What wonderful proof that the early church Fathers testified to the authority of Scriptures "which cannot be broken"! Bennett is a marvelous discovery and I recommend listening to him to get back on track away from the emergent church philosophies and encroachment of the new age.
@ultimouomo11 'Endemic' rape and abuse of Irish children in Catholic care, inquiry finds
Beatings and humiliation by nuns and priests were common at institutions that held up to 30,000 children, Ryan report states, h t t p://w w wDOTguardian.co.uk/world/2009/may/20/irish-catholic-schools-child-abuse-claims
@BereanBeacon1 Would you like the links that proves protestants molest more children in their churches statistically than Catholics? in America they typically receive 260 reports each year of minors being sexually abused by Protestant clergy, staff, or other church-related relationships; as opposed to the Catholic Church, about 228 per year. Want the links to the websites?
@ultimouomo11 Revealed, six decades of 'ritual' child abuse: Catholic schools and orphanages damned in report

St. Athanasius - O noble Virgin, truly you are greater than any other greatness. For who is your equal in greatness, O dwelling place of God the Word? To whom among all creatures shall I compare you, O Virgin? You are greater than them all. O [Ark of the New] Covenant, clothed with purity instead of gold! You are the Ark in which is found the golden vessel containing the true manna, that is, the flesh in which divinity resides. If I say that heaven is exalted, yet it does not equal you.
@ultimouomo11 You have the same whore (Mary of Rome) that was written about in the Old Testament and dishonor my Lord Jesus Christ. Jeremiah 44:17-25.
@BereanBeacon1 Jesus is not your Lord, for he does not know you. On that day he will say to you, "depart from me ! "(Matthew 7:21-23). For you did not listen to those whom he sent (Luke 10:16). You do not listen, for you are not of his fold (John 10:27). The flock he entrusted to St. Peter (John 21:15-17). Nor are you a part of his Church built upon him (Isaiah 22:15-25 with Matthew 16:18-19). The Church, the foundation and pillar of truth (1 Timothy 3:15). You belong to another (John 8:44).
@ultimouomo11 There is a difference between defending ones religion and judging another person. You judge Bereanbeacon1 with this statement. This contravenes God's word. Judge not and you will not be judged. Furthermore, Jesus said I am the way, truth and life/ Noone else but Jesus is the only way. Why put trust in salvation in religion, people and a church? Not to mention, catholic tradition blatantly contradicts scripture. Please ponder gud brother in Christ. Peace
@southernsales777 Then why don't you preach the same advice to him? Did you see what he called the Blessed Virgin? (Even if you don't agree with what we believe there's no call for that) I never said anything like that to him. THAT'S crossing the line, what I said after that was perfectly justified in light of his comment. I will say it again, Christ did not find a bible, he founded a living Church to guide the faithful, guided by the Holy Spirit. The word Bible is not found in scripture either.
@ultimouomo11 I wud say worse things to him if I remained catholic. I prayed the rosary for 10 years and loved mary with all my heart. I understand your anger towards his comments. I made extra penance when the gay community slandered mary with " mary like a virgin". But gud brother in Christ, if u believe scripture, u must also believe that mary herself said " My spirit rejoices in God my savior". If mary was sinless, why need a savior? God bless u
@southernsales777 Yes, but we believe that she was saved through the cross but by anticipation. Just as Enoch was taken into heaven before the cross so Mary was also saved.Just as Moses, Abraham and Elijah were in heaven. Think of it this way; a person falls into a pit, someone then comes and pulls them out and saves them. Then, someone else is just about to fall into that pit but someone grabs them to keep them from falling into it. They may not have fallen into the pit but were still saved.
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.1Corinthians 10:21 .
@BereanBeacon1 Catholic tradition in no way contradict scripture. For everything we believe is contained in scripture. It's not that we contradict scripture, it's that your understanding of scripture is somewhat lacking. Scripture and Sacred Tradition go hand in hand. Scripture even attests to this (2 Thess. 2:15) (1 Cor. 11:2) (2 Tim. 2:1-2). Scripture cannot be interpreted on your own (2 Peter 1:20-21). This is why there are so many protestant denominations that teach error.
@BereanBeacon1 Speaking of the cup of the Lord, do you believe it contains his blood? Or do you partake in the doctrine of devils who deny his true body and blood?
"Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 11:27)
Of course that it is a sin to not do the things that God ordained, but that doesn't mean there is an actual substance in it, but more of an ordinance to remember his death.
For example, the old testament of circumcision, God ordained and commanded to be done, and those who are not circumcised will be cast off. So at that time, Israel started to trust in the work of the ordinance and believed in true salvation by that. But Paul refuted that later in Romans.
@BereanBeacon1 You mean this Mass? - "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Consider the people of Israel; are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar?" (1 Corinthians 10:16-18)
@BereanBeacon1 "Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God.
"But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF TRUTH." (1 Timothy 3:15).
@ultimouomo11 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Matthew 6:7
@BereanBeacon1 No argument here, even if you prayed ONE PRAYER without your heart it would be in vain. Christ did not say that repetition was vain, but that vain repetition was useless (there's a drastic difference). Christ prayed for hours (Luke 6:12). He also prayed the same prayer for one hour (Matthew 26:39-40). Then a second time praying the same thing (Matthew 26:42). The he went a third time (Matthew 26:44). Do not sit there and say that Christ never said the same prayer more than once.
@ultimouomo11 Cardinal Newman, in his book, "The Development of the Christian Religion," admits that... "Temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, holidays and season of devotions, processions, blessing of fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests and monks and nuns ), images... are all of pagan origin..." Want to see what the Fathers and the early Church believed? Go to
w w w catholic.com/library/fathers_k now_best.asp
See it and read it for yourself. From Mary to Purgatory, to the Eucharist to Confession and even the Papacy (all articles of faith). Then come back and listen to this to see if what they taught and believed matches with what he's saying. Of course there were disputes and arguments among the Fathers but that's normal. The faith however has always been since the beginning.
@BereanBeacon1 If you don't want to read the statements of the early Church Father's that's fine, but then don't claim know what they taught. (Acts 2:42) And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 20:7-12) Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread. Hey, if you're afraid to read what the Church Fathers said, I understand.
@ultimouomo11 So, Peter your first pope proved his fallibility by leaving out the wine. You claim John 6:53, but the apostles had brain lock unless you read John 6:63. I don't care what your fathers wrote.
@BereanBeacon1 You mistake infallibility for sinlessness or impeccability. The Pope, my dad, your mom etc.... are all sinners (and so were the apostles). Yet that didn't stop Christ from calling them to serve. I always find it puzzling how someone who claims to be a Christian can ignore the writings of the early Church. As I said though you, would have to be a Christian to heed them so, I can understand why you would ignore them. The same way you ignore what the bible says and teaches.
@ultimouomo11 It is pointless to continue as you are spiritually dead and I would be communicating with a dead person.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Matthew 7:
@BereanBeacon1 The dead are those, like you , who think they follow Christ but reject His Church "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
@BereanBeacon1 Christ said his sheep LISTEN to his voice. (John 10:27). And what did that voice say about the the authority given to HIS Church? "He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth me; and he that despiseth me, despiseth him that sent me. " (Luke 10:16). This promise included the successors of the apostles since Christ said 'until the end of the time" From the beginning with the apostles and their successors until the end of the age (Matthew 28-20).
"And if ever thou art sojourning in cities, inquire not simply where the Lord's House is (for the other sects of the profane also attempt to call their own dens houses of the Lord), nor merely where the Church is, but where is the Catholic Church. For this is the peculiar name of this Holy Church, the mother of us all, which is the spouse of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-begotten Son of God." - St. Cyril of Jerusalem 350 A.D. : Catechetical Lectures XVIII, 26.
this clown is a Fraud Richard Peter Bennett ... The real Father was R M Bennet .....
From 1971, the parish passed to the Dominicans with Rev. Fathers K. Sheridan, Ronan Cusak and R.M. Bennet serving in that order. Also assisting for short periods during this time were Fathers Cockburn, Duffy and Rivas. The latter is currently serving as Archbishop of St. Lucia. Taken from the Parish web site... what a phony bastard
@martlut I find it hard to imagine that a God loving Christian would call his own neighbor "Phony bastard". even calling a person a fool already bring s a person to the judgement as Jesus said
@martlut i wonder why Jesus never called anyone, specifically His torturers "phony bastards". :) I'd rather believe in good fruits than logical arguments, historical proofs ( historians are also story fabricators) and blatant slanders, all of which are unchristian.
Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. The celebration of the Eucharist is valid only if it is administered by the bishop or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Where the bishop is, there let the people also be; just as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not permitted to baptize or to celebrate an agape without authorization from the bishop.

