Then once she seperated she stopped Miyoko from making that wish by saving her family thus defeating her for good.

She is Rika, Higurashi main character, the Rika who lived 100 years posessing another innocent Rikas from a lot of worlds over and over until she defeated Takano. After Higurashi she noticed that, because of her maturity, she isn't Rika anymore so she ascended to the witch world leaving Rika's body. Rika forgot everything and became a normal girl again, while her adult self is now Bernkastel~
You should read the novels, they are 1983 times better than the anime ^_^

XD Higurashi shows what's going on through the eyes of the game pieces, and Umineko shows all the "behind the scenes" action. In Umineko, The witch of Miracles, Bernkastel, reveals that she played a "game of endurance" against Lambdadelta, which is Higurashi. As a player, she created, or used, her piece named Furude Rika to see if she could withstand the tragic fate. Because Rika died and was reborn constantly for more than 100 years, a fragment from her horrible memories was created into Frederica Bernkastel, which probably is the serious personality she has in Kai, and that Bern no longer needs to use Rika??
In the original games, these scenes are called "Tea Parties" and she's talking to you, the player. In the second chapter's tea party, she's pretty much telling you that if you thought Higurashi was hard, Umineko is going to be torture. Then she goes on to say "In times like these, what did I use to say? Fight... Fight... Oh yeah. Mii...Nipah~*" (Rika also used to say "Fight ON!" to cheer her friends (usually Keiichi) up)
From Umineko perspective, Higurashi was a game between Bernkastel and Lambdadelta, Rika was Bernkastel piece, and Miyo was Lambdadelta piece. there are some details that i didn't complete understand, like some people saying that Bernkastel was 'born' from Rika's victory over Miyo, but i doubt that. Like Lambda said "There is no way she could win only with pawns against my Rooks and Bishops, so a let her put her pieces whenever she wanted, and she put all her pawns on my side!"
@victorpresti You are partially right, except Bernkastel wasn't playing. It is either Featherine and Lambdadelta's game, or Featherine's game where she fights against a piece. Remember, some pieces can move themselves. Bernkastel came to exist when Rika lost for the very first time (at least, I think so). Bernkastel was most likely just observing Featherine beat the piece known as Rika Furude over and over.
Umineko Bernkastel never confirms that she and Higurashi Bernkastel are the same
Bernkastel was a Piece before she become a Witch, but to become a Witch, she stayed in hell for a long time, trying to solve the Logical Error caused for a mistake of her Master.Unless this game itself was her hell, but she didn't look 'broken' to me when she meet Rika.
That's why a don't believe 'Bernkastel was born from that game', but Featherine could be playing, as you said.
@victorpresti I'm not actually so sure what to think anymore, especially since the ties between Higurashi and Umineko are very hard to understand. Others believe Lambdadelta has ties to Higurashi, and is simply Miyo Takano, but that's not the case. She also has a large part of Satoko's personality, therefore making me unsure which one Lambda is connected to: Satoko or Takano. She might not even be connected at all. I meant Bern was born from the fragments of Rika's world, not the actual game.

Lambda actually shares more personality similarities with Satoko than Takano, although she shares traits from both. Lambda shares the same playfulness as Satoko, and she can also be quite harsh or even violent like Satoko (I call Satoko harsh/violent because she can make a trap that launches over 20 spears at the trigger of the trap). They're both extremely childish and immature.

Umineko and Higurashi don't cross plots, but you can find some character similarities in Umineko to the point where people speculate they are, in fact, fragments of the Higurashi characters (For example, the girl in this video, Bernkastel, may be a version of Rika who has given up hope). Bernkastel is most definitely not Rika. Bernkastel is more like Frederica Bernkastel, supposedly Rika's hundreds or thousands of memories from past words/fragments.
The thing is, Bernkastel's eyes have no light in them, while Frederica's do, implying Frederica still has hope left while Bernkastel doesn't.
There are a lot of references between Umineko to Higurashi; you could say Bernkastel is like Rika, Lambdadelta is like Takano, Featherine is like Hanyuu, and they were part of a previous game..
As I recall, Bern actually does say Nipah~ to cheer Battler up, during the...second secret tea party? that or the first, I think. Don't know if it happens during the anime too, but it was pretty unsettling, even she claims its embarrassing.
Thats right, I just finished chapter 4 a while ago. Right at the very very end, I had the odd impression that Bernkastel may not be Rika, or at the very least, the same one we know.
I'm sure I remember reading that she isn't Rika. But when she said Mii~ and Nipah~ in the tea party I got the impression she'd done if before. Plus it says when she was human Lambda trapped her in a similar situation to Battler, and Rika certainly was trapped like that.
I dont care what people say, the same guy who makes higurashi creates Umineko and places the spitting image of Rika Furude in it, just older. I tell you, I did not watch Umineko, but I do not buy for a second that that woman is not Rika after she finally escaped from 1956

With what gets left out of the Higurashi anime (Umineko anime leaves much out as well), you wouldn't be able to tell. Just know that the episode previews in Higurashi are narrated by someone named Frederika Bernkastel.

