  • btw I'm not the only one who doesn't know why he was awarded the prize. If you type in your search engine "why did Obama..." the first thing that pops up is "why did Obama win the nobel peace prize" However if you type in why did MLK win the noble peace prize nothing comes up because its obvious. I don't blame Obama. It is an obvious set up...however, I don't think he should have accepted it. That would have been the integral thing to do.

  • I would still like to know why Barack got a Nobel Peace Prize. What did he do to earn a Nobel Peace Prize?? This is just insanity! I honestly think giving him the prize was a set up to make the man complacent and lazy and you know what I think it worked, cause he hasn't done a damn thing since being in office besides bailout the banks, make a pact with the insurance companies to force everyone to get insurance and it took him up to preelections to get our soliders out of Iraq. smh

  • All this Government talk and nothing has been done. You drop 2 bombs over somebodies head now you say no more? America was the creator of the Atom Bomb!! All is Government writing was a MOVIE!!! LOL.

  • @heartlessvietboy The only way to go is RP. He goes by the constitution. He is against the IRS, wants to do away with the Federal Reserve and wants to dismantle all of our overseas military bases, which will tremedously boost our economy. Don't be fooled by the mainstream's lack of coverage; the 2 party system is afraid of this man because he speaks the truth and he is a threat to the establishment. Vote Ron Paul 2012. Get informed!

  • A dude, since the end of the Vietnam War that we lost. That's right we lost. Cause Richard Nixon had proposed the Peace Treaty that the Prime Minister had finally accepted, unlike any other time. Vietnam was a War Monster they love to fight. And they wanted to keep on fighting.

But you get one person who knows the ropes in how to talk to people and they listen. Nixon promised America that he would end that war and he did.

After 30 years of peace Bush creates wars, and never wants it to end.

  • The Noballs Appeasement Prize

  • Super

  • What exactly do you mean by 'lets just get rid of them & the world will be a better place?'

  • @vegabondstu Wait... I know you said this two years ago, but I never got a notification that you responded to me. But as an answer, I was being sarcastic. Picking at stupid hippies who think that we wouldn't need an army/any protection. Pretty much everything beyond "the only military that gets any shit is ours!" was me saying the complete opposite of what I think on the matter.

  • "Obama: Aim of military action goes beyond self-defense."? that is just ridiculous. look at any other countries military, they do the same shit or worse. COME ON! the only military that gets any shit is ours! lets just get rid of them & the world will be at peace. because our military is the only one that did anything. especially the soldiers that were fallowing orders. those ones are the real bad guys. they should be burned at the stake, eh? ppfff...

  • Bush is so stupid. He may wake up one morning with a man on, and some new s--!!

  • Rodney, Bush didnt "cause" 911. Also, there have been "mini wars" since Vietnam like Clinton's 100 dead soldiers in Bosnia and 13 dead in Mogadishu or Reagan's no dead in Grenada

  • One thing i like about Barrack. Him and His admins. has heart when getting down with China. Which every President has always been afraid of. Now Google is threatening to pull out of China, because of cyber attacks, And if so, it would slow down the whole computer network worldwide.

Bush wanted to attack Iran for their oil. But when he found out China had their backs, Bush backed off.

Bush and Cheney was probably was on that plane, quicker than the snap of their finger, when China acts up.

  • Bush wanted to attack Iran ? Really ? Without Congress approval ? Where do you get your facts from ?

  • He was planning an attack on Iran. But he never went all the way through with it. Cause when Bush was making threats about it. China came in on it. Cause China hast a $100 billion

oil deal with Iran, and are allies w/ Iran. So if America attacked Iran, they were going to have to deal w/ China. And

Chna's got a bomb that can blow this whole Country up..America has always been afraid of China. Even during the Vietnam War.

  • But Barrack has got a way of talking to people that makes them want to cooperate. You know what I'm saying? Even with Iran.

And World leaders and Prime Ministers or other Countries have way more respect for Barrack than they ever did for Bush. Obama knows how to talk to people.

And the Republicans are jealous. Hoping that something kick-off. So that he can fail and they rise up again. Do you feel safe w/ somebody like that. A Republican hypocrite, against his own Country?

  • @Rodney1252 You have to be more than charming to win a prize. Look at someone who really earned the prize like MLK. This is an absolute joke and a disgrace!