Please provide historical proofs that there were bible Christians before Luther. RCC's claim is that bible Christianity started with Luther and there were no bible Christians before luther.Furthermore, it would be good to give us the true history of the bible as RCC also claims that she was the one who gave us the bible
@southernsales777 He can't provide any, at least not enough to make his claim, .Notice how Jesus never says in the bible that the apostles should go to the scriptures as their final authority? Think about that, if Jesus had wanted scripture to be the final authority don't you think the writers of the New Testament would have shown Jesus commanding this? Even one sentence showing Jesus commanding this would have been enough. But no, he never says those words anywhere in scripture. It's the truth.

@imromancatholic unfortunately Jesus said " he who says you fool to his brother in endangered of the judgement". Buffoon seems more inimical than fool
This is funny. Richard Bennett trying to make the Early Church Fathers in to Protestants? They were Bishops and PRIESTS. They believed in the Eucharist and baptismal regeneration. They looked to Rome for direction and recognized the first Bishops of Rome. This guy is a clown. The other day I found out that he had a big hit on his head when he left the Church. Had to go to a sanatorium. I had off thought he sounded a bit nutz.

@RIMBR Religions of works are on the broad way to destruction. Matthew 7:13-15. Who are the FEW? They have the FREE GIFT of God by faith alone
@petruscephas You can have your " Church Fathers", but show me the sacraments in the book of Acts. The 8,000 converted Jews in Acts 2 and 4 were saved by the FREE GIFT of God by faith and it had nothing to do with your dead sacraments.
If you call the sacraments founded by Jesus Christ "dead" then you know neither Sacred Scripture nor the power of God who gives us his grace daily in the sacraments.
Your interpretation of Sacred Scripture is faulty and in opposition to the Lord and to his servants, the Church Fathers.
I read the church to mean the body of believers who believe what the witnesses to the life of Jesus told us .
Paul clearly states if he himself comes and preach anything new that we are to shun him
Why should I beleive those who added alot to the scriptures and also tried to institute a civil authority when Jesus himself said that was not his purpose. Were not these leaders of your church equal to stalin and hitler. The church fathers are the ones who did not change the message
Then explain it to me I would love to know how the catholic church explains away what happened when they murdered any person who stood up for themselves .
Do you know the stories of them killing men women and children in the name of Jesus .
explain it to me . Plz
I am serious if there is an explanation I want to know .
Is the history of the church being incorrectly portrayed ?
I am a Church historian and so I know the the true history of the Church that Our Lord founded, and am very aware of the many, many ways in which non-Catholic Christians have distorted that history in order to suit their own purposes and to justify their separation from the one, holy Church of Christ.
I am not blaming this on you because you have undoubtedly been taught many fictions about the Church.
Read "Triumph: A 2,000 Year History" By H.W. Crocker and then we'll talk.
"... you have undoubtedly been taught many fictions about the Church."?
Those many "fictions" have been proven and even admitted by the Pope who "apologized" for the crimes he and his Vatican have committed. I bet you call yourself a "historian" just because you, like in your own words, "have undoubtedly been taught many fictions about the church".
Denying the fact that the Catholic Church murdered Protestants is worse than Holocaust denial.
"Would you please tell me the names of two... texts you have read on the... Catholic Church? Any books written by... so and so... do not qualify as..."
I don't even have to refer to those guys, there are just so many sources out there that serve as witnesses to the crimes of the Popes and frankly I don't even know where to start. Even the Pope knows it and some catlicks even come up with the excuse that those murders were to "stop unrest". Who do they think they are kidding?
Thanks for your enlightening response. I had a strong sense that you had never actually studied the subject and didn't know the first thing about Church history. You just confirmed it for me.
I would also recommend that you read "The Fathers Know Best: Your Essential Guide to the Teachings of the Early Church".
The author, Jimmy Akin is a convert to the Church from evangelicalism and the book's forward was written by Marcus Grodi who is also a convert to the Church.
In both cases it was the writings of the Church Fathers, many of whom were Catholic Bishops, that brought these two men to the fullness of the truth of Christ in the Catholic Church.
Those same church fathers you list are the same who wrote against what you now currently believe .
Maybe you should read all their writtings instead of the ones pointed out to you by the catholic church .
The church is the people who continue to hold the belief in Gods word . God reads the heart and he doesnt need an organization of man to keep up with who is and isnt saved. How can you now speak against abortion when your history was the killing of many infants .
doctrine of the Paulicians was the rejection of the worship of the Virgin Mary, the saints, and the cross, the denial of the material presence of Christ in the Eucharist, look what i found out about these paulicians no wonder rc hate his teachings
@beingther They also rejected the Old testament altogether, and Christ's existence prior to his incarnation, and the goodness of the God who had created the material world... to give a few examples...
How can anyone call this lying, self-serving and self-deceiving man a saint?! The Paulicians were not called after St. Paul, nor did they call themselves paulicians. They were named after Paul of Samosata, an adoptionist heretic, and were themselves adoptionists and manichaeans, not baptist or protestant... To claim anything different is to lie, or to be sadly and deeply mistaken, there is no alternative. The waldensians cannot be traced to the 1st millenium, let alone the 1st century.
@psevdhome he did not say The Paulicians where called after paul .if they where not called paulicians did bennett make the word paulicians up and if so ,why do you talk about this paul of Samosata
They paulicians were so named, because they believed the same things that Paul of Samosata did: a rejection of the material world and christ's divinity, and the old testament scriptures. The paulicians did not take the name from the apostle Paul, which was what Bennet claimed. When he said so, he was either lying or mistaken, but he was wrong...
@beingther Well, I'm not RC, but it seems that Constantine did not make the bishop of Rome a Pope. The papacy was a later invention stemming from the fact that Rome was the only Patriarch in the western church, and it wanted to extend its power to all other bishops of the church as well, but this development was centuries after Constantine.
If you don't want to adress what I say, don't talk to me, please. We can talk, but that means you'll have to talk to me about what I actually said? Or?
@psevdhome Constantine did not make the bishop of Rome a Pope.he just stopt the persacution the next one did i cant remember the name . i was not right befor >
@beingther Maybe we are using the word saint in a different way. You mean in the way it is used in the Bible I presume, as in one of God's people, regenerate and so on. With that I agree. But he is not a saint in the other sense of the word. As in a great teacher and an example to christians. The stuff he says about the early church is wrong, so he is either lying i. e. knows that it is wrong. Or he is deceived, meaning he thinks it is true, even though it is not. That's why
@beingther Thank you, and AMEN! Roman Catholics....and those caught up in the Ecunemical (Emergent) Church movement: Come up out of HER and be saved! Mr. Bennett is speaking the truth! He is giving you the information you need to make a sound decision concerning your salvation! You are left without excuse!
It was grace that brought God's people out of enslavement in Egypt, it was grace that brought them back from exile in Babylon, and it is grace by which those who accept enter into relationship with Christ our sin is expiated and God's wrath propitiated. By works, we can NEVER atone for our sin.
