  • exorcist definitely, but now the whole "evil kid killing everybody" formula is getting sort of old. seriously how hard is it to uppercut a little girl?

  • btw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is actually the very first slasher flick classic. Not Halloween. TCM. Infact, Leatherface inspired Mike Myers and Jason Voorhees as the very first hulking faceless murderer. My question to you is this, have you seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And btw, Im not mad at you or anything.

  • I expected "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"

  • i dont like the way you dont ever mention heather langenkamp as nancy in your videos

  • @Cerenok9 Huh? Why should I have to mention her? I just talked about Nightmare on Elm Street in general. There was no need for me to mention her name. It's no big deal.

  • Great movies...

  • actually scream was amde to kill the slasher drama but instead it started it again

  • Evil Dead 1 is the scariest movie ever made! Its the scariest movie on the list, the Omen sucked. I hate that movie, it sucks so bad.

  • Child's Play !

  • @FilmReviewGuy789 Well most of them where very good/well made movies. I didn't like the Omen, its probably the lamest movie on the entire list. You didn't like Dawn of the Dead? That movie is totally good!

  • Carrie was a great movie and very sad!

  • @miamimagicians yeah, it was.

  • The scariest movie on that entire list is Evil Dead1.

  • no house on the left? I thought that'd be #1 its freaking terrifying

  • Oh The Shining is one of the worst movies ever created.

  • @KidApp I agree 100% its very corny!

  • @miamimagicians Yes its corny, and dumb, and VERY overrated! Its just the time it came out, there wasn't that much like it. Like WTF was even the purpose of giving the kid telepathic powers to communicate with the black guy?

  • Great list, but I would have fit Christine in that #13 tie, make it a 3 way tie.

  • Cloverfield

  • JERRY OCONNEL!!! i didnt know he was in scream 2!!! i saw the picture and saw his face and thought "wow, that face looks soooo fermiliar" then i looked at the names below and saw his name!!!

  • The Italians were doing slasher movies a decade before Halloween...IE: Lucio Fulci's "Don't Torture the Duckling."

  • Childs play is in my top 10. The scene where Chucky climbs through his voodoo teachers window is one of the scariest scenes ever! Freddy Krueger is the horror legend. Great top 10!

  • my favorite has always been the original a nightmare on elm street

but if you could choose the second best out of the series, what would it be?

  • @writerboy111 my opinion probably number 2 or 3 because in number 4 freddy was just different in some way i cant explain

  • @TheTupacRap Why the hell do you think he's crazy? l think you are more crazy saying that ''Halloween'' is terrible, do you know that ''Halloween'' is one of the greatest independent films of all time, just because it wasnt too much blood and killing doesnt make it bad. ''Friday the 13th'' is a great movie, but it's not legendary or the best Horror movie of all time.

  • Mine Are (In No Order) 1. The Exorcist 2. The Omen 3. Paranormal Activity (t wasn't scary but I still kind of enjoyed it) 4. Blair Witch Project 5. The Shinning 6. Nightmare On Elm Street (The First One) 7. Night Of The Living Dead 8. Dawn Of The Dead 9. Friday The 13th ( The First One) 10. Halloween (First One) 11. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I can't really think of any more off the top of my head P.S Spinnernet, you have a GREAT taste in horror movies :D
  • the movies sound amazing all 13 of them...............funny how all these movies were RE-MADE with THE SAME NAME THIS DECADE........pathetic...........about 10 if not more of ur list were re-made probably with the same name......

    i wish i lived in the 90s spinnernet :( ! :P......

  • What about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Do you like it?

  • i was wondering do you watch any foreign horror flicks or just american horror films

  • American Werewolf of Paris and American Werewolf of London

    - i was scared 3 months

  • i was so confused during 1408, but the bes part was at the end when he started playing the tape recorder. it was just so creepy, and im glad it ended there.