  • Rodney, youre a stupid guy pretending to be a smart guy. You got uppity now that your president (not mine) is a half breed mullato. He looks like a brother but has a white mommy. The "speaking well" part has something to do with the pre-prepared speech on the telepromptors and his background of being white

  • Well if that was so, then why does Barrack get more respect from other Countries, than your so-called white Presidents. They're too busy bitting their fingernails and shaking. Then trying to talk logical talk. like Barrack

  • Rodney, there's alot of countries out there (esp Europe & Canada) who never liked us and want a weaker USA. Barack is the perfect tool to lay down our arms while the world would like to fuck us. Just watch Iran get a nuclear weapon now because they know that Barack is a weakling

  • what you just said is delusional.

  • That is why we had Peace for just about 30 years, since the end of the Vietnam War, till Cowboy Bush II, came in Office.

  • 3:15

  • But forever Bush had them troops torturing them people and everything.

  • What Obama is doing is creating moral efforts among our troops in Iraq and Afganistan. And showing these Countries that we do goodness in our hearts. You understand what I'm saying? And teaching these troops not to repress the citizens of those Countries, but to respect them, and look out for them. And train their Police force, so that they can rule their own Country again. And while treating them w/ respect you win their hearts, before we leave. You understand what I'm saying? We need that.

  • Hey Rodney, you sound as about as sappy as Obama. Obama just wants to be liked by the entire world You said he is trying to teach the soldiers not to repress the citizens--yea once again, the silly 'America is bad and imperiistic' crap that we all heard before. And you with your 12year old girly logic believe the men and women who defend our country are nothing more than barbarians. Well when you sleep sound tonite, our proud solders say to you-- "your welcome".

  • @Rodney1252 @Rodney1252 I'm sorry to burst your bubble but Obama didn't deserve a nobel prize. First off they gave it to him before he's done anything. I mean he literally just got into office and they gave him the prize. You are delusional if you think that he's done anything remotely deservant of that kind of a prize. They set the guy up to fail by awarding this kind of honor for doing jack.

  • I've criticized this president enough when I believed he was wrong now let me defend him now that he's articulated, very well I might add, America's policy of peace. Understand this, peace doesn't mean the absence of war. Only the delusional citizens of Utopia believe that. The world is governed by the aggressive use of force, like it or not. Force/military might is the big stick. Do you want it wielded by the good or the evil?

  • One thing about doing wrongs, never do something where a consequence will cost you more than the item you are trying to steal.

O yeah, Bush thought that Iraq was going to fall on their bending knees and give into him. He thought wrong. And that is when them Insurgencies started popping up w/ roadside bombs, and rocker propelled granades. killing as many as 300 soldiers a month

George is a heck of a shoplifter isn't he. He needs to be doing life in Prison for stealing a bag of chips. Ole doe doe

  • He's channelling George W. Bush. He has become a zombie puppet of the U.S. military junta. Sad. He's already a broken man.

  • Thank you Mr. President for using your superior gift of oration to justify genocide...

  • It's not him, it's the teleprompter.

  • Wanting to stop atrocities from occurring through coalition building is not naive. It is wise. Obama is a scholar of history and understands his role as president of the United States.

  • If this was Bush talking. The only thing that would be coming out of his mouth is that we are at war with Iraq. And constantly blaming them for 9-11

Barrack never at one time blamed Iraq for 9-11. He blamed Afganistan

He said, the Iraq war is coming to an end. But Afganistan may take a little while longer because they are trying to root out the Taliban

  • AMEN!!!!

  • Afganistan doesn''t have nothing Bush wants. that is why he used it as an excuse to invade Iraq, who had nothing to do with it. And it was for Iraq's oil.

  • Right.....That's why Iraq controls and recieves the profits for the oil. Why not just take the country over and issue an executive order that all Iraqi oil, is property of the US govt. Never happened.

  • Hitler and an american soldier are same

no problem to kill a person (enemy)

that a dangerous spiecies to a man kind

now give the prize to a monk

    lol

  • He ain't the cause of this War Bush was. Now Obama has to clean up behind Bush's ole trifling tail

  • that's what bush used to say

    war is a crime

  • peace will come with price

    so wrong

that's what bush's gov create to shut up American

    peace doesnt require a fight

that's very much independence day like mind

    lol

    grow up now

  • He did nothing to get this prize

  • stupid you

  • Obama. are recieving this Nobel Peace Prize Award Cause you have a sense of moral compass. With the most indefeatable personality there is. Keep up the good work.

