The pro-war v anti-war debate always starts a "chicken and egg" argument that no-one can win. Since the seventies, successive UK governments have been using Scotland's oil to keep their budgets as nearly balanced as possible. Mrs. Thatcher used it to pay for the mass unemployment caused by the closure of unprofitable nationalised industries. We have been keeping UK PLC afloat for decades.

And it's not just the British SAS who often display those qualities you describe. The New Zealand and Australian are of the same mould. You are a Soldier first. A profession second. If it comes to a time of need every Soldier must be able to puck up a weapon and defend his/her self and the others around them regardless weather they be a Chef or Administrator. Yes, the war is about oil/energy etc, but it's also about the centralisation of power both economically and adminnistratively, like the way the EU has become. It's also about trying to bring reduce the world's population part of the agenda of the Bilderberg group...possibly leading to WWIII.

The UN the EU the IMF etc are all about securing buisness interests and bringing free market capitalism to the world,and protecting the capitalist establishment.If you have been watching Alex Jones by any chance listen to his "the nukes have been launched" radio show. John Perkins' "Confessions of an Economic hitman" paints a much more credible picture.

The pro-war v anti-war debate always starts a "chicken and egg" argument that no-one can win. It is exactly the same as the "better red than dead" v "better dead than red" factions of society during the cold war. Neither side will ever be convinced by the other no matter what facts or figures are produced. Both arguments have valid points but in the main it's like trying to convince an orange lover that apples taste better and vice versa...

@76soutie - I have to say I disagree with both your statement and analogy. The vast majority of Americans were for the war in Iraq but as the bodies pilled up and they realized they had been lied to about weapons of mass destruction they changed their position. I actually supported both wars initially but changed my mind and many people I know did. 5000 coalition troops dead and half a million Iraqis - for what? We are not safer and if anything far less safe.

@76soutie - I don't ever get involved in angry debates. But I do enjoy watching the many different things on YouTube and I do enjoy having polite sharing of ideas or discussions. I think your statement holds true for things like religion and politics but most wars like Vietnam or Korea start with popular support but people soon turn against them. Anyway have a good day.

You can not fight fire with fire, it only increases the flame. If we are going to win any fight it will be won through acts of unselfish love. An apt description of "unselfish love" is appreciation, compassion, humility, understanding, forgiveness and valor. Unselfish love on a mass level will win the battle without a single bullet or bomb. When the soldiers in every nation refuse to wave their guns defending our leaders selfish desires we will all succeed to find the peace we ALL desire.

@sandietxf Well said, if you analize the reasons a lot of young lads sign up for war the most common is "I want to fight for my country" but lets look at that. Firstly they are not fighting for thier country they are fighting for the extremely rich and powerfull who have "special interests" and use the armed forces for thier own gain.
Patriotism is used as a tool.

I think if we want different results we are going to have to do things in a completely new way. Get off the tit of corporate america and the monetary/credit systems. We simply have to change the way we are going to act if we want a different reaction.

Btw guys i am not saying torture and execution is right, i am just saying that if it is nessasary, you should be allowed to torture or execute a prisoner. Eg: a large bomb is hidden in a plane. I wouldent think twice about torturing the guy with the answers
