  • In this comment section a lot of people don't understand the difference between clever sampling, and copying.

Some of you people are thick in the head.

  • Man how many knowledge you have about music my God im impprest right now...Great video all PRODIGY funs must see this video.Respect...PRODIGY for ever...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @proximityeffect1 oh man so sad :( this is a sad day in the us of a

  • @proximityeffect1 but still they took the jelly out of someone elses DONUT!

  • Thanks for this... its a shame how much they sample... and to think i make most of my stuff from scratch!!!!!!!

  • @deejayzyx sampling today is almost a lost art, I dont think you realize how creative this is. Also, all music stands on someones shoulders - this is just a more direct approach.

  • it should be in new gta 5 radio

  • Разочаровался.

  • I think that in the Voodoo people there is a sample taken from Nirvana. Nirvana - Very Ape. Tell me if i'm wrong.

  • @Solid1rock I know your comment is 3 months old but I'll reply anyways, yes the guitars in Voodoo People do sound a lot like the beginning of Very Ape, however it is not sampled, Liam had a guitarist play close sounding riffs in the studio which he manipulated through his sampler to get the result found in the finished track... He did this to avoid the obvious royalty fees for such a small sample.

However he did manage to slip in Cobain's voice in the track "Rat Poison".

  • Wicked :) death of the prodigy dancer wot sample is it?????? plz :)))) x

  • pfff so most of their music are adapted sample o_O

  • Love this video, great work! unfortunately the rapidshare link isn't working for me :(

  • You skipped 'Outgunned'-the last good thing they did.

  • The Heat (The Energy) samples Lil Louis - Why'd You Fall

  • Szczotkov Are you the normal "man what you say? that Liam is a great dj howlet do to you, looks great if someone copied someone else's shit and then eat it too? Give Be normal, and learn what it means to be original and the copy is crap, I listen to THE PRODIGY 21 years but now I am much disappointed when I learned that they copied someone else's creation and so are the famous personalities for granted is not worth it for I have zero! hmmmm ...

  • nice video! do you know the video here on yt

the Making of "The Prodigy - Voodoo People" in Ableton by Jim Pavloff

  • Superb. Very interesting.

Shows the genius of the Prodigy.

  • When you were up to Firestarter I thought you would show the little girl from Art of Noize saying "Hey!".

  • Спасибо. Очень любопытно.

  • Great video, thanks.

  • How come these samples never get their credit in the album? IT'S JUST NOT FAIR… LOL

Although I am curious: What's the difference between situations like Vanilla Ice "stealing" Under Pressure and THIS?

  • These are allmost only Vocal Samples, which I think is totall okay. But nowadays people just "steal" long passages from other songs pitch it +1 , -1 and are in Top 10.

    this makes me sick

  • Просто ахуительно! Ещё больше уважения стало к The Prodigy. Это же надо так вдохнуть жизненную энергию в посредственные по большой части ранние произведения )))

  • Dammn man.

Even I feel naked and I didnt make any of these bangers!

Youve done some serious work here finding the jewels.

The sample cd finds! OH SHIT! Amazing work and ears you have!

  • the "HOLD IT!" from daddy freddy is also used in take me to the hospital, am I right?

  • That's a massive labour of love. Thanks!

    I hadn't realized how much they'd sampled.

  • Comment removed

  • You forgot the west street mob samples and many others, but thanks anyway for your work

  • Gee, The Prodigy sampled the same song Jay-Z sampled in "Lucifer" (from their song "Out of Space")

  • Very nice work! Can I also add that in "What Evil Lurks" he uses the horn sound from Maddness "Nightboat To Cairo".

  • Can you do one on fatboy slim.please

  • /watch?v=vjQW0l9pTaA

    this is Climbatize.

  • really enjoyed that - thanks

  • How anyone an click dislike on this, that's a mystery.

  • thanks for your effort. interesting, also much fun to listen, especially if you know the original song, but never connected it with a prodigy song you also know.