  • He also said, that we can have War and still have peace. And that comes from human rights and dignity. And showing these Countries that we have moral value. That way, they are more likely to not be oppressed. Like they were when Bush was in office.

Cause like Obama said. we are all basically alike. We think alike, we want to live out our lives and dreams to the fullest. And want to do unto others as you want them to do unto you. With Bush he oppresses people, and makes them want to fight.

  • Obama said everything right. He said, "Afganistan was the cause of this War." He never at one time blamed innocent Countries, like Bush be doing. He said the Iraq War is coming to an end. He also said that we should not let pride justify our decisions for War. He also said we should not justify our decisions alone., like that ole go it alone Bush.

This way you get more support. That is why today, the U.S. is fighting a useless battle. And this is why Peace will come with a price, like he said.

  • I found him charismatic berfore..., but now he looks like a xoxo person...

  • Elizabeth May (3:18) Green Party Leader of Canada, sitting next to the First Lady. Wonderful.

  • It is quite ironic that this speech was so much much about war but this prize comes at a very awkward time for Obama. He knows we can't just sit around and sing kumbaya while the world around us falls into the dark ages.

  • @Millrider Ye, I can just imagine him sitting there planning to send troops to afghanistan when his messenger runs in: "Sir, you won the Nobel peace price!"

    "......oh crap" :p

  • Actions speak louder than words, Mr. Obama. Hypocrite.

  • perhaps if you have a better solution then say it now.

It is easy to criticize one's words when no one has an alternative.

  • peace is not about not going to war.

  • Obama is the man!!!

  • you can say he is a actor, but you can also say the same then about any political speech. He does address big questions that other nations have about the US. I am proud that he addresses that the goals are fueled by ideas of love and peace. if you trivialize this then you show your fear and cynicism against ideas that children of the world would prove wrong. if we get the children together in one place they would find a way to have fun. but the adult world forgets these virtues, embrace peace

  • it is true that civilians in iraq have suffered, but this is under George Bush, Obama has inherited this legacy...it is easy to be cynical , I am american and also felt that obama may not have earned this award...but in looking at the history of those who earned this award, none had already solved their goals, but it was about a sparks of hopes. Obama speaks of what we can move towards, peace and a world agreement towards being friends. if you believe in love it will not come without a price.

  • what a windbag!

    or maybe a douchbag?

  • At least he believes what he says. Something you can't fathom.

  • He's telling us to use our imaginations and we are seeking the same things.....globalization...He's telling us what we feel. He's an ACTOR and he is winning a political oscar...

  • WW3

  • Obama knows what he is doing! He don't need rogue republikkkans trying to block his achievements!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • U.S. gov must have enough data of human race, religious of culture which show mid eastern people have far different mentality than German or Korean.

For some people, religious is their life. It can't be disposed other than killing them.

It needs long time to communicate culturally.

  • they must have other reason to not end this war. It's hard to understand that's for 'Peace'. It seems more for human ego, more for credit of unsatisfing people.

Obama seems a great person, I hope that he's going to be more impartial. He must have the capable of it not like religiously twisted people.

  • He said the Iraq War is winding down. But after he became President. He got some videotaped messages from Osama Bin Laden, shortly after he became President. Where he condemned his Presidency, and talked bad about him.

And since then, Obama changed his attitude about Afganistan. And have been hard on them eversince.

  • "Obama: I do not bring solutions to this war." isn't that just hilarious? hay, am i the only one that remembers when he first started running he promised to help end this war? although most of us knew it was impossible to just end it, once he's in the white house he can tell us how many of promises he's going break.

  • and my comment about how he didn't bring dignity &/or respect to us just shows that i'm not the only immature ignorant person in this comment section considering nobody thought about what i said & outright disagreed with me, rated me down. i can see alot of thumbs down on this comment to..

  • I wouldn't care if we had a Chinese President.( As long as he's a Democrat) You digg?. Cause Human Rights and Dignity is what is going to get the Peace back. But when you use repression, like Bush and his Republicans be using, it gets worser.

  • Tell me in which Obama had done something that deserves awful comment from you.