Works based Christianity i.e. roman catholicism is an abomination of the central doctrine that we are justified by grace, so that no one may boast (Romans 3 and Ephesian 2:8 - 10). Works based christianity is fundamentally malicious and dangerous, and arrests any prospect of a personal relationship with Christ.
Grace, grace, amazing saving grace! Scripture is clear, it is by grace. The James text refers to work done by someone who has ALREADY experienced saving grace i.e. the work done is a fulfillment of, and made possible by, faith. This work would be work of the Spirit and would therefore bear the fruits of the Spirit (Galations 5). It is clear that James was writing to Christians encouraging them not to be apathetic, but to let the transforming influence of Christ be seen in their actions/works.
"Where the bishop is present, there is the Catholic Church" (To the Smyrnaeans 8:2).
This man "forgets" to mention these quotes, and the thousands of others, which show that the early Church WAS Catholic, and held the teachings of the Church!!!
Catholic means universal. The Church was called "catholic" because it means just that. The Church contains all Christians. In the 6th Century, the church in Rome began using this title as it's own. The True Church is catholic in nature. It contains all Christians, not just Catholics. The Roman Catholic Church is very different from the early catholic church.
Fistly, Christ founded only one Church - Mt 16:18. All other churches, though they claim to worship Christ, and call themselves "christian", they are not truly Christian who are not members of the body of Christ (the Church).
You are correct in saying that "catholic" means universal. However, Catholic was soon adopted to describe the one true Church of Christ, and distinguish it form the heretical ones springing up, which denied one or more of His teachings.
In addition, St Ignatius of Antioch uses the term Catholic to name this one true Church in the earliest written use of the term, which had no doubt been in existence for some time before. This was in 107AD.
There are some heretics who reject the Church, and therefore try to say that Ignatius reffered only to the "universal" Church. However, their position is refuted by the fact that Ignatius wrote about the Eucharist, Bishops, Our Lady etc -all Catholic theology.
how is what i said bigotry i only commented of what catholic meant i mean my goodness, is everyone on youtube half crazy you called me a bigot for what. and give me some sources for your statement please, i like to learn. I just dont understand why you called me a bigot that truly confusing.
prove what you just said....don't give me opinion, but prove what you are saying about the RC church. If you are so content in your "church" why spew forth hate and try to pass it off as fact about the RCC?
The only thing from "the pit of hell" is your illogical, intolerant, bigoted "opinion".
the roman catholic pagan satanic church is all the proof I need. and if you were following the Jesus of the bible you would run from the RCC. Why dont you prove your church by the bible, you cant and if you tried and had a pure heart you would be lead away from the rcc by the Holy Spirit
yeah, typical "born again" mentality. Seems, you're getting a bit defensive and intolerant. Why do you spew forth hate when you're not even part of the RCC and pass, or try to pass it off, as doing "your Christian duty"?
The RCC dates back to Jesus' ascension and the apostles.
The RCC believes in Sacred Scripture as well as Sacred Tradition, and that I notice is where a lot of intolerance from "you people" comes in.
Do NOT confuse sinful human nature with just strictly within RCC.
intolerant of your paranoid ideals more like it. Why read and buy into anti-Catholic Propaganda and pass off an "opinion" as doing "your Christian duty by witnessing"?
By the way, Chuckie...I am born again. I go to the RCC bow and pray to God through Jesus Christ our Savior. Now, that is coming from a practicing RC, so believe what you will, but don't pass off your "human perspective" as deep theory.
You have yet to prove anything negative about the RCC except for warbled, "opinions". Satan has not blinded me, but you, . You have a demon of pride and intolerance....remember that is what got Satan kicked out of heaven.
Once again, if you are not Catholic, don't plan on being one, why on Earth are you frequenting sites spewing forth hate "opinions" and try to pass it off as your deep theory? Leave it be then.
um this isnt a site spewing forth hate, he talking about the early church. He talking about facts, what are you talking about. Pride, you have misguided pride in your satanic church. Deep theory, what are you talking about. Your nuts and in need of the real Jesus.
there's no love in what you say, little man, maybe in your prideful mind.
I seriously truly doubt you even know enough about the RCC to be calling it satanic. Grow up. Stop being a follower and try being a leader with your own mind.
Stop programming your corrupt "satanic" mind into believing a load of gossip.
You are only repeating what you heard, and have no mind of your own.
In any event Happy New Year!
No need to post directly to me anymore..I have nothing to say to you.
Thank you, lordrothchild..I too grew up with one wonderful loving Catholic grandmother, (and one crazy Russian grandmother too, but another story...)
Thanks be to God above that I do know and have a wonderful relationship with the "real" Jesus. You see, not all Catholics are going to hell as one would believe, just like not all Protestants are going to heaven as one would believe...
In any event...Happy New Year to you and your family!!
@Mite0m How refreshing your comment was after you were mean because I slander your church NOT you. I believe as you believe per your last comment, not all catholics are damned, and so called protestant many are damned. Mite seriously speaking as I exammine the catholic religion, I can see many things that the bible doesnt approve of.
you just confessed that you are a "slanderer". Sir, do you know where that originates from? It's another form of gossip; the Devil is a "slanderer". PLEASE be careful in your approach. Please allow me to leave you with this comment that I say last night:
"There are not over a hundred people..who hate the Roman Catholic Church. There are millions, however who hate what they WRONGLY BELIEVE to be the Roman Catholic Church."
@Mite0m Sir I know exactly what I said. I put hours and hours of research of the catholic church. I specially like to listen to exchatholic priests. In history it is well documented that Constantine intentionally mixed paga practices when officially forming the catholic church.
For the record and as you know, there are too many former Protestants that returned "home" so to speak. But it's good that we can have a chat like this.
As for the "paganism" in RCC. I do not know in what context this quote is taken from that you gave me. I DO know that there is pagan DNA in many of everybody's traditions, holidays, etc. And you can bet, if there are "pagan" customs in RCC then it will be found in mostly everything. Yet, I don't know where you are going with this or what this?
@Mite0m well the early church didnt subcribe to pagan pracitices. The Rcc is a result of many teachers gaining preeminence and finally political power and ultimately used by constantine as a power base.
@lordrothchild21 with the utmost respect, you are going to have to prove that with not one, but many sources....I've heard it all before. If you studied the RCC as long as you claim you have then you should have studied Martin Luther and the problems, yes problems he ushered in along with the Reformation being that you consider yourself a Protestant which as you know is also Protester.
Seriously, brother, we can go around and around - on and on.
@Mite0m actually I dont consider myself a protestant. And why would we go round and round about facts. The rcc and its practices has no biblical foundation. As a honest studier, I see no evidence for it.
Sir, I humbly and respectfully ask...what the heck are you studying???!! The RCC traces back to the Apostles and Jesus, (same as the Orthodox). "Practices"? "No Biblical Foundation"? Either you are in willful denial, or sir, you are not studying half of what you claim.
The whole RC Mass is filled with Sacred Scripture, and nothing but praise to our Lord. What on Earth are you talking about? seriously, I do not understand. No Biblical foundation? Are you mad?
