPud 11 months ago
@ZarkPud It's not by Windows, it's by Microsoft, Windows is an OS.

@CJCA915 Isn't windows made my Microsoft as well?
ZarkPud 11 months ago
@CJCA915 But yes I am awake I intended to say "Microsoft" and not "Windows" :P

You forgot to mention that pinning a compatible site allows you to use jumplists with it! I've been using IE9 off and on since the beta and I'm really enjoying it, this coming from a once very deticated chrome fan!

I'm testing out IE9 right now and ..its ok ...text looks almost as blurry as safari though which i assume they did to make it render faster...
Chrome is still better
michaelovesrh 11 months ago

I want IE9 for Mac!

IE 9 is a great release. I think I'm going to replace Chrome with it.
You should look into making your site fully compatible with the Pinn feature. From what I understand, it's just 5 lines of code and you're all set.
korwinblue 11 months ago
Man, when IE finally gets an download manager it's BAD and HUGE, useless eye-candy.. It don't have an processbar and no filetype-icon beside of the name. Man Firefox's default is small, simple, have processbar and got an search ....
- I can drag the fav-icon from Safari/Firefox/google Chrome on my mac to the desktop or the dock... nothing 'new' imo...
Google Chrome and Firefox is the way to go!

@HaywardJack Actually, IE9 is in full release.
CJCA915 11 months ago
it won't work for windows xp which i and 40% of the world still use.
petefentonp 11 months ago
@petefentonp Yet another reason to upgrade!
HaywardJack 11 months ago
It looks like an uglier copy of Chrome, with less security and addons, slower speeds, and a bookmark feature that nobody is going to use because nobody wants to clutter their taskbar with web shortcuts.
PoliticalHell 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell you sir are correct
applegeek18 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell Hi, this is nobody! You have no imagination. Imagine having Pandora in your taskbar without having to pay the fee for the app. Or a link to Twitter, gMail or Google Docs. Websites that you use everyday.
korwinblue 11 months ago
@korwinblue Hmm. Or you can do what everyone already does, have one button to open the browser, and automatically restore or load your most frequent or favorite pages. You know, that feature that IE doesn't have.
PoliticalHell 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell I seem to recall you being able to open multiple homepages in IE8 at once. Me, I have many Tabs open at once. It's good to know that I'll always be able to quickly go to my Facebook/Twitter/email just by moving my mouse down to the taskbar. Or accidently closing the browser window that has those sites. My browser tabs won't be as cluttered.
korwinblue 11 months ago
@korwinblue Well I'm not going to argue with you seeing as it is your opinion, and all the power to you. However, Chrome already has a lot of these features integrated, such as restoring tabs from history if you close entire windows, etc. If you choose to enjoy this feature over the benefits of other browsers, then that's your choice, obviously. In my opinion, though, IE is a piece of crap, and always has been.
PoliticalHell 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell I've actually tested the speed of ie & it's faster than chrome, as for security how do you know that especially when they've gone towards improving it this release, and yes it doesn't have all the features chrome has but I still think it's a decent browser for the average consumer to use who doesn't care about all that stuff.
codebean 11 months ago
@codebean One obnoxious full system update of an installation later, and my testing it isn't that comparable to Chrome. Speeds were the same for me. It tried so hard to copy Chrome almost exactly, but isn't there (i.e. the new tab doesn't allow bookmarks). Favorites system still blows. Defaults search to Bing, no selection. Flash not installed by default. etc.
I'm sorry, but to the average consumer it's sad they won't know better. Not to mention the horrendous download process.
Yup, still bad.
PoliticalHell 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell Well I think that's a matter of opinion coz I don't know how anyone could think that the bookmarking system on chrome is any better & flash isn't installed on many browsers chrome is the only one i know of. Yes there are a few things that could still be worked on same goes with all browsers really imo it's all about choice & which you prefer.
codebean 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell Still, it's better than IE8, which isn't all that difficult. It's interesting how most of their comparisons were against older versions of IE rather than against the competing browsers lol.
TalesOfWar 11 months ago
@PoliticalHell "Defaults search to Bing, no selection". Firefox 4 defaults to bing for me with no others in the list, I can add google of course & yeah I can change my default search from bing to google, infact ie9 has a whole list of searchproviders you can choose to install from yahoo to google etc take a look: goo . gl / 391DI
