  • Of coarse looks isnt everything interesting.Navistar International claims this is their last series of trucks they believe the average owner operator will be able to afford.Amazing theyre honesty.Pricing yourself out of a market share when you havent payed back the money borrowed from Canadian tax payers.I understand they have no recollection of the money either.I dont know what pisses me off more my government for lending them the money or Navistar for the poor quality of the ProStar.

  • i've seen a couple of these rigs and they are BADASS machines to have in a fleet

  • we got about 20 International trucks and perdue feed mill and them things are junk. They stay broke down !!!! The boss of the shop told me that he bet me that i couldn't trade a fleet of International for one freightliner .. They are junk, they way things are now with fuel tires and every thing else a man would go in the hole for sure if he bought an International ... The feed mill is loosing so much money cauce of these trucks they are putting me and all the other drivers on 4 days a week

  • Oh yeah , forgot to mention , If you really think driving a stick with a non synchro is better than with a synchro , then you`re pretty dumb , Synchro boxes make driving safer , you can change down without your right foot having to rev the engine , you can keep your right foot on the brake as you shift , allowing much safer downhill driving , mountain driving for example. You say "Standard tranny" , Standard to where ? America ? , Standard in Europe is Synchro , I know which i prefer.

  • @anglodale each has it's advantage but you'd wear out a european truck trying to run it in north america.

    FTR in america small cars and trucks have synchromesh trannies, the big trucks don't.; Primarily because synchromesh trannies are weaker and with all the miles trucks will see in it's lifetime the synchronizer will wear out and need servicing.

  • @killer2600 With all due respect , Bullshit! its true , trucks in the US do rack up high miles , but the majority is spent on the freeway in top gear, when they do come off the freeway its usually close to the delivery point, US cities are designed that way , Commercial zones usually have easy access from a main road. I`ve driven Euro trucks with over 500k miles and they have shown no sign of damage to the synchro , and these trucks spend more time in urban areas going through the "box" .

  • @anglodale It's true we have more highway over here but getting to the shipper or receiver isn't always so simple there are places where trucks have to go that aren't truck friendly. But that's beside the point the real point is the land over here isn't all flat; we have hills, mountains, and traffic too. I've not seen much of europes truck traffic but trucks in america are usually 70+ feet long and pull upwards of 80,000. I don't recall seeing many 53' trailers in europe.

  • @killer2600 I think its the same the world over that some places to get to arent truck friendly , and trucks in Europe are shorter, a standard semi would be around 60' , but in my humble opinion, and from my experiences on both continents, driving a semi in Europe requires more skill, the road network is derived from Roman roads, and was built for horses and carts! Try driving a 60' combo around London, not for the faint hearted! US drivers have no idea how much space they have.

  • Also , weight wise , European trucks carry more weight than US trucks , a standard semi in the US is 80,000 lbs on 5 axles , in most of Europe a 5 axle truck would be 41,000 kilo`s = 90,200 lbs , but the most popular axle arrangement is 3 + 3 , A tri axle trailer being pulled by a 3 axle tractor is becoming the general standard and grosses 44,000 kilo`s = 96,800 lbs. So they do pull a lot of weight , mainly its to compensate for the limits on length, If you cant go longer go heavier !!

  • @anglodale Roads are generally accomodating in the US, but as with anywhere it isn't always so. There are places where drivers have to take their truck where trucks don't belong. Weight wise the US does have heavier trucks but general freight is limited to 80,000 lbs, anything higher needs a permit. Also the typical truck is a 20 ft long sleeper berth tractor pulling a 53' trailer, we do have longer setups - two 53' trailers and a tractor is the longest I've seen.

  • Rabiesthecat , Ever driven a European truck ? And I dont mean a North American made ( badly ) Volvo . If you had you`d soon realise that European trucks beat American trucks hands down for ride comfort , technology , emission controls , MPG , power and driveability , the only thing American trucks have the edge on is the sleeper space and too many amber lights !

  • @CashDog911 If you notice, the basic cab of all current Internationals from DuraStar on up are basically the same.

  • @CashDog911 and some interior upgrades. Besides the basics like in this video, you can also get the bed upgraded to a couch, and hardwood floors, etc.

  • The LoneStar isn't the best looking truck in my opinion (I like the looks of a Mack Granite or Titan the best) but the Lone Stars still look REALLY nice! I'd love to see one as a Tri-Axle with a day cab.

  • Nah, my dad business has ran on fords and nats and we decided to goto freightliner one time and we'll never go back. International has the most comfortable and reliable trucks out there ("my opinion" because i've had only good experiences with them)

  • Americans still dont know how to but the steering wheel that way it would be nice to drive. Look for exaple Scania. I thnki one of the best streering wheel positions.

  • American trucks generally have tilt and telescopic adjustable steering columns. The wheel position IS adjustable for driver preference. This is one badass truck.

  • High end american trucks have adjustable steering columns. The truck does not have to be driven with the wheel like shown. This is one badass truck!!

  • I agree. it´s very comfortable to drive with a Scania. the drivers position is kind of low though.
