I mean, these things are next to worthless.

Earlyer I was like WTF HELL YEAH once I got diamonds, but now I just see it as "a requirement to go to the Nether".

You can just download the Technic/Tekkit mod pack.

In there you have WAAAAAAAAY more ores, like Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, copper, nikolite, something which looks like coal, but it isn't, tin, and you get marbles, they make a great building material.