@Mite0m that question is easily answered. Just listen to the guy in this video. I would every source I ever read on the matter says the rcc was officially formed 311 ad and before that, in the church fathers own writings. I mean come on sir!
The church was "formed"? Christ left the keys to Peter then later Ascended to Heaven leaving his Apostles to spread the word = Hence, Sacred Tradition. The Bible did not come yet. It is said the birth of Roman Catholcism was at Pentecost. I am not just making it up that's factual. Eventually Peter made his way to Rome = Roman Catholic.
I have no idea what anti-Catholic Propaganda you are reading or where you pull this date out of?
@Mite0m all of the history books concerning constantine. Jesus did not leave the keys to peter and Im not really trying to convince you otherwise, I simply dont agree with your or any other catholics interpretation of that scripture. Jesus was talking about the revalation that peter said about Him being the Christ. Peter was used by satan and Jesus said get behing me satan. Paul withstood peter to his face because peter was wrong. APOSTLE PETER WAS NOT THE FIRST POPE the dates even dont alow
the whole Protestant movement hangs on that Scripture ....well, YOUR intureptation of that Scripture. Early Church Fathers and Councils knew this. Papal authority can be traced back historically. Called "Apostolic" because it began w/ His 12 Apostles & continued w/ their successors. Remember, Jesus spoke Aramaic which leaves no room for the Greek Petros/petra you've been hoodwinked to believe. In Aramiac, "Kephra" = the identification of Peter as the rock is clear.
of the first Council, the council of Jerusalem. Called at the request of St. Paul..first 12 chapters of Acts which describe early church in Jerusalem, every chapter except 6&7 show St. Peter in a leadership position while St. James appears only briefly and not in a leadership role. Peter lead meetings which elected the first successor to an Apostle, Acts 1:13-26...preached the first sermon at Pentecost 2:14...
...and again, brother what are you insinuating when you say the RCC "has no Biblical foundation"? It again appears that you are just reciting what you've been told.
@Mite0m Yea I know that is what you want it to appeart to be. Lets roll call. Queen of heave, mary is a virgin, mary is alive in heaven, rosary beads. the pope, the popes garments, the symbols used in rcc paintings, the symbols used rcc portraits of christ, mary, christ and mary, the college of cardinals, the armyies of the pope,
Yeah what? Mary? Yeah you "born agains" love to dig that one up. Typical, but what is your question? Oh, yes, "we RC's 'worship' her"?
The 'Hail Mary' is very Biblical and is found in Luke.
if you look at Church history you will find much to your displeasure I'm sure, (and denial) that Mary's title of Mother of God (which she was, even your pride has to let you admit that)..was not rejected until 429 AD. Jesus told us to honor thy mother ..... We are told to immitate Jesus in the Gospels....
before you begin to spew forth misunderstandment intolerance and hate and try to package it off as "doing your Christian duty..." as fun as this has been I am going away on business for a few days, but I am sure when I return your pride and ego will have made you leave me a page of posts.
Until then ...May our Lord bless you and your family...
"...and again, brother what are you insinuating when you say the RCC "has no Biblical foundation"? It again appears that you are just reciting what you've been told."
Then I suggest that you provide some proof of your roman church's "biblical foundation" before more people like me "misunderstand".
"Formerly there was baptism in an obscure way . . . now, however, in full view, there is regeneration in water and in the Holy Spirit. Formerly, in an obscure way, there was manna for food; now, however, in full view, there is the true food, the flesh of the Word of God, as he himself says: My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink [John 6:55]" (Homilies on Numbers 7:2 [A.D. 248]).
"The flesh is shadowed with the imposition of hands [in confirmation], that the soul also may be illuminated by the Spirit; the flesh feeds [in the Eucharist] on the body and blood of Christ, that the soul likewise may be filled with God" (The Resurrection of the Dead 8 [A.D. 210]).
"[T]here is not a soul that can at all procure salvation, except it believe whilst it is in the flesh, so true is it that the flesh is the very condition on which salvation hinges. And since the soul is, in consequence of its salvation, chosen to the service of God, it is the flesh which actually renders it capable of such service. The flesh, indeed, is washed [in baptism], in order that the soul may be cleansed"
"Eat my flesh, [Jesus] says, and drink my blood. The Lord supplies us with these intimate nutrients, he delivers over his flesh and pours out his blood, and nothing is lacking for the growth of his children" (The Instructor of Children 1:6:43:3 [A.D. 191]).
"If the Lord were from other than the Father, how could he rightly take bread, which is of the same creation as our own, and confess it to be his body and affirm that the mixture in the cup is his blood?" (Against Heresies 4:3332 [A.D. 189]).
"For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nurtured, is both the flesh and the blood of that incarnated Jesus" (First Apology 66 [A.D. 151]).
"We call this food Eucharist, and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [i.e., has received baptism] and is thereby living as Christ enjoined.
"Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God.They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes"
"I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life. I desire the bread of God, which is the flesh of Jesus Christ, who was of the seed of David; and for drink I desire his blood, which is love incorruptible" (Letter to the Romans 7:3 [A.D. 110]).
"That church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. With that church, because of its superior origin, all the churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world, and it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition" (Against Heresies 3:3:2 [A.D. 189]).
"But since it would be too long to enumerate in such a volume as this the succession of all the churches, we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper, by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul.
Today we have observed the Lords holy day, in which we have read your letter [Pope Soter]. Whenever we do read it [in church], we shall be able to profit thereby, as also we do when we read the earlier letter written to us by Clement" (ibid., 4:23:11).
"For from the beginning it has been your custom to do good to all the brethren in various ways and to send contributions to all the churches in every city. . . . This custom your blessed Bishop Soter has not only preserved, but is augmenting, by furnishing an abundance of supplies to the saints and by urging with consoling words, as a loving father his children, the brethren who are journeying" (Letter to Pope Soter in Eusebius, Church History 4:23:9)
"You [the church at Rome] have envied no one, but others you have taught. I desire only that what you have enjoined in your instructions may remain in force" (ibid., 3:1).
"Ignatius . . . to the church also which holds the presidency, in the location of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and, because you hold the presidency in love, named after Christ and named after the Father" (Letter to the Romans 1:1)
"Therefore shall you [Hermas] write two little books and send one to Clement [Bishop of Rome] and one to Grapte. Clement shall then send it to the cities abroad, because that is his duty" (The Shepherd 2:4:3 [A.D. 80]).
The thing that cracks me up is that romanists believe that the church fathers held the same traditions as them. They believe that they just never wrote them down. How stupid do you have to be to believe that the apostles never wrote down part of their doctrine. How could they remember all the traditions without writing them down? Can you remeber the whole bible + the RCC by memory? How could people communicte with each other w/o witten letters?
The church started at Mt Sinai. Dispensation idea eliminates Christ's covenant and commission in favor of a distorted notion of grace. It completely does away with our part and responsibility in the covenant. It is what has lead to universalism and unitarianism.