  • help me out... i want to know where the "all around" sample from wind it up is from

  • @djhailon I was looking for it myself for months, found it recently and some put it up here. search Don Carlos & Anthony Johnson - Equal Rights

  • The Firestarter beats are take from a cover of The Doors "Light My Fire" which the beat you suggested also shared.

  • What about Invaders must die and Thunder didn't they have samples used in them?

  • Liam Howlett - Гений!!!

  • Liam's like a jackdaw, just collecting samples from all over the place. Nobody is making music anywhere near the Prodigy, Pendulum etc are just poor rip offs

  • Now that I see his inspiration... I too am inspired!

  • well done dude... you missed the Nirvana sample in Voodoo People... Nirvana song "Very Ape" from their third studio album In Utero.

  • just shows how good he is..

  • hahaha !!!!! cool !!!!!

always wanted to know where they got those samples ...

  • mega propsy za to co robisz! !!!!!

  • thats what i taught mate but how much work goes into his tracks.i mean basement jaxx and chemical bros. as as layered and complex but not as heavily sampled.

  • @Marmberg you retard all songs are made by samples not necessarily from other peoples songs. i make music my self and usually you get various instruments (drums, synth, piano, ect), record a rhythm (a sample) and loop it and then you change things around ect ect

  • great work thanks

  • Liam is a fraud? ..In this type of comment just shows the lack of knowledge of the facts. It must ingenuity, art and taste, to pick up on simple samples, and give makeover.

  • This is a really good video,

    i love the prodigy!

    thanks :)

  • in the Prodigy Version of Voodoo People its a samples guitar in the beginning of the track. Nirvana - Very Ape.

  • at 7:57-7:59

  • fraud? nah.

    he is a ReCycler ;)

  • If you think he's a fraud - go try and do this on your own. See how easy it is. Just because someone already sang "you're no good for me..." doesn't mean it was easy...so he sampled a guy singing "magic people, voodoo people" - but he came up with the whole thing on his own! He put all these random samples together in a beautiful flow, and that takes SEEING in your mind's eye how random things like this would fit together...I would have NEVER put them together! Back then you could only sample..

  • not doubting he is talented but he is not as talented as i taught.outfits like basement jaxx, crystal method or leftfield who was out around the same time there writing is just as layered and complex but not as heavily sampled and in some cases just as good.

  • @philipaok No way are any of those (admittably good) acts are as kinetic as the Prodigy though.

  • Powiem krótko... Bardzo Dobra Robota!

  • Oh my god, I didn't know how "not complicated" it actually was to create these sounds. Somehow it takes the magic away a bit from Liam Howlett. For me.

  • @whitestaa well, obviously I did'nt know enough, that's right.

  • actually it's brilliant how they took the tiniest bits and samples of other songs and made something so great from them

  • @SilverSurferDE well i always thought it was obvious how sample based his tunes were. what i thought was wicked about the prodigy was liam took sounds from so many different genres and made them fit together so well. also think of the equipment used back in the early nineties its was all hardware, barely any software. if it was easy their would have been loads of people releasing stuff like them.

  • @greenblazersl6 that was the "missing link" for me. I always have know that he used samples but not in that all-embracing way. I mean even most of or at least a lot of the drums seem to be samples.I was absolutely surprised by that.Old hardware was not a problem I think.IIts not that difficult to use or limited in function as you might think. The IDEA counts, and there Liam is on top,no doubt! But as I wrote I am surprised about the number of samples one track of him seem to consist of.

  • I actually find it somewhat inspirational to see him taking things from all these different sources and making something new with it.

  • Champ by The Mohawks ,1969

  • hey man great vid. also the start riff for "Voodoo People" is sampled from Nirvana's "Very Ape"

  • Comment removed

  • Eye opener. Due respect your way.

  • great video!

    fair play!

  • Liam rządzi:)

  • MUY BUENO MUY BUSCADO

  • Nice one mate. Whosampled is another good source of sample info - nice to see em against each other.

  • excellent , never realised that my favourite all time Prodigy track "Hyperspeed" samples my favourite woman Kate Bush's "Hello Earth".

    Thanks for the info.

