Pointless arguing about good and bad animes its all about taste. Some people like more childish animes some people like mroe serius ones. Some people like a simple story line that remains the same through out a series and some people like dynamic ones that develope with the characters.

I'd consider Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, initial D etc to be, classic i suppose, before it anime really became mainstream. And naruto isnt anime, its a gorram cartoon *shudders*

Cowboy Bebop was produced in 98, so thats pretty new itself. Anime pretty much got big the instant it hit cartoon network. I dont think any of your listed animes are truly classic, except perhaps from a western perspective. This being said, Naruto is an anime, if a childish one. Some anime is directed towards children, you know? Started as a manga; therefore, is an anime.

Naruto IS an anime, and you know it's not that bad, the animation is good. I really don't understand why people get so upset about it, or why people get upset about bleach either. It's like any anime that becomes popular seems to be hated. Don't hate shows just because they got popular okay? it just meens that the human race has a common interest and maybe you should study it and figure out why everyone likes it and then maybe you'll have a bit more respect and understanding for popular anime.

Its because of the hundreds episodes of constant fillers, constant repeated diologe, and constant epic fights that drag on for several more episodes. All of that and that the anime itself seems to drag on more then necessary. Reasonable lengths of an anime would be from 6 episodes (FLCL) to 2 seasons of 24 episodes (Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist, ect) But 215 freaking episodes or more! Come on!

The reson most people hate anime like Naruto is because they become stale and mediocre after the 100th episode. DBZ, Naruto, Bleach. All of these wore themselves out and seemed to lose purpose after a while. It just stops being interesting. Also, they tend to focus on unrealistic dreams such as "saving the earth" instead of focusing on anything that actually captures the mind and heart. Perhaps you are the one who needs to use a bit more insight before you speak. :p

Cowboy Bebop wasn't made selectively for Japan. Its hugely influenced by Western culture and aimed at them as well. The late 90s is when they noticed the growing anime interest in the western world and began to make animes for it. 80s was more when it was under wraps save the few anime movies that shook the animation world and the few childrens TV shows that inspired interest in the 90s. Who doesn't know Astroboy, really? There has been anime influence from the start.

I brought up Astroboy only to prove that anime popularity predates your "so called '06" by a long time. Astroboy was first aired in 1963 and gained popularity globally by the 1980s. 'only in dreams' is far superior. that said, i'm not a faye person. my favorite character would have to be jet, even though jet-centered episodes suck. he's just too cynical, too bad-ass; "She's probably out somewhere screwing up." He just seems so far away from spike, and such a thorn in faye's side.

Good. It goes well with Faye. She did sort of 'fall from a shooting star', because the attempt to use the first inter-space warp or whatever the heck it was went horribly wrong, the research was sort of a 'wish upon a star' thing. And she spends the series trying 'looking for herself' in a harsh, uncaring solar system - a bigger version of the world.