  • His speeches aren't really 'good'. He just says what has to be said. There's not much rhetoric like that of Hitler's.

  • lol hilter. isnt it only his arm raise?

  • you know, i can't wait to get that shirt with obama's face that says "Hitler wrote great speeches to."

  • Republicans are fooling themseves with Sarah Palin. The next USA President with this kind of charisma is not born yet.

  • what? i can't wait for the day where we get a female president & everybody hates her. & then we think back to "oh! we got a black president! so much better."

  • ha.....uffff........i am getting sleep..dude's hear u latter.

  • About the only thing this guy does is make speeches. As for bringing back respectablity no. The French Pres has called him naive, he has pissed off the Brits in so many ways, Russia tested a missle while he was in Oslo(it was seen all over the country) Poland feels betrayed when he cancelled the missle protection, China walks around like they own us, Iran has NO fear of this guy and Isreal dont no if Obama will support them. But hey, he sounds good when he makes a speech.

  • @Joskemon

as a french speaking person ,i can assure you that Obama is more popular than Sarkozy in France .He mispoke about many european leaders like zapatero and appear to be drunk at a press conference.

  • as i said, the shirt that says "Hitler wrote great speeches to."

  • Great speech Mr. President - I am thankful that America elected this man. I hope the World listens and cooperates with him. There is no perfection in this world but we must strive for what is right.

  • What a difference Obama makes in comparison to the joker we had the last 8 years - our reputation was in the sewer with the Cowboy from Crawford - this man brings Americans back their dignity and respect.

  • HOW? what the HELL did he do to bring dignity & respect?!

  • he wasnt an ignorant stupid american. Cos that is what we (europe) thought the whole of the US of A was all about during your last presidents sitting.

  • wait, so since he's Iranian, the country that was raised to HATE US then he's better then the others that are all for are country? & i don't remember insulting you so why the hell are you calling me an ignorant idiot?

  • Listen, Iran is not raised to hate the US. Thats just a big prejudice. And you obviously didnt understand what I said. I did not call you an ignorant idiot. I said that during the Bush administration, Europe laughed at USA, as a mass. I called Bush an ignorant idiot. But if you didnt get that, then maybe..

  • You said he wasn't an ignorant stupid American. You called Americans idiots. & what did bush do? damn, whether bush did a good job or not Obama isn't necessarily doing a great job either.

  • OK, so naiv. Ask anybody outside th US, how they feel about the word "american", what they associate it with. Trust me, Obama has made that word much more positive. Big parts of the world can now again work together with America, and not feel ashamed about it.

Im sorry about some mispelling, but you can complain about that the day you write swedish on the same level I write in english.

  • umm.. i wasn't going to make fun of your spelling O.o but i don't understand how people think this. wtf did obama do that's so damn good that all the nations don't hate us now??? it's ridiculous. he hasn't done crap. so why are we making it like he's doing the best job ever when he isn't doing anything? just because he's black?

  • you need to not live outside the US to understand how his RHETORIC has changed the mood and climate around war and american imperialism

  • You're still not answering my question.

  • Thank U Obama, U fixed the economy, healthcare & gave us a plan 4 energy independence & in both wars ure doing a great job! Limbaugh doesnt give HIS party permission 2 think & these idiots refuse 2 admit that their party ruined the US over the last 8 years. They also refuse 2 help Obama clean up their mess!

The GOP's a racist, ignorant party with bad ideas thats dying. The same # of white ppl who voted 4 Reagan voted 4 McCain & they lost in a landslide b/c America CHANGED. Learn Spanish!

  • as far as i know, healthcare hasn't change at all. a bill has almost been past, but failed. I am not racist, look up the definition. i find it extremely insulting to be called racist. it's not that he's black, it's that i don't see anything that he's done. & i haven't seen anything change with energy independence either, except that they lied about the numbers, but that's just a rumor. Obama spent more in two months that he was here then bush did in a hole year. & i wanted Palin, so there.

  • @KaguraThWindGypsy I think you are right but wanting Palin is insane and would be a scary proposition. Problem is there isn't much of a choice with these presidential candidates and it's getting old. None of them including Obama accomplish sh*t when they get in office. The opposing party basically tries to undermine the party in office. This country needs someone who can maneuver around this kind of obstacle.

  • @GIOJL I agree... damn, this time around I just wish Donald Trump would run. None of the current candidates seem to be that great.

