i heard this song for the first time a couple days ago (btw im 12 and LOVE the Bee Gees)as i happened to look at my foot, and i pictured in my mind my foot as a baby and how small it was and it made me think how much ive grown up and with the song in the background i just balled out crying Love you Bee Gees!!!
Love the sparing use of the electric guitar, at just the right moments, for effect, ( a scream ?). Is that a triangle at the end? These guys and their producer could run a masterclass in how to write effective pop music

I could just listen to them all the time night and day. Their songs have so much meaning and wonderful melodies. I grew up with the bee gees through Jr. High and High school. Too sad that Andy and Maurice left us so soon R.I.P Andy and Maurice. You left a legacy behind that will be heard for generations to come.
and now I found that the world is round and of course it rains every day... I keep singing this (loud) under the shower... 40 years later still full of emotions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why do they keep me here? (an asylum,or prison?), One of their mega hits was about a man ready to be executed (GTGAMTY). Wonderful music with some very strange lyrics for guys so young.
At six I swear I died with meningitus... I can vividly remember waking from a coma not knowing where I was. (oct 1967 isolation ward in Barnet general.) My room overlooked fields and a woods. This song played several times on a small transistor radio. At 49 I have just found it again, I remember the tune but the actual lyrics send shivers through me. Awesome... wow!! all these years. I never knew the words.
Now I have found, that the world is round, and of course it rains everyday. Living tomorrow, where in the world will I be? tomorrow? how far am I able to see? Or am I needed here, now? I have found that the world is round and of course it rains everyday.
I was talking to someone today who didn't realize the Bee Gees had a life before they defected to disco. Thanks for posting! You helped me prove my point.
I always preferred this era of their music.............it has become overshadowed by their disco phase...............which is a pity. It's always that period that gets ridiculed too...............these critics should listen to their late 60's/ early 70's gems.
They just kept bringing out the most amazing singles, everytime a Bee Gees single came out you held your breath, just look at this album of greatest hits. Its hard to believe they were just 19 when the album came out, how many bands could manage such a wonderful collection of songs at such a very young age?
isn't it amazing how Robin's face is the only face that didn't change through the years? I mean, got old of course, but still really similar today and then.
The purer the hearts...the purer the soul...the purer the mind...the purer the body...the lovelier the songs become...the Bee Gees exemplify such beauty as this...papaluvsu2
@TENRECORDS Not only that, but, they all sound different from one another. During that time, and even today, it was not unusual to have your new single sound just like the last one. But, the Gibb Brothers threw that idea out the window...Thank God!
Reminds me a little of Family's "Winter" from 1968..."World" creepy, haunting song until it fluffs out with the harp and bells at the very end. Listen to the bass playing! Marvelous! The julesverne sounding organ and nickdrakian lyrics "because it rains every day/why do they keep me here"...just eerily compelling.