  • 1408 is a good horror movieit was the movie that creaped me out the most and ive seen exorsist ans shining

shawn of the dead is also great but in no way scary

  • i was kinda hoping that the shining came in even as 13 cuz you gotta admit it is a good movie

  • Day of the Dead is aswome, the pace is slow and just crazy. When it starts hitting, it hits like a ton of bricks. "Choke on em"

"Choke on em" Captain Rhoads fucking rules!

  • actually, dude rosemarys baby came out in the 60s,'68

  • yeah, it did. i've been meaning to put an annotation on the vid forever, i'm just too lazy, lol.

  • My favorite horror movie is the Silence of the Lambs which is also one of my favorite films of all time

  • yeah, that's an absolute classic.

  • You should do more movie related videos often, your really awesome at talking about films, please do more of these!

  • i'll think about it Jim.

  • @spinnernet1 hey spin are you gonna see this remake of nightmare on elm st if you do do a video of what you though of it

  • did he meen ple vomiting and pasing out i IN the movie? or ple IRL watching it....

  • people who watched the movie in the theatres were passing out and vomiting. one lady even had a miscarriage.

  • Th Exorcist ofc :)

  • and On the original friday the 13th the women who acts as jasons mother it says on the DVD Interview she played in the film to get a sports car..

if no one agrees if you have the DVD Go on Extras and BTW good vid Spinner i like most films.

  • yeah, i know the story. Betsy Palmer actually thought that the movie was trash.

  • that's an awesome list wcwretro2. thanks for sharing.

  • Lol which Evil dead was it with that old women singing in the basement? it was freaky lol.

  • Halloween best slasher film ever my favorite killer Michael Myers

  • I think you are confused... my point was to highlight the fact that you think the "scariest" horror film is "VERY" subjective, where as the best horror film is for some reason not... how can one be more subjective than the other? they are both ranking systems, and keeping in mind the genre is horror, i feel the two should have a strong correlation. Philosophically speaking, if the film is supposed to scare you, i.e. Horror, shouldnt the scariest be considered the best? Just saying, perception

  • BRAINDEAD ! Goriest Movie Of All Time.

  • Disagree, everything is subjective. Your opinion is that the BEST isnt subjective, because i guess you believe its general consent. By this measure you could say that pop music is the best music in the world because its the most listened to and has sold most records, or that alt-country is the best because its what roughly 75% of what is played over US airwaves (im a broadcasting major, this is a sad truth i was forced to face) Point being, everything is subjective, and rarely is their a best

  • orphan didnt ocme out yet how u kno its sooo good....im not a horror movie fan but my fav. character is Michael Myers/Halloween

  • simon says and the hills have eyes 1&2 are my fav horror movies the list is awesome

  • what about wolfman and frankenstein, to old school?

  • the strangers and when a stranger calls are two of the worst horror movies ever

  • Holloween ( 1, 2, & 4 ) are the best Holloween parttss

    especially 4 - i love the bestt!

Michael Myers is the scariest mann in a horror moviee

  • THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH Michael Myers is THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!

  • I totally agree with you on the first place! The exorcist is one of the best horror movies of all time!

  • Its an ok list, alot of classics. My problem with it is is that i dont feel many of these are actually scary, so much as "thrilling" which in my opinion is more of an entertaining factor rather than a frightening factor. THIS IS A MUST! watch a spanish horror film called

'[rec]" scariest movie i have ever seen, it was remade in america as quarantine which sucked hard. Also, The Thing deserves a spot on this list man, classic carpenter/russell

  • I understand what your saying. For eg., the Scream movies some people think of those as more suspense than horror.

