  • Excellent...!!!

  • For me, M.Barrientos is also one of the greatest Sopranos ever sung. This voices are all so wonderfull, one is better than the other, so is my opinion ! For me incredible the quality from this so old recording.

  • Pleasing rendition. It's interesting that nearly half the comments compare Barrientos to Galli-Curci....for good reason. There is greater commonality than difference. Thanks for this posting.

  • Simply amazing voice and incredible quality for a recording from 105 years ago! (:-o)

  • SUBLIME!!!!

  • hey that´s a rarity ! world class

  • Next to the smooth sweetness of a Galli Curci, Barrientos may seem rougher and more tremulous, her passagework less polished. But I love the sultry timbre of her gutsy voice, not nearly so white as other bird singers, and her top is certainly better than Galli Curci's. And in tune.

  • The voice & attack indeed quite different from Galli-Curci's, though both are very nice. Thanks to themfromspace for posting, and to AE for sharing!

  • @AulicExclusiva In comparing Barrientos and Galli-Curci, Lauri-Volpi states that neither was helped by physical assets, both were excellent musicians, and that, while Barrientos had a dazzling upper register and a vibrant nature, Galli-Curci had a suavity and grace in her legato phrasing and a melancholy temperament. I would add that Galli-Curci--like Barrientos--had a sultry timbre, particularly in her middle register; this is much more evident in her electrical recordings.

  • Thank You
