exorcist definitely, but now the whole "evil kid killing everybody" formula is getting sort of old. seriously how hard is it to uppercut a little girl?
btw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is actually the very first slasher flick classic. Not Halloween. TCM. Infact, Leatherface inspired Mike Myers and Jason Voorhees as the very first hulking faceless murderer. My question to you is this, have you seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And btw, Im not mad at you or anything.
@Cerenok9 Huh? Why should I have to mention her? I just talked about Nightmare on Elm Street in general. There was no need for me to mention her name. It's no big deal.
@FilmReviewGuy789 Well most of them where very good/well made movies. I didn't like the Omen, its probably the lamest movie on the entire list. You didn't like Dawn of the Dead? That movie is totally good!
@miamimagicians Yes its corny, and dumb, and VERY overrated! Its just the time it came out, there wasn't that much like it. Like WTF was even the purpose of giving the kid telepathic powers to communicate with the black guy?
JERRY OCONNEL!!! i didnt know he was in scream 2!!! i saw the picture and saw his face and thought "wow, that face looks soooo fermiliar" then i looked at the names below and saw his name!!!
Childs play is in my top 10. The scene where Chucky climbs through his voodoo teachers window is one of the scariest scenes ever! Freddy Krueger is the horror legend. Great top 10!
@TheTupacRap Why the hell do you think he's crazy? l think you are more crazy saying that ''Halloween'' is terrible, do you know that ''Halloween'' is one of the greatest independent films of all time, just because it wasnt too much blood and killing doesnt make it bad. ''Friday the 13th'' is a great movie, but it's not legendary or the best Horror movie of all time.
Mine Are (In No Order) 1. The Exorcist 2. The Omen 3. Paranormal Activity (t wasn't scary but I still kind of enjoyed it) 4. Blair Witch Project 5. The Shinning 6. Nightmare On Elm Street (The First One) 7. Night Of The Living Dead 8. Dawn Of The Dead 9. Friday The 13th ( The First One) 10. Halloween (First One) 11. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I can't really think of any more off the top of my head P.S Spinnernet, you have a GREAT taste in horror movies :D
the movies sound amazing all 13 of them...............funny how all these movies were RE-MADE with THE SAME NAME THIS DECADE........pathetic...........about 10 if not more of ur list were re-made probably with the same name......
i wish i lived in the 90s spinnernet :( ! :P......
i was so confused during 1408, but the bes part was at the end when he started playing the tape recorder. it was just so creepy, and im glad it ended there.
I think you are confused... my point was to highlight the fact that you think the "scariest" horror film is "VERY" subjective, where as the best horror film is for some reason not... how can one be more subjective than the other? they are both ranking systems, and keeping in mind the genre is horror, i feel the two should have a strong correlation. Philosophically speaking, if the film is supposed to scare you, i.e. Horror, shouldnt the scariest be considered the best? Just saying, perception
Disagree, everything is subjective. Your opinion is that the BEST isnt subjective, because i guess you believe its general consent. By this measure you could say that pop music is the best music in the world because its the most listened to and has sold most records, or that alt-country is the best because its what roughly 75% of what is played over US airwaves (im a broadcasting major, this is a sad truth i was forced to face) Point being, everything is subjective, and rarely is their a best
Its an ok list, alot of classics. My problem with it is is that i dont feel many of these are actually scary, so much as "thrilling" which in my opinion is more of an entertaining factor rather than a frightening factor. THIS IS A MUST! watch a spanish horror film called
'[rec]" scariest movie i have ever seen, it was remade in america as quarantine which sucked hard. Also, The Thing deserves a spot on this list man, classic carpenter/russell
someone sent me a comment or something because i guess they thought i was looking for a debate? dont know
anyways, i LOVE the scream series, just never saw them as scary, they are in a sense supposed to be satire on a standard slasher, almost a parody. Still, it does fall under horror and it is a good movie, just not scary. beats me on what i would put on BEST as opposed to SCARIEST... thats almost a philosophical decision to make. or perceptive. but whatever. like i said, not a bad list
Woot, Jackie Earle is officially Freddy Kruger in the Texas Elm Street Massacre flick (I'm calling the Elm remake that because platinum dunes are remaking it...).
Good list. My Top 10 is: 10-Cat People 9-Carnival of Souls 8-Kill Baby, Kill! 7-Repulsion 6-Psycho 5-A Tale of Two Sisters 4-Hour of the Wolf 3-The Exorcist 2-The Shining 1-Suspiria
I think your list is cool but mine is this: Hell-Raiser 2 Grim Reaper *Very scary almost banned from America but he payed the government for it to stay in America* Saw 2 Seed of Chucky *heard there is a new one finally called The Return of Chucky* Freddy vs Jason Puppet master Demonic toys K-9 Megasnake Python
evil dead part 2 has better special effects, part 1 was made on a much lower budget. btw,. how can ED1 or 2 be at #13/12??? that should be much higher up
i have to get this off my chest i really did not think excorsist was scary it was a good one but idk if that should be #1, but hey everybody has their own opinion
One thing i have to say is that the era of scary movies was in its prime during the 60's and 70's. Much like the attitude era was the prime of the wwe/f (in my opinion)
Good list, nice to see you're a Freddy fan. And i don't like that you missed out the Shining and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre but Freddy is my favourite. Then again you said scary not best so that's okay.
Good movies, but I love Stephen King and John Carpenter as well as Wes Craven. IT and The Thing are my favorites but I will not watch The Exorcist by myself, it truely scares the hell out of me!
Good, intelligent comments. I've seen most of them and agree with your listing. Very difficult to include all the good films, but I enjoyed your reviewing. Well done!
My top horror movie is the one about this really dumb (but hot) chick from Alaska who because of the President's age someday becomes president and censors...well...everything.
You got really good taste in horror movies!! Keep making those cool WWE videos Spinnernet. Also can you talk alittle about TNA in some of your videos if you can?
Great Video. I would have included. Don't look now, The Wicker Man (original obviously), Texas Chainsaw Massacre and theres a few others i can't think of right now, but good list.
Last night in there was a programme called "100 Greatest Horror Movies" (voted by the public) & "The Shining" got number 1. "HEEEEERRRRRRESSSSS JOOOOHHHNNNNNYYYYY"
Jason was not in the original 13th and he does not run.. But I did like the Halloween remake not as much as the original, Not close. But usually don't care for horror remakes although, I really like the remakes of The haunting and 13 ghosts.
You know every movie you meantioned I just fricken love!. Great taste, We have to talk horror sometimes.. As for other movies. It's hard because the genre has so many great movies but here are some of my other favs besides your list. Hellraiser!. Devil's Rejects, Nightbreed, Cradle of fear, I could go on forever :). By the way what is your thought of Friday the 13 being remade?. Heard nightmare on elm street was being remade as well. I saw footage of the friday remake and saw Jason running in it
they should NEVER remake classic horror movies. i hate when they do that. it's like they can't come up with new material, so they re-make the old stuff.
Ok, I have got to say that your list while awesome, could have lost the "Evil Dead" movies. While bloody, and gory, it had me laughing more than being scared. I mean me, if I had to pick a top 5, they would be:
5."28 Days Later", for bringing back the zombie genre.
4."Friday The 13th", for having an amazing ending.
3."Halloween" (1978), for just being amazing.
2."Nightmare On Elm Street", cause it was such an awesome concept.
It's a good list, but no Cronenberg? What about Romero's 'Martin', and no 'Wickerman'!? Then we have 'Near Dark', 'The House By The Cemetery', 'Audition', 'Sleepaway Camp', Carpenter's 'The Thing', 'Hellraiser', 'The Changeling' and for a great comedy-horror 'Fright Night'. Too many more to mention, I don't want to seem down on your list lol, it's good, but I thought that some cronenberg should have made the list above the 'Scream' movies.
Really great list, I wonder what you think of the classic zombie/comedy/horror film, Return of the Living Dead from the early 80s.
Anyway there's definitely a bunch of movies I would've included, and expect a "Best Non-American Horror Movies" video from me later this week (probably on Halloween day!).
exorcist definitely, but now the whole "evil kid killing everybody" formula is getting sort of old. seriously how hard is it to uppercut a little girl?

