Well technically his father is his uncle.

The mother was in an important part of her career when she was pregnant, so being the nice brother, he raised her little boy as his own, however caring for him like a child much along the way developed into love and there ya have it. However as far as Mira is concerned his uncle is more of a parent to him than his mother so it is still a lil odd, but adorable in my opinion! :3