  • Great work!!

    Thanks

  • Лол)))

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • great work mate ... big up ... :)

  • pure class ..thanks mate

  • Thanks for this compilation! Anyway, I don't care much where are these samples from, Prodigy is simply great. Stealing samples is just part of Liam's art and he is doing it very well.

  • F*cking great! Thanks, essential work. Actually many samples were used by not only the Prodigy, but by all the other early rave producers

  • Respect from Hungary!

  • very well done ,ur as good as liam at digging them out..

  • unfortunately liam beat me to it and digged them out first :>

  • There's also Baby D - Casanova sampled in Break & Enter.

  • Does somebody know the exact source of the "Little bit of bass, little bit of drums"-sample? The Mohawks-The Champ ok,but wich recording?

  • Very nicely done - must've taken some serious digging!

  • mega lol !!! even in take me to the hostpital they used the same stuff released in 89

    shame on them !

  • nice!

  • you forgot the firestarter - hey hey hey

the sample is from Close to the edit - Art of Noise

  • and the Firestarter guitar sample of "SOS" by The Breeders.

  • thumbs up! awesome!

  • Very nice video, well presented and nicely sourced, especially the sampler CD stuff.

  • great job man.

didnt know all of those samples R taken, inspired. but anyway Liam, Flint and Maxim is unique!

  • Spot on this! Well done

  • very nice job! ty

  • VERY GOOD WORK M8.RESPECT

  • w ostatniej próbce "Take me to the hospital" przewija się organopodobny sampel użyty też przy starym hicie LA Style "James Brown is Dead". Jestem ciekaw skąd pochodzi.

  • respect !!!

    very good

  • Very informative video, shows the genius of Liam (in the early days at least).

  • This video is awesome even though it's not accurate^_^

  • Hihi ho hoo Method Man - Release yo delf (The Prodigy rmx)

  • Very nice dude, some very inusual as i thought it would coming from howlett, taking notes of it (i supposted im a wannabe, hehe)

  • wow, very nice. Some I knew and lots I did not. I have to disagree on the peter piper & Outer Space and also your love with Spectrum Brasil. Prodigy I think had their own synthesiser that had that sound and would do many patters on alot of their tracks

Don't for get charley with the cat and the little boy, that one could be found here.

  • great work! Thanks!

  • did they pay for samples?

  • "In the beginning The Prodigy sampled without regard to copyright, now XL Recordings clears everything - the vocal intro to The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown track, used on Fire cost them £3000" - taken from Liam Howlett interview in Future Music mag (January 1993)

  • i sampled ostr will i go to jail if he find out?

  • I have that hustlers convention 1989 on LP and i didnt even noticed the samples lol

  • The "No Good Start The Dance" and "Voodoo People" samples are very interesting; who new we were all listsening to obscure artists from the early seventies!! and its good to know that for "Take Me To The Hospital" Liam sampled from the same track he sampled for "Fire" it realy shows that he's gone back to his roots for "Invader Must Die".

  • I'm gonna dispute the your love riff, I think it was just the same preset sound from what ever synth it came from

  • Voodoo people guitar intro was based on Very Ape by Nirvana.

  • that rund dmc out of space thing, ain't right

  • this is brilliant!

  • cool! i'm going to make a vid like this but divide it into seperate pieces per album, Experience era etc. and include more samples as this ain't a complete list! cool vid tho!

  • the "hold it !" part at 1:52 is also used in the take

    me to the hospital song

    you missed that =P

  • Well spotted!

  • Brilliant mate!...Ive learned alot from this mate....

  • Uptown! Dope on Plastic! used by SL2 also! thanks

Liam Howlett is a genius. those tracks are raw

  • this video is a perfection!!!

  • great work man...

  • I think this vid is totally class! Iv been a fan from da very start and prefer da early stuff. Hearin wer all da samples came from is deadly! Hats off 2 Laim!

  • Nawet w najnowszym albumie musieli zeskrobać wokalik :D

  • WOW good video...anche se manca qualche sample altra... :)

    Hello