This man Richard Bennett was going on his own from the beginning....He was looking for Graces for himself....I'm sorry but ITS GOD FIRST......OTHERS SECOND AND YOURSELF LAST.....I can demand Graces all day but God does not have to grant them to me....Gods will be done...Not mine...Now he is FREE....free to live and interpret what HE WANTS from the Bible...The Bible now centers around HIM....
What wonderful proof that the early church Fathers testified to the authority of Scriptures "which cannot be broken"! Bennett is a marvelous discovery and I recommend listening to him to get back on track away from the emergent church philosophies and encroachment of the new age.

Peace
southernsales777 6 months ago
@southernsales777 Then why don't you preach the same advice to him? Did you see what he called the Blessed Virgin? (Even if you don't agree with what we believe there's no call for that) I never said anything like that to him. THAT'S crossing the line, what I said after that was perfectly justified in light of his comment. I will say it again, Christ did not find a bible, he founded a living Church to guide the faithful, guided by the Holy Spirit. The word Bible is not found in scripture either.
ultimouomo11 6 months ago
@ultimouomo11 I wud say worse things to him if I remained catholic. I prayed the rosary for 10 years and loved mary with all my heart. I understand your anger towards his comments. I made extra penance when the gay community slandered mary with " mary like a virgin". But gud brother in Christ, if u believe scripture, u must also believe that mary herself said " My spirit rejoices in God my savior". If mary was sinless, why need a savior? God bless u
southernsales777 6 months ago
@southernsales777 Yes, but we believe that she was saved through the cross but by anticipation. Just as Enoch was taken into heaven before the cross so Mary was also saved.Just as Moses, Abraham and Elijah were in heaven. Think of it this way; a person falls into a pit, someone then comes and pulls them out and saves them. Then, someone else is just about to fall into that pit but someone grabs them to keep them from falling into it. They may not have fallen into the pit but were still saved.