Great video spinnernet. I like how you did the top 13, 13 being the supersticious(spelling) number. great little idea there. 5/5

no saw? granted the recent ones were mainly thrillers but the first one i found to be quite horrifying with a very big twist from out of no where.

Shriekspear 3 years ago
You know every movie you meantioned I just fricken love!. Great taste, We have to talk horror sometimes.. As for other movies. It's hard because the genre has so many great movies but here are some of my other favs besides your list. Hellraiser!. Devil's Rejects, Nightbreed, Cradle of fear, I could go on forever :). By the way what is your thought of Friday the 13 being remade?. Heard nightmare on elm street was being remade as well. I saw footage of the friday remake and saw Jason running in it
Shriekspear 3 years ago
they should NEVER remake classic horror movies. i hate when they do that. it's like they can't come up with new material, so they re-make the old stuff.

Damn i did skim through my bad lol Day of the Dead is my favorite of Romeros films because it has the most gore and its just damn awesome
WrestlingsSavior 3 years ago
Ok, I have got to say that your list while awesome, could have lost the "Evil Dead" movies. While bloody, and gory, it had me laughing more than being scared. I mean me, if I had to pick a top 5, they would be:
5."28 Days Later", for bringing back the zombie genre.
4."Friday The 13th", for having an amazing ending.
3."Halloween" (1978), for just being amazing.
2."Nightmare On Elm Street", cause it was such an awesome concept.
1."Audition", for legitimately creeping me out.

Audition is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME great pacing but a little slow for some people but the ending really pays off
hurricanekicka 3 years ago
that's a very good list. you can lose your meal by watching Audition.

JarrodDrover123 3 years ago
lol, believe it or not. that's my favorite movie of all-time period, not just horror.
spinnernet1 3 years ago
It's a good list, but no Cronenberg? What about Romero's 'Martin', and no 'Wickerman'!? Then we have 'Near Dark', 'The House By The Cemetery', 'Audition', 'Sleepaway Camp', Carpenter's 'The Thing', 'Hellraiser', 'The Changeling' and for a great comedy-horror 'Fright Night'. Too many more to mention, I don't want to seem down on your list lol, it's good, but I thought that some cronenberg should have made the list above the 'Scream' movies.
Blackburn35 3 years ago
Really great list, I wonder what you think of the classic zombie/comedy/horror film, Return of the Living Dead from the early 80s.
Anyway there's definitely a bunch of movies I would've included, and expect a "Best Non-American Horror Movies" video from me later this week (probably on Halloween day!).
RantNRavinFection 3 years ago
i pretty much agree with your list, although one series I like a lot are "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movies, and "Children Of The Corn".
Rob Zombies flicks are pretty twisted as well, House of 100 corpses and Devils Rejects
CoffeeNinjaB8 3 years ago 2
Devils Rejects is great, i really like that movie.