  • @GIOJL Also, I did say that two years ago. Palin seemed somewhat more creditable then to me.

  • @thachozn1429 I think Obama has definitely faced opposition as President in trying to accomplish what he set out to do, but you must be delusional if you think he's done anything for our economy. I don't expect miracles with the mess he walked into left by the Bush administrations, however, I didn't expect that he would side with the banks and bail them out. That was his first mistake among others. As far as healthcare, he basically made a deal with the ins. companies and sold us out.

  • In a world that lacks moral human fibre, this speech justifies humanity. Not everyone agrees with Obama and his presidency, but for those who do and for those who are genuinely compelled by the optimism portrayed throughout this speech YOU must make the difference. Ignore the racists, the uneducated and uninformed, because they will do nothing but deter any progress. Stand up for yourselves and others, because we are all the same, and deserve a free life.

  • oBAMA IS A FAILURE AS A PRESIDENT !!

We need to cut taxes to keep jobs in America and keep companys from moving away to other countries !!

We need to cut taxes now Mr. President !!

we need jobs and YOU are a failure !!!

worse than jimmy carter even - aweful !! now at 41 % JUST QUIT NOW !!

  • This was a remarkable speech. A future world with an advanced Humanity will look upon this speech as a seminal moment. Brilliant!

  • Here´s the answer to the critics of his award: Peace, yes. But not any peace, only an adecuate peace may be called that. And that would not come for free, nor easy. We all ARE RESPONSIBLE for joining forces towards justice. In our ordinary live we constantly face chances for becoming better persons and thus helping justice come to our society.

There had been recent times in which pursuing greatness was obscured by many. But it was US who had to stand up and follow our own shared destiny.

  • @ yaivaa:

I do not deny what you are saying in any way, however to my knowlodge, nothing has really been done so far, except that he really have stood up and said "this needs to be done!" While this may or may not be a big step forword, is it enough to win the Nobel peace price?

  • Apparently yes, it is not without president, the award given to Al Gore was for his efforts bringing attention to Global Warming effectively saying something really needs to be done about this.

  • Dear Ashadow700,

Humanity has always needed leaders. Nowadays the negative influencing forces are so strong that powerful voices are essential.

I am sure that many people will become less afraid of joining forces with what they really think and believe after listening to Pres. Obama.

    Regards

  • Great Speech as usual, yet also inspiring! Hope this speech contributes in some measure to a more perfect union in the US and around the world.

  • Obama mentioned

    Iran twice or maybe more

    Israel not once

Iran seeking a peaceful nuclear power

    Israel already has nuclear missiles

Iran signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

    Israel never did

Western irony, hypocrisy, and double standards has no boundaries

  • lets hope Obama manages to create a nuclear-free world, no matter how idealistic that may be

  • nuclear weapons yes, not energy. but thats not going to happen

  • great speech Obama!

  • Human nature will never be gone. But as he said our northern star, our morale compass is what will change us. Without it we are lost.

-Let us reach for the world that ought to be, that spark of the divine that still stirs in each of our souls.

  • Be the Change you wish to see in the world. -Gandhi

  • Obama needs to Apologize for what America has been clandestinely involved in for the past 100 years. That said i wish him well by I am deeply skeptical of this good cop bad cop routine America is currently pulling

  • utter bullshit

  • To say that Obama may be the greatest orator of all time may not be an exaggeration.

  • of ALL time... no. Of our time...perhaps. Whats the name of his main speechwriter again?

  • compare obama's poses as he pauses to that of Hitler's in film... Oblama studied Hitlers postures during a speech and learn from his master ...

  • Fucking republicans, god damn.

  • Thank you Obama for delivering this speech in such easily understandable english

  • Rush Limbaugh is jealous of this man!!!

  • he's the greatest speaker on earth..!!!

I was anti war before, now I believe war is good for peace... he's phenomenal..!!!

    who's agree with me...???!!!

  • @msblossom77 war is not good enough for peace. War doesn't bring peace, he said it himself. It merely creates a unstable peace, that when slightly tapped will burst will all of the fury of previous wars. He was right on many things, but war is not moral

  • Iam being sarcastic honey.... :)...!!!

