@abby123456789100 I'd definitely say go with the 1.4. I had the 1.8II for a while and just had to get rid of it.... the build quality is horrible and it's really difficult to find good copies of the 1.8. But for the price the 1.4 is AMAZING! I love it, I seriously shoot on my $400 1.4 probably 80% of the time while my L glass just sits in my bag.
I have a friend (professional photographer) who is selling a Tamron 28-75mm 2.8f for $65. Is this a good price for a gently used lens? Could I get any good use from this?
@abby123456789100 nope none what so ever no no no. total waste of money. but what to do is tell your mate about me and ill buy it off him (just so others dont waste their money) and ill do my best with it.
When I use this lens on my canon 60D in video mode and the movie-exposure is set to "auto", then it makes the clicking sounds whenever I move around to film objects at different distance. This clicking sound goes away, if I set the movie-exposure to "manual". This problem doesn't happen on my other canon lenses. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this same problem too? Thanks!
@Dombowerphoto - The clicking sounds came from inside the lens. Today I tried it again, the problem doesn't seem to persist anymore. Perhaps, I didn't mount the lens properly last time (although I had thought of that and tried to unmount and remount it for a couple of times). I will play around with it more and update what I find here later on. Thanks!

Hi Dom! Great video and thank you for making it! I'm curious if this lens can be used for low light night time photography as well as street photography besides the portrait ability that you absolutely love it for. I was trying to decide between saving up for 30mm sigma 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 nikkor primes vs just getting this and the tamron does look very attractive!
@DBOATYZ oh difficult question both are very good and a lot cheaper than nikons version. test them both out and see which one you like the feel of the most
@DBOATYZ if youve not purchased yet,all i can say is ive had two new sigma 24 70 f2.8s,make sure you try the lens first, both were really poor at anything wider (aperture) than 5.6,2.8 was useless,But i have a siggy 70 200 2.8 which is Pin Sharp,i really think that sigma have serious Consistency problems in their quality of lens performance
Dom, I have got the Sigma 15-50 OS lens, and am thinking of a second lens, either Tokina 11-16mm or 70-200mm. In the zoom lens, which is better, Tamron or Sigma as I can't afford a Nikon.
@aidanhill whats better? oranges or lemons? its what you want to do with them thats the point. ill make a video on the 70-200 benefits of sigma vs tamron soon
@Dombowerphoto I have a canon dslr and I put a lens hood on it. The thing is, the lens hood rotates with the lens when I focus. Help please?

the canon "un-extends" when you zoom

Hi Dom, I was wondering how come in other reviews, their auto focus speed is slow on nikon cameras, any ideas... yours is pretty fast.

foSteezy 11 months ago
@foSteezy ive shot for magazines with this lens at f2.8 a number of times. no problem. maybe it depends on the example, or if you are a pixel peeper

@vincelaw interesting. i have never heard of this before. where do you think the clicking sound coming from?

@DBOATYZ Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 is a very sharp lens with excellent picture quality. i would strongly suggest that you get that lens.

Hey Dom.. is your version with a screwdriver focus..? or internal focus??

@34Muflon screwdriver, i think the new ones have internal but mine was second hand and a bargain!

@zivsaulo the f2.8…. aka this one
Dombowerphoto 1 year ago
Hello Dombower, since you are using a dx format dslr camera, actually your focal length with this lens should be 42-112mm.