  • someone sent me a comment or something because i guess they thought i was looking for a debate? dont know

anyways, i LOVE the scream series, just never saw them as scary, they are in a sense supposed to be satire on a standard slasher, almost a parody. Still, it does fall under horror and it is a good movie, just not scary. beats me on what i would put on BEST as opposed to SCARIEST... thats almost a philosophical decision to make. or perceptive. but whatever. like i said, not a bad list

  • only nightmare on elm street i thought sucked was part 5 the worst in the series

  • i personaly think friday the 13th was better than halloween (especaly part 5)

  • the excorist a terrible movie shows wat you know about horror movies

  • i love horror movies but i hate the jeepers creepers series not that scary or good in my opinion great vid

  • 5.the omen

    4.silence of the lambs (1991)

    3.Seven

2.Tamara( not a well known movie but really scary)

    1.the exorcist

  • yea Tamara is not well known. i love that movie!

  • Son of a bitch, that's Jackie Earle Haley,not Jackie Earle -.-

  • Woot, Jackie Earle is officially Freddy Kruger in the Texas Elm Street Massacre flick (I'm calling the Elm remake that because platinum dunes are remaking it...).

Also, will you see Rob Zombie's H2?

  • Texas Elm street?

    HOw about "Texas the 13th"?.......

    its the Same ass movie!!!!

only with a guy with a hockey mask!

  • I agree with that, too. That, and it should've been another sequel. It felt like the same fucking thing.

  • I actually seen all the horrors mentioned scream is just realstic and COULD happen

  • 1 a nightmare on elm street

    2 halloween

    3 the texas chainsaw massacre

    4 friday the 13th

    5 scream

  • thanks for sharing your list.

  • top 3

    3. The Haunting In Connecticut

    2. Saw 5

    1. The Exorcist

I will never see The Exorcist again.. it scared the frickin' shit out of me, but it was a good movie, I have to say that.

  • lol, i wish i was able to see it when it first came out in 1973. people were vomiting and passing out in the movie theatres.

  • nice list except for rosemary's baby which i found boring rather than scary.

  • Scream is the best movie :)

  • My top 5:

    5. Suspiria

    4. Black Christmas (1974)

    3. My Bloody Valentine (1981)

    2. Friday the 13th (1980)

    1. Sleepaway Camp

  • Good list. My Top 10 is: 10-Cat People 9-Carnival of Souls 8-Kill Baby, Kill! 7-Repulsion 6-Psycho 5-A Tale of Two Sisters 4-Hour of the Wolf 3-The Exorcist 2-The Shining 1-Suspiria
  • thanks for sharing. there's a couple of movies on that list that i'll have to check out.

  • good list:D

  • Those are old movies!

  • SAW,..was hoping saw wud b there....

  • I think your list is cool but mine is this: Hell-Raiser 2 Grim Reaper *Very scary almost banned from America but he payed the government for it to stay in America* Saw 2 Seed of Chucky *heard there is a new one finally called The Return of Chucky* Freddy vs Jason Puppet master Demonic toys K-9 Megasnake Python
  • evil dead part 2 has better special effects, part 1 was made on a much lower budget. btw,. how can ED1 or 2 be at #13/12??? that should be much higher up

  • wonder what the nightmare on elm street remake is gonna be like, also rob zombies halloween 2. those are both coming out in the next 1-2 years

  • So I bought Carrie baised on this vid

an it was a great movie

but when they talk at most parst of the movie the voice dont sync up with the words, is that susposed to happen or do I have a bad copy???

  • it's a bad copy. maybe you can exchange it. not sure.

  • Great video. You should do this once a year. Like a best horror movies of the year video

  • I would have probably lowered Elm Street and put Texas in there, as well as perhaps Jaws or Alien. Other then that, fantastic list.

  • to me jaws is more of a thriller than horror, come on its just a big fish!

  • By that standard, you could say of Friday the 13th "Come on its just some chick!"

  • well that depends if u are looking at jason or his mom, but either way a human vs a fish,. which one is more scary? come on man,. its a fish!!!!!

  • Sorry forgot to mention,. since we are humans we can relate to humans better than to animals. so there is a connection there.