@ultimouomo11 Your devil mass.
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.1Corinthians 10:21 .
BereanBeacon1 6 months ago
@BereanBeacon1 Catholic tradition in no way contradict scripture. For everything we believe is contained in scripture. It's not that we contradict scripture, it's that your understanding of scripture is somewhat lacking. Scripture and Sacred Tradition go hand in hand. Scripture even attests to this (2 Thess. 2:15) (1 Cor. 11:2) (2 Tim. 2:1-2). Scripture cannot be interpreted on your own (2 Peter 1:20-21). This is why there are so many protestant denominations that teach error.
ultimouomo11 6 months ago
@BereanBeacon1 Speaking of the cup of the Lord, do you believe it contains his blood? Or do you partake in the doctrine of devils who deny his true body and blood?
"Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 11:27)
ultimouomo11 6 months ago
@ultimouomo11
But Paul refuted that later in Romans.
anhtuanb 5 months ago
@BereanBeacon1 You mean this Mass? - "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Consider the people of Israel; are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar?" (1 Corinthians 10:16-18)

BereanBeacon1 6 months ago
@BereanBeacon1 No argument here, even if you prayed ONE PRAYER without your heart it would be in vain. Christ did not say that repetition was vain, but that vain repetition was useless (there's a drastic difference). Christ prayed for hours (Luke 6:12). He also prayed the same prayer for one hour (Matthew 26:39-40). Then a second time praying the same thing (Matthew 26:42). The he went a third time (Matthew 26:44). Do not sit there and say that Christ never said the same prayer more than once.

