@KauaiTropic . Universal suffrage means everyone has the right to vote, if some Hawaiians stayed home, then it was their choice not to vote on the future of the territory. Sorry you are so bitter, but it was your own chiefs and kings who sold or traded the land to others. Seems they were more interested in lining their own pockets then worrying about the fate of their subjects who had no rights anyway.

Yes, this hula is beautiful! Hope that political differences won't stop anyone from returning the love that these dancers are giving to their audience worldwide!
Have you lived in Hawaii or known Caucasians who have? I have met three Caucasians who lived in Hawaii as children - all three said they were harrassed - two of them terribly by the "locals". Hawaii has a very bad reputation for racist locals.
It's interesting how the Hawaiian independence psychos want a vote for independence...BUT...they only want the people WHO AGREE WITH THEM to have a vote!!! I say give them what they want...lets do a study, ALL people of native descent, including active duty US military personnel, get to vote on independence. I bet the majority wants to stay with the USA. Why would an American give up their sovereignty to a King or Queen??
Why would we need to vote on independence, the United States is not the sovereign here. They never were, they just militarily occupied the islands and then went ahead with the process of "creating" a 50th state. Pretty sad for a county that prides itself on democracy and freedom.
And what did Japan do to Pearl Harbor? You're so disconnected from reality. You dream of some perfect world that doesn't exist. You know that the Mexican cartels are currently trying to invade your islands - and all the mainland. And they aren't even white. Rethink this before making utter fools of yourselves.
Japan attacked Hawai'i because of US military installations at Pearl Harbor and because of US hostility towards Japan and appropriations of oil rich territories in the Pacific that threatened Japanese interests. Keiki is aware that the world is not perfect. It isn't about dreaming of a perfect world that doesn't exist but trying to bring about a more justified world out of the rubble of injustice.
Because there are Caucasians (you know the little white children your children repeatedly harrass) who might not want Independence. And they have enough sense to know that there are other countries who would want to come in and take over Hawaii - what are you people thinking?
Ahhh yes, slowly the native injuns of that island are dieing off. They thinkin...oooo look how jealous o mighty haole we are. When, it's tha Japs and Samoans runnin yer stupid fucktass out. Bow to my truths. All locals should be banished to one island so the good upstandin decent folks can enjoy the rest.
This woman doesn't even look Hawaiian - she looks more Caucasian than I do!

You can't protect yourselves. Face it.
And these dances are probably mixed race.

There was already a vote for statehood in 1959. The yes vote was 94%. End of story.

Rubble of injustice? Why don't you realize that women are treated worse in other countries? Too hard to stomach?
Japan was also horrible to the Chinese. You need to study. You are just trying to justify racism. It won't work.