  • i have to get this off my chest i really did not think excorsist was scary it was a good one but idk if that should be #1, but hey everybody has their own opinion

  • My Top Five

    1.The Exorcist

    2.Psycho

    3.Friday The 13th

    4.Jaws

    5.Wait Until Dark

  • wait until dark is a good one. some might not consider it horror, but it had it's scary moments.

  • A NightMare On Elm Street!

  • One thing i have to say is that the era of scary movies was in its prime during the 60's and 70's. Much like the attitude era was the prime of the wwe/f (in my opinion)

  • Very nice choices.

However, I would take Scream 2 right out of there, and put The Shining in; classic Kubrick.

  • What r ur favourite movies?

  • Good list, nice to see you're a Freddy fan. And i don't like that you missed out the Shining and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre but Freddy is my favourite. Then again you said scary not best so that's okay.

  • Good movies, but I love Stephen King and John Carpenter as well as Wes Craven. IT and The Thing are my favorites but I will not watch The Exorcist by myself, it truely scares the hell out of me!

  • lol about the Exorcist. i wish that i was alive when it first came out, 'cuz back then movies were scarier.

there were reports of people fainting and vomiting during the movie in 1973-'74.

  • A Clockwork Orange was nominated for best picture in 1972.

Many people describe this as a Horror film. Especially in Britain, where it caused huge controversy, copycat crimes and subsequently a long ban.

  • dude, good vid

But for fucks sake put a 'contains spolilers' warning in the title.

You have just ruined Psycho for anyone who hasn't seen it. Thats criminal.

    :(

  • lol, i'm gonna put it now.

  • chucky well CHILDS PLAY as its known as.... in the first 3 films....

    bride of chucky

    AM ALL RUBBER BABY!

  • great list..you like a lot of the same ones i do,,right on..

  • i also liked silence of the lambs i was only 12 when i saw the exorsistr damn!!!!!!!!! i hated that movie and yeah scary puked twicew

  • all of your movie picks was mines :-) keep up the good work

  • Oh I forgot, I thought John Carpenter's "The Thing" could have been included. One of my favourites which is an absolute classic.

  • Good, intelligent comments. I've seen most of them and agree with your listing. Very difficult to include all the good films, but I enjoyed your reviewing. Well done!

  • Great list spinner. You should also check out the films of Dario Argento if you haven't already. Very intense / scary films.

  • thanks alot. i'll have to check 'em out.

  • great list but i think u should some mov ies in a diffrent order

  • The Exorcist and Nightmare on Elm Street are the scariest movies ever!!!

Halloween and Alien are extremley good as well =D

  • nice list spinnernet. i personally think Halloween is the best horror movie of all time.

  • Great list but I would have switched out the Scream movies for SAW and The Exosism of Emily Rose.

  • Horrible Movies that (Thankfully) were nowhere near this list:

    Freddy v. Jason

Leprechaun series (only good for camp)

Silent Night Deadly Night series (same, camp)

Oh, and that one where the six girls, one presumably a lesbian, go in this cave and get lost. Horrible.

  • House of 1000 corpses was very twisted. Rob Zombie movies are great. The original Jeepers Creepers movie I felt was pretty screwed up.

  • completely agree with no.1.

  • the best scary movie by far is halloween, cos it spawned all the slasher flicks, and michael myers is one sick twisted bastard!

  • i dunno if u call them horror movies but the saw series are my fav

  • My top horror movie is the one about this really dumb (but hot) chick from Alaska who because of the President's age someday becomes president and censors...well...everything.

  • You got really good taste in horror movies!! Keep making those cool WWE videos Spinnernet. Also can you talk alittle about TNA in some of your videos if you can?

  • what about the ring spinnernet i always like that film

  • Why the MBWrestler tag?

  • to see how many of my own subscribers were horror movies fans and who would watch a video like this compared to my wrestling videos.

  • Dawn of the dead was a great movie, easily george rameros best

  • Scream was a great movie, the ending totally surprised me, did you hear they're making a 4th one?