  • Hey lennon, you say war does not bring peace, well it sure was not as hectic after hitler died. After the bomb was dropped on Japan the war ended. Nevell Chamberlain thought that he could have 'peace in our time' but Hitler made him look like a fool. Being a pacifist also does not bring peace. You know the saying ; evil thrives when good men do nothing.

  • @joskemom who is to say we are not the evil ones? What we call evil can be good to some others, and what we consider good can be evil to others. I'm not a pacifist, but I'm not hiding behind the false words of just war. No war is just, a motive to wage war doesn't make the act of killing someone just. death- or murder- is never just. the world was just as bad after hitler was defeated; and what about all those innocents in Japan that died?

  • If you're honestly suggesting the UK perpetrated more evil during WWII than Germany, or that China perpetrated more evil during WWII than Japan, you're absolutely fucking crazy.

Yes, the world was MUCH better after Hitler was defeated. All those innocents in Japan that died? How about all those innocents in CHINA that were raped, beaten, flayed, decapitated, bayoneted, buried alive, crucified, and otherwise SLAUGHTERED by those "innocent" Japanese?

Sorry, but evil is not relative.

  • @VictimOfBoredom how did I suggest that? I never mentioned the UK. Okay I forgot about those violent attacks, not that I think it was right. I was talking about the Japanese that had nothing to do with the Japanese army. So you would consider yourself a shameless man that also raped African Americans and Native Americans, right? Because that is what you're saying. The world remained divided after world war 2, even though fascism was defeated; it was the rise of the only empire left.

  • You invoked WWII, and you said "we". We were fighting in alliance with the UK, so if there's some disconnect between the US and UK's claims to wartime legitimacy, you're going to have to elucidate on that.

Regarding Hiroshima and Nagaski, I'll send you a PM, due to the text limit here.

  • @VictimOfBoredom Fine, I'll continue to use "we" I'm also an American citizen, I carry the mistakes of past presidents. Can you say that it was right to use the nuclear bomb for the sake of ending the war? Kill those innocent Japanese people that had nothing to do with the war?

  • But evil is not measurable too...you speak in terms of "more victims = more evil"when in fact, they all are the same evil, japanese, chinese, german, AMERICAN, ENGLISH... I mean, if we understand that all the countries in the WW2 conflict reduced themselves into an evil state of mind, then we will understand that things have to change in the way we see and understand conflicts between nations.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey lennon, your question 'who is to say we are not the evil ones?' show alot of ignorance. If someone has to explain to you the difference between good and evil that someone wont be me. What are you a 12year old girl. Ofcourse war is brutal and ugly but if one is compelled to defend themselves or their country to the death then those who dont have the stomach maybe the first to be slaughtered. In the land of unicorns their are no wars.

  • Comment removed

  • #joskemom There is a difference between being a pacifist and not doing anything. Would you honestly state that Gandhi and Dr. King's preaching nonviolence and passive resistance had no effect? Good men doing nothing is when good men stay silent or choose not to get involved. Good men doing nothing is a man seeing a fight and waking by, a woman getting mugged and turning around and waking away, feeling passionately about THIS issue and saying nothing.

  • Hey dashar, spare me the grade school lecture. Everyone knows what the saying means.

  • LOL what is Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith doin there? Hilarious, so didnt expect to see them, cute little Jaden is sleeping. lol

  • Will is gonna lead the nobel concert on friday, thats why.

  • Americas Angel will take out The Demons Messiah soon Palin 2012.....

  • Pope John Paul II never used any military or violence. But also he never won a nobel prize

  • Violence and sexual abuse against children probably ruled him out.

  • People love a good speech. But...

  • Brilliant...never before have I been more proud of an American..thank you Sir!!!

  • WOW!!! Brilliant in its content, amazingly delivered speech. I questioned whether or not he's worthy of the award so early but I stand convinced. He makes you proud to be an American.

  • Yes a good speech and only Obama can make such a speech. However the bad guys around the world will make sure such peace is never reached by man.

Obama can't bring peace but his speeches are good.

  • lol Will Smith @ 3:54

  • Yea, that was unexpected.

  • got that right.

  • You're right, it is ridiculous that people would continue to lose jobs during the worst recession in 70 years.

What exactly should he have done?

  • The hulk!

