It's a shame. But let's remember that steroids were not banned from the MLB when A-Rod did it. Not saying that it was right for him to do it, it was certainly wrong, from a moral perspective. But if a league allowed steroids and everyone was doing it, it would be very hard to not do it while everyone is hitting 30 more home runs than you. I blame MLB for failing to crack down on this, and I suspect they allowed it briefly to make the game more exciting until the public found out.