Hey, if you're afraid to read what the Church Fathers said, I understand.
ultimouomo11 6 months ago
@ultimouomo11 So, Peter your first pope proved his fallibility by leaving out the wine. You claim John 6:53, but the apostles had brain lock unless you read John 6:63. I don't care what your fathers wrote.
BereanBeacon1 6 months ago
@BereanBeacon1 You mistake infallibility for sinlessness or impeccability. The Pope, my dad, your mom etc.... are all sinners (and so were the apostles). Yet that didn't stop Christ from calling them to serve. I always find it puzzling how someone who claims to be a Christian can ignore the writings of the early Church. As I said though you, would have to be a Christian to heed them so, I can understand why you would ignore them. The same way you ignore what the bible says and teaches.

St Ignatius - Letter to the Smyrnaeans
Chapter 8. Let nothing be done without the bishop

Here's a great YouTube video that will help folks to understand the early Church, which was and continues to be the Catholic Church -
Search YouTube for "The Church Fathers."
The Catholic Church Fathers - like St. Ignatius of Antioch and St. Polycarp and St. Augustine and many others - were Bishops of the Catholic Church.
We can learn so much about the Church Our Lord founded by reading their writings which have been preserved by the Catholic Church for centuries.

@petruscephas You can have your " Church Fathers", but show me the sacraments in the book of Acts. The 8,000 converted Jews in Acts 2 and 4 were saved by the FREE GIFT of God by faith and it had nothing to do with your dead sacraments.
BereanBeacon1 1 year ago
@BereanBeacon1

@petruscephas

"I am a Church historian..."?
and
"... you have undoubtedly been taught many fictions about the Church."?
Those many "fictions" have been proven and even admitted by the Pope who "apologized" for the crimes he and his Vatican have committed. I bet you call yourself a "historian" just because you, like in your own words, "have undoubtedly been taught many fictions about the church".
Denying the fact that the Catholic Church murdered Protestants is worse than Holocaust denial.

gneisenau321,
Before I respond to your post I would ask you a question.
Would you please tell me the names of two solid, authoritative and accurate texts you have read on the 2,000 year history of the Catholic Church?
Any books written by Lorraine Boettner, Jack Chick or James White do not qualify as either solid, authoritative or accurate.
Thank you. I will await your answer.

I would also recommend that you read "The Fathers Know Best: Your Essential Guide to the Teachings of the Early Church".
The author, Jimmy Akin is a convert to the Church from evangelicalism and the book's forward was written by Marcus Grodi who is also a convert to the Church.
In both cases it was the writings of the Church Fathers, many of whom were Catholic Bishops, that brought these two men to the fullness of the truth of Christ in the Catholic Church.
Good luck to you.
petruscephas 11 months ago
@petruscephas

@psevdhome he did not say The Paulicians where called after paul .if they where not called paulicians did bennett make the word paulicians up and if so ,why do you talk about this paul of Samosata
beingther 1 year ago

Or?

@beingther Maybe we are using the word saint in a different way. You mean in the way it is used in the Bible I presume, as in one of God's people, regenerate and so on. With that I agree. But he is not a saint in the other sense of the word. As in a great teacher and an example to christians. The stuff he says about the early church is wrong, so he is either lying i. e. knows that it is wrong. Or he is deceived, meaning he thinks it is true, even though it is not. That's why

It was grace that brought God's people out of enslavement in Egypt, it was grace that brought them back from exile in Babylon, and it is grace by which those who accept enter into relationship with Christ our sin is expiated and God's wrath propitiated. By works, we can NEVER atone for our sin.
hairychest45 2 years ago 4
2OF2
Works based Christianity i.e. roman catholicism is an abomination of the central doctrine that we are justified by grace, so that no one may boast (Romans 3 and Ephesian 2:8 - 10). Works based christianity is fundamentally malicious and dangerous, and arrests any prospect of a personal relationship with Christ.
hairychest45 2 years ago
Grace, grace, amazing saving grace! Scripture is clear, it is by grace. The James text refers to work done by someone who has ALREADY experienced saving grace i.e. the work done is a fulfillment of, and made possible by, faith. This work would be work of the Spirit and would therefore bear the fruits of the Spirit (Galations 5). It is clear that James was writing to Christians encouraging them not to be apathetic, but to let the transforming influence of Christ be seen in their actions/works.

