First Aid - Nose bleed

I once got a heavy nose bleed... When I reached the nearby clinic, the doctor examined me and tried his very best to stop the bleeding. However, even with a Glacier Ice Pack on my nose, I had to be admitted to the hospital as the doctor could not stop it. Plus, blood was flowing rapidly from my nose then. The ice reduced the flow. Upon reaching the hospital, I've already lost shit loads of blood.

Then: If the bleeding is caused by a direct shock on your nose, be carefull about the pain. If it doesn't decrease with time or cold or whatever, you suffer a serious trauma and need to see a doctor.

If the bleeding is secondary to a shock ON THE HEAD, then IMMEDIATELY CALL 911. You're probably suffering an internal bleeding that can lead to a neurological distress.

@juaniesp76 Well, you have to think first about the cause of these bleedings. A blow in the nose that causes the blood vessels to break. This lesion is a direct consequence of the hit. There is noting you can do to prevent the blood vessels of his nose to break off when he suffers a hit. That's one of the problem with boxing, your head will suffer blow after blow and nothing can reduce the impact of such treatment.

See the face of famous boxers, you'll get my point.

i get them all the time.

1. fold tissues and stop the blood from going everywhere (if you hold it too tightly to the nose you may restart it when changing tissues)

2. lean forward (blood tastes nasty)

3. periodically change tissues (avoid oversaturation and see when it stops)

4. go to bathroom and gently blow your nose when it stops (this may seem counterproductive but it lets you breath through that nostril)

5. put a wad of tissues in your pocket in case it restarts later.

Sorry, but never lay your head backwards. The blood can trickle into the lungs and cause more complications than you are ready to deal with. The patient must lean forward, pinching the nose and wait for the blood clots to form. some patients can lose up to half a litre of blood before the nose bleed has stopped, think about where that blood might flow if the patient is leaning backwards.
