I read that most of these kind of ideas can already be done. Augmented reality and such can be done now. One you just need companies to write the programs, two then people need to start using them, then as each of these 2 areas grow it becomes more and more common to see them all being used. The one major invention we lack is small to large paper thin cheap displays like in Minority report, which is a few years away.

The projection of the calendar on the bedroom wall and the student checking into school were two of my favorites.