Ignatius of Antioch - 107 AD
"Where the bishop is present, there is the Catholic Church" (To the Smyrnaeans 8:2).
This man "forgets" to mention these quotes, and the thousands of others, which show that the early Church WAS Catholic, and held the teachings of the Church!!!
iotaunam1 2 years ago 2
Catholic means universal. The Church was called "catholic" because it means just that. The Church contains all Christians. In the 6th Century, the church in Rome began using this title as it's own. The True Church is catholic in nature. It contains all Christians, not just Catholics. The Roman Catholic Church is very different from the early catholic church.
NewJerusalem777 2 years ago
Fistly, Christ founded only one Church - Mt 16:18. All other churches, though they claim to worship Christ, and call themselves "christian", they are not truly Christian who are not members of the body of Christ (the Church).
You are correct in saying that "catholic" means universal. However, Catholic was soon adopted to describe the one true Church of Christ, and distinguish it form the heretical ones springing up, which denied one or more of His teachings.
iotaunam1 2 years ago
In addition, St Ignatius of Antioch uses the term Catholic to name this one true Church in the earliest written use of the term, which had no doubt been in existence for some time before. This was in 107AD.
There are some heretics who reject the Church, and therefore try to say that Ignatius reffered only to the "universal" Church. However, their position is refuted by the fact that Ignatius wrote about the Eucharist, Bishops, Our Lady etc -all Catholic theology.

the roman catholic pagan satanic church is all the proof I need. and if you were following the Jesus of the bible you would run from the RCC. Why dont you prove your church by the bible, you cant and if you tried and had a pure heart you would be lead away from the rcc by the Holy Spirit
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
yeah, typical "born again" mentality.
Mite0m 2 years ago
You got that right. Im very intolerant of satan and his paganism. Jesus is the one that said a person must be born again to enter the kingdom
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
intolerant of your paranoid ideals more like it.
Have a great day.

Once again, if you are not Catholic, don't plan on being one, why on Earth are you frequenting sites spewing forth hate "opinions" and try to pass it off as your deep theory? Leave it be then.
Spawn of Satan is YOUR mind.

lordrothchild21 2 years ago
you just confessed that you are a "slanderer".
-Bishop Fulton Sheen.
We pray to the same God, brother.
Mite0m 2 years ago
@Mite0m Sir I know exactly what I said. I put hours and hours of research of the catholic church. I specially like to listen to exchatholic priests. In history it is well documented that Constantine intentionally mixed paga practices when officially forming the catholic church.
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
For the record and as you know, there are too many former Protestants that returned "home" so to speak. But it's good that we can have a chat like this.
As for the "paganism" in RCC. I do not know in what context this quote is taken from that you gave me. I DO know that there is pagan DNA in many of everybody's traditions, holidays, etc. And you can bet, if there are "pagan" customs in RCC then it will be found in mostly everything. Yet, I don't know where you are going with this or what this?
Mite0m 2 years ago
@Mite0m well the early church didnt subcribe to pagan pracitices. The Rcc is a result of many teachers gaining preeminence and finally political power and ultimately used by constantine as a power base.
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
@lordrothchild21 with the utmost respect, you are going to have to prove that with not one, but many sources....I've heard it all before. If you studied the RCC as long as you claim you have then you should have studied Martin Luther and the problems, yes problems he ushered in along with the Reformation being that you consider yourself a Protestant which as you know is also Protester.
Seriously, brother, we can go around and around - on and on.
As I said, we both pray to the same God.
Peace.
Mite0m 2 years ago
@Mite0m actually I dont consider myself a protestant. And why would we go round and round about facts. The rcc and its practices has no biblical foundation. As a honest studier, I see no evidence for it.
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
Sir, I humbly and respectfully ask...what the heck are you studying???!! The RCC traces back to the Apostles and Jesus, (same as the Orthodox). "Practices"? "No Biblical Foundation"? Either you are in willful denial, or sir, you are not studying half of what you claim.
The whole RC Mass is filled with Sacred Scripture, and nothing but praise to our Lord. What on Earth are you talking about? seriously, I do not understand. No Biblical foundation? Are you mad?
Mite0m 2 years ago
@Mite0m that question is easily answered. Just listen to the guy in this video. I would every source I ever read on the matter says the rcc was officially formed 311 ad and before that, in the church fathers own writings. I mean come on sir!
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
The church was "formed"? Christ left the keys to Peter then later Ascended to Heaven leaving his Apostles to spread the word = Hence, Sacred Tradition. The Bible did not come yet. It is said the birth of Roman Catholcism was at Pentecost. I am not just making it up that's factual. Eventually Peter made his way to Rome = Roman Catholic.
I have no idea what anti-Catholic Propaganda you are reading or where you pull this date out of?
Mite0m 2 years ago
@Mite0m all of the history books concerning constantine. Jesus did not leave the keys to peter and Im not really trying to convince you otherwise, I simply dont agree with your or any other catholics interpretation of that scripture. Jesus was talking about the revalation that peter said about Him being the Christ. Peter was used by satan and Jesus said get behing me satan. Paul withstood peter to his face because peter was wrong. APOSTLE PETER WAS NOT THE FIRST POPE the dates even dont alow
lordrothchild21 2 years ago
the whole Protestant movement hangs on that Scripture ....well, YOUR intureptation of that Scripture.
Acts 15 gives an account ....
Mite0m 2 years ago
...#2 continued..
of the first Council, the council of Jerusalem. Called at the request of St. Paul..first 12 chapters of Acts which describe early church in Jerusalem, every chapter except 6&7 show St. Peter in a leadership position while St. James appears only briefly and not in a leadership role. Peter lead meetings which elected the first successor to an Apostle, Acts 1:13-26...preached the first sermon at Pentecost 2:14...

lordrothchild21 2 years ago
Yeah what?
"Ignatius . . . to the church also which holds the presidency, in the location of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and, because you hold the presidency in love, named after Christ and named after the Father" (Letter to the Romans 1:1)