  • Poor cynical people always trashing great human's like Mr. Obama, is it so hard to see a pure person that you feel like such shit about yourself you need to make hateful and angry remarks 100% And to the U.S. Haters....he could not really be more right about America underwriting the security of this planet. And also great point that proliferation of modern tech allowing SMALL men to creat massive murder. Anyone who cannot accept this man's integrity is sad and blind. Small men indeed all of you

  • one speech at a time when all he could possibly do is talk about good. he focuses on every country accepting US enforcement and then just quote MLK and Ghandi and low and behold the sheep in america forget all the lies since he took office and get back on the teet.

You miss the point and get swamped in silky speech because you want to believe.

  • Med; While I agree that the speech was suspiciously silent on US violations of UN declarations and that it may appear that his administration is guilty of the same faults of previous ones, sadly, I find it hard to imagine that a President can do more in such a short time considering the fickle nature of the American electorate. To become President and to enact any lasting change is to walk a precarious tight-rope. Have realistic expectations and be patient. Baby steps.

  • If he really is the true harbinger of change and not war then why has he increased and lengthened the war effort in iraq/afgan when in his election campaign he promised to IMMEDIATELY end the wars and start pulling troops out?

This is only ONE of his promises that he has flat broken...yet he is still the new MLK/JFK.

I wish I could get a Nobel Peace Prize for saying Im going to do things. If that was the case, every damn democratically elected officials campaign on the planet would get one

  • He never said he wanted to pull out of Afgan...only Iraq....He only stated that we were fighting 2 wars, and that Iraq was a mistake

  • did he pull out of iraq? or did he change his mind from immediate to 16months and now to 23months?

did he say he would increase the troops by 70,000 in afganistan? (30k+40k)

this is one area..there are many more polocy decisions.

  • In terms of Iraq, I totally agree with you. But in terms of Afganistan, he only stated that he wanted to win the war and then get out. They only reason I cut Obama slack on Afganistan, is because the US dropped the ball on it while invading Iraq. If Bush had kept his focus on Afganistan, we would prob. be out of there or winding it down. As for Iraq, I cut him NO slack.....

  • To a degree you are right.

However, a lot of people forget that the Taliban offered to hand over Bin Laden to a 3rd party country if the US could prove his links to 9/11 and IF theywould also stop the bombing. The US denied.

The Taliban then again offered Bin Laden to the US via a 3rd party country WITHOUT proof, IF the US stopped the bombings. The US denied.

Bush had chances to get Bin Laden and didnt. Why?

  • For the obvious reason that Al Qaeda is bigger than one man. Kill him, capture him, nothing changes. It would only be a feel-good, hollow victory. As Obama said in this speech: if people remain uneducated, poor, and helpless (Afghanistan in spades) and susceptible to a malleable philosophy (Islamic Jihad), a lasting peace will be elusive. In a nuclear age, that is incompatible with civilization. I deplore HOW Bush brought us to war, but there are some good reasons WHY.

  • But still, the US government are now saying, for their own reasons, that Iran are training extremists.

So to agree with you that killing one or a few men in Afganistan will kill the threat, why are they there? There are people all over the world foreign and domestic...why occupy a country based on a relative handful of extremists they cant find?

They cant possibly hope to kill every activist..if it gets too hot for the extremists, they will move/leave.

    Its a completely futile exericise.

  • great speech, may hope overcome it all ;D

  • I can't believe he accepted Chinese bribes not to mention China's horrendous human rights violations, and just focus on tiny states in Africa.

  • thx for uploading! great speech..

  • All i read here is "baa baa"

Seems ironic that I am the one counting sheep, yet I am awake and the sheep are asleep :P

  • Holy shit, truly remarcable speech.

  • Remarkable! The potential for greatness is irrefutable. He makes me proud to be an American.

  • "isness" vs. "oughtness" he hits on dr. kings hope for the world perfectly. Social Evolution is always a journey not a destination.

  • Many - probably half - of American's have NO CLUE how lucky they are to have this man running the show for them after the complete DISASTER that was the Bush administration.

And the sad part is these Americans (mainly the Republicans) will tear off their nose to spite their face, just because they are more interested in their party than in their Country.

  • wonderful speech, mr. president!

  • That was amazing!! Great Job Mr. President

  • I wish more Americans realized what an exceptional and great man their president is.

  • @Ichgewinne123123

I have to agree, this man is exceptional.

  • am arab and i love Obama.God bless him. thanks for the video