In the original games, these scenes are called "Tea Parties" and she's talking to you, the player. In the second chapter's tea party, she's pretty much telling you that if you thought Higurashi was hard, Umineko is going to be torture. Then she goes on to say "In times like these, what did I use to say? Fight... Fight... Oh yeah. Mii...Nipah~*" (Rika also used to say "Fight ON!" to cheer her friends (usually Keiichi) up)

From Umineko perspective, Higurashi was a game between Bernkastel and Lambdadelta, Rika was Bernkastel piece, and Miyo was Lambdadelta piece. there are some details that i didn't complete understand, like some people saying that Bernkastel was 'born' from Rika's victory over Miyo, but i doubt that. Like Lambda said "There is no way she could win only with pawns against my Rooks and Bishops, so a let her put her pieces whenever she wanted, and she put all her pawns on my side!"

@victorpresti You are partially right, except Bernkastel wasn't playing. It is either Featherine and Lambdadelta's game, or Featherine's game where she fights against a piece. Remember, some pieces can move themselves. Bernkastel came to exist when Rika lost for the very first time (at least, I think so). Bernkastel was most likely just observing Featherine beat the piece known as Rika Furude over and over.

Bernkastel was a Piece before she become a Witch, but to become a Witch, she stayed in hell for a long time, trying to solve the Logical Error caused for a mistake of her Master.Unless this game itself was her hell, but she didn't look 'broken' to me when she meet Rika.
That's why a don't believe 'Bernkastel was born from that game', but Featherine could be playing, as you said.

@victorpresti I'm not actually so sure what to think anymore, especially since the ties between Higurashi and Umineko are very hard to understand. Others believe Lambdadelta has ties to Higurashi, and is simply Miyo Takano, but that's not the case. She also has a large part of Satoko's personality, therefore making me unsure which one Lambda is connected to: Satoko or Takano. She might not even be connected at all. I meant Bern was born from the fragments of Rika's world, not the actual game.

@x3FallenProfile well For one she looks exactly like the child version of takano but we've already established this much x3 she does have the same goals and motivates when going against the rika figure like she did in higurashi, Another similarity would be her name "Lambdadelta" (λδ) which represents thirty-four when using Greek numerals and "Miyo" (三四) can translated as "three, four" in Japanese, strengthening their connection.

@x3FallenProfile another thing is in the visual novel (im not sure if it was in the anime can't remember) She stated she had done a battle with bernkastel previously, now umineko's setting is 1986 while higurashi's setting is 1983 those are all my clues XD I also think she looks nothing like satako other than size hair color and eye color : O

@TaigaXAzunyanX She stated that in EP3, I think, and it was not in the anime, but it was in the Visual Novel. Lambda actually shares more personality similarities with Satoko than Takano, although she shares traits from both. Lambda shares the same playfulness as Satoko, and she can also be quite harsh or even violent like Satoko (I call Satoko harsh/violent because she can make a trap that launches over 20 spears at the trigger of the trap). They're both extremely childish and immature.

@blissfullyawake @blissfullyawake Well...it's kind of a complex answer. I'll do my best to explain. This is from the creator of Higurashi. It's called umineko no naku koro ni. Umineko and Higurashi don't cross plots, but you can find some character similarities in Umineko to the point where people speculate they are, in fact, fragments of the Higurashi characters (For example, the girl in this video, Bernkastel, may be a version of Rika who has given up hope). I hope this helps!

Actually, the subtitles for the original VNs of both Higurashi and Umineko read "When They Cry"
The two higurashi games read When They Cry and When They Cry 2
The two Umineko games read When They Cry 3 and When They Cry 4
SillyLittleSongbird is right, they don't cross plots, but in Umineko there are little tiny hints that say there might be more to Higurashi than what meets the eye. But only little hints. Umineko is a story of its own, and pretty much stands alone.

Bernkastel is most definitely not Rika. Bernkastel is more like Frederica Bernkastel, supposedly Rika's hundreds or thousands of memories from past words/fragments.
The thing is, Bernkastel's eyes have no light in them, while Frederica's do, implying Frederica still has hope left while Bernkastel doesn't.
There are a lot of references between Umineko to Higurashi; you could say Bernkastel is like Rika, Lambdadelta is like Takano, Featherine is like Hanyuu, and they were part of a previous game..

As I recall, Bern actually does say Nipah~ to cheer Battler up, during the...second secret tea party? that or the first, I think. Don't know if it happens during the anime too, but it was pretty unsettling, even she claims its embarrassing.

I'm sure I remember reading that she isn't Rika. But when she said Mii~ and Nipah~ in the tea party I got the impression she'd done if before. Plus it says when she was human Lambda trapped her in a similar situation to Battler, and Rika certainly was trapped like that.

With what gets left out of the Higurashi anime (Umineko anime leaves much out as well), you wouldn't be able to tell. Just know that the episode previews in Higurashi are narrated by someone named Frederika Bernkastel.