  • Your right exerisot is the best horror movie

  • Great Video. I would have included. Don't look now, The Wicker Man (original obviously), Texas Chainsaw Massacre and theres a few others i can't think of right now, but good list.

  • THE original omen is a must watch

  • Great video spinnernet. I like how you did the top 13, 13 being the supersticious(spelling) number. great little idea there. 5/5

  • no saw? granted the recent ones were mainly thrillers but the first one i found to be quite horrifying with a very big twist from out of no where.

  • lol Clay, i'll try not to anymore.

  • Last night in there was a programme called "100 Greatest Horror Movies" (voted by the public) & "The Shining" got number 1. "HEEEEERRRRRRESSSSS JOOOOHHHNNNNNYYYYY"

  • lmao, that was a great movie.

  • i dnt kno y ppl always mention saw, i never foud that scary...

  • that's more of a suspense film, but most people also consider it horror.

  • Another movie. Bela Lugosi in Dracula :)

  • Jason was not in the original 13th and he does not run.. But I did like the Halloween remake not as much as the original, Not close. But usually don't care for horror remakes although, I really like the remakes of The haunting and 13 ghosts.

  • You know every movie you meantioned I just fricken love!. Great taste, We have to talk horror sometimes.. As for other movies. It's hard because the genre has so many great movies but here are some of my other favs besides your list. Hellraiser!. Devil's Rejects, Nightbreed, Cradle of fear, I could go on forever :). By the way what is your thought of Friday the 13 being remade?. Heard nightmare on elm street was being remade as well. I saw footage of the friday remake and saw Jason running in it

  • they should NEVER remake classic horror movies. i hate when they do that. it's like they can't come up with new material, so they re-make the old stuff.

  • Damn i did skim through my bad lol Day of the Dead is my favorite of Romeros films because it has the most gore and its just damn awesome

  • Ok, I have got to say that your list while awesome, could have lost the "Evil Dead" movies. While bloody, and gory, it had me laughing more than being scared. I mean me, if I had to pick a top 5, they would be:

5."28 Days Later", for bringing back the zombie genre.

4."Friday The 13th", for having an amazing ending.

3."Halloween" (1978), for just being amazing.

2."Nightmare On Elm Street", cause it was such an awesome concept.

1."Audition", for legitimately creeping me out.

  • Audition is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME great pacing but a little slow for some people but the ending really pays off

  • that's a very good list. you can lose your meal by watching Audition.

  • Hell, i came close to puking the first time I watched it.

  • nosferatu is my favorite film of all time. period.

  • Which version?. I love the silent film one and the one in the 70s. Awsome films there!

  • silent one

  • great video once agian m8

  • thanks.

  • The Exorsist is one of my favorite movies! im young so I havent seen alot of these I need to check them out.

  • lol, believe it or not. that's my favorite movie of all-time period, not just horror.

  • It's a good list, but no Cronenberg? What about Romero's 'Martin', and no 'Wickerman'!? Then we have 'Near Dark', 'The House By The Cemetery', 'Audition', 'Sleepaway Camp', Carpenter's 'The Thing', 'Hellraiser', 'The Changeling' and for a great comedy-horror 'Fright Night'. Too many more to mention, I don't want to seem down on your list lol, it's good, but I thought that some cronenberg should have made the list above the 'Scream' movies.

  • Really great list, I wonder what you think of the classic zombie/comedy/horror film, Return of the Living Dead from the early 80s.

Anyway there's definitely a bunch of movies I would've included, and expect a "Best Non-American Horror Movies" video from me later this week (probably on Halloween day!).

  • i pretty much agree with your list, although one series I like a lot are "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" movies, and "Children Of The Corn".

Rob Zombies flicks are pretty twisted as well, House of 100 corpses and Devils Rejects

  • Devils Rejects is great, i really like that movie.
