OMG! I love this breed I have one but it's fur is golden and has a body of a pitbull which is usually fat but mine is very thin . I wish I could learn her to do those tricks!!! ^-^
Inspired - thank you! A very good job! Mine learned to slam the door - Mom babysat - and shut the dogs out of the bedroom instead of instead every night! On my return more. My Male Ridgeback Gamka watches everything!

@rogersmmr Beautiful dog, RD's are the best dogs ever... How did you teach him to get you the remote?! If I teach that to my dog, I'm NEVER getting up again. ;)
@musicofnote1 Thank you. :-) I've heard of Kyra's book, but haven't seen it yet. We figured most of these out as we went along. I'm learning as fast as my dogs can teach me. ;-)
@rogersmmr - many moons ago we started using her book and have incorporated many of the tricks into our Dog Dancing Choreos. I completed her Certified Trick Dog Instructor certification a couple of months ago. It's so much fun teaching the tricks and gets easier the more she learns. I've always loved RRidgebacks and yours is just gorgeous. And such a talented Trick Dog!
I applaud your patience and skill! I am utterly jealous of both you and your dog. Now if only I could get my little muttster to get some of these down... :)
ADORABLE! You are one very lucky owner... My Ridgeback does most of this tricks as well, the "clean up your toys" was really hard to teach... He also does Obedience. Sadly he won't do any of this with the camera ready, he's a wierd dog! But I do have vids of him playin' around, check them out ;)
Wow he's amazing! What a great team you guys are :) How did you get him to understand what the bell means. I've got no idea how you would teach that. Also how did you train Bounce as a trick. Do you have any vids i can watch about that?
Wow did your doggy go to training classes? My miniature dachshund Abbey, didn't but I taught her like 16-18 tricks also :) But those tricks are just things that dogs do...... I mean she doesn't close the door, bring the remote and give it back to you, or ring the bell...... how did you teach your dog that? I'm also trying to teach my dog how to bow........ ?
Congrats on teaching your pup so many tricks. I love working with my dogs & learn so much from them. We train using clicker training. There are lots of good videos on YouTube. I think zsianz1 has one on teaching bow. Her channel is excellent. Also, check out kikopup. She has some wonderful tutorial videos, as well. Good luck and have fun. :-)
Thank you very much. We had a lot of fun learning the tricks. These are just a series of behaviors strung together. Let me know which ones you are interested in and I'll send you a message with the details. Do you have a ridgeback?
He is very smart! Is he a pure ridgeback? He looks like a vizla to me... However, I think you are a lovely trainer and this is a lovely video! How did you teach him to get the remote control, toys, etc.?
Thank you for your nice comments. Yes - he is full Rhodesian Ridgeback. Ridgebacks can come with 2 color noses. They can have a black nose (more common). If they have a black nose they should have brown eyes. They can also have a brown/red nose (like Chase). That is called a livernose. If they have a livernose, they should have yellow eyes. I will send you a video on how to teach put toys away. :-)
Very impressive. I have a chocolate lab mix (Dudley) and he knows sit, go to your cage, and for a scooby doo treat my husband puts it on his nose and then he catches it in his mouth. You gave me some ideas to do, we will see how impressive my dog does. How long did it take you to train Chase?
I use clicker training with my dogs. Some behaviors train very quickly (sit pretty, touch a target, ring the bell) and some behaviors take more time (dusting, stacking plates). It doesn't matter to the dogs, they enjoy all the clicker games. :-) I'd love to see some video of Dudley. You can post his tricks as a video response, if you like.
Dudley had to show his face in one of the videos that I am probably putting out next week. He don't know to many tricks. He does like to play ball. How do you clicker train?
Great job Chase and "Mom"! :) 5 stars! He just wants to please so much, doesn't he? :) You've done a terrific job with training and I love that you can talk to him in full sentences instead of just giving "commands" - that's truly a different level as far as being connected with a dog! :) Looking forward to seeing more! :)
Chase LOVES to play the clicker game and is quick to catch on to the behavior that is being clicked. He can learn simple behaviors usually in one or two sessions (it took him about 3 minutes to learn to blow bubbles). Behavior chains (putting toys away; back-up/turnaround/back through my legs) take a bit longer, depending on the behavior. Thank you for your interest. Hope you're able to get a dog soon. :-)
PLease, please tell me how you got your dog to do these tricks! My girls would love to teach him. They are particularly interested in getting the remote, ringing the bell, putting away toys and playing dead! That was amazing!!
Thank you. We've had a lot of fun with the tricks. My dogs love to problem solve (how do I earn the treat?). I'm sure yours will, too. I look forward to seeing your videos. :-)
Brilliant! - obviously so focussed. I've trained mine to do the same behaviours but the chances of me doing them all in one go so perfectly is remote and he's not as fast as Chase - very laidback in fact!!
Brilliant...love that he holds his positions until you release him, great self control. He makes it all look very easy! Also noticed how he makes sure he "drops dead" on the comfy rug and not the tiled floor...typical RR!!
