  • wow good good good good

  • good marlowe

  • any chance or some more disco style groves..pleaseeeeee...rutger gunnarsson being one of my favorite bass players as much as i copy i just cant get the feel right..any tips ?????

  • Hi Marlowe ! Is it possible to play octaves with this technique on E and D string (instead A and G like in this video)? I can't manage to mute A string in this case...

  • mate you are sick, i really hope you are making the best of your ability :) i also think youve encouraged me to fix up my peavey too

  • SX Basses RuLz ! ! !

  • Love it , and a cool red bass too. My favorite !

    Regards

    Neil Jason

  • I am so honored and wish i could frame this comment:-) By th eway , its my red Fender that is my "Neil Jason signature bass" :-D

  • lol take a picture of it, take it to a camera store have them blow it up for you buy a frame and hang it on your wall.

  • awesome sound, any chance you could show the easiest way to play the slide notes and any exercises useful for learning them.

    cheers

  • Is it necessary to use your thumb in this exercise? I've been playing it without it and it seems fine, or is it just personal preference? I realize that not using my thumb could be to my detriment, but until I'm more proficient at thumbing that E string, it seems that my index finger is more capable of performing that task.

  • Not at all, but i got the musical idea from using the thumbpicking style - sometimes i get an idea when slapping and end up using finger picking instead

  • When you're dealing with good finger economy, using the thumb will allow you to play more advanced riffs with less work.

  • Well, I just randomly started playing it with my my index, middle, and ring fingers because I found that easier.

To each his own I guess. Heh, maybe I should finally figure out what's keeping me from properly double thumping.

  • nice bass sound, very metalic.

what Santa gave you for Christmas? new bass? :)

  • Your t-shirt is very white.

    Do you use bleach?

  • Dear Marlowe,

    You are priceless man!!

    Question:

You commonly octaves and plucking etc. with your left hand Pinky. Where I would tend to use my Ring finger. ... Is your way Better??

    Thanks,

    NickLo CT.

  • pinky in low positions, ring in higher positions. If you dont use all fingers you wont be able to reach that far on the fretboard

  • very helpful once again.

  • new bass? looks new... (:

  • aaaaahahahahahahahah c:)))))) super!

  • Back in the 70's I spent a lot of time developing technique to do that with 2 fingers only (you've got to move really fast). Looks easier doing it with your thumb and fingers but I'm not going to change now. :-)

  • Great !

  • I swear, you are the best reason to come to Youtube. Thanks again.

  • lol youre in brazil and still doing the same as in Denmark :P

  • always good tasty groovy stuff, and isn't that a hotel room ?

  • I request tutorial on River People!!

  • I LOVE this stuff! Awesome as usual..

  • Are you using a Fender Jazz?

  • Read the description.

  • Man nice SX.

I have one question if you Can/wan't response me.

THe question is that i have an 4 strings Gio ibanez GSR 390.

And i saw an SX musicman style, (an imitation, but a good one).

Would you recomend me that i change mi ibanez for that sx?

I hope that i can explain clearly, im not too good in english :P

I looooove all the disco videos that you made :)

  • They make stingrays?

    with their own pre amps?

  • You can get SX StingRay clones, but it's much easier to do that in Europe than the US.

  • Sorry, I dont know those basses (i dont work in a musicstore you know);-)

  • Julian, save up the money and buy the real thing! Music Man is an awesome bass. I went from Ibanez to Stingray... well worth the money!

  • You do know he's on a trip and decided to take an SX with him.

He has a many "the real thing"

    Even a Squier *also good*

  • If you are referring to barchetta's comment then he was replying to another user's question, not to marlowe!=]

  • Ah, Youtube turned it into a regular comment, my bad xD

  • Yeah it does that alot, its caught me a few times bastard thing!

  • yup it did LOL. No I wasn't commenting to Marlowe... he truly has many FINE instruments (we have some of the same)... a man of my own heart!

  • My appologies :P

  • I was referring to his comment of a musicman style imitation. Why buy imitation? Better going with the real MM! Spend the money and get the better instrument because it's truly worth it in the end (if you're serious about playing) and can bring your skills into a higher level. Mine is so easy to play, it's like breathing... absolutely effortless. Definately made a HUGE difference in my progression as a musician. Just some friendly advice from a veteran player. I'm sure he'll choose best for him.

  • Yes, I hope he does.

I do think Jillian should go to a store and try out these basses first, you never know what you'll fall in love with xD.

I went into the GC for a MiM Fender Fretless, and came out with the Squier VMJ fretless because I liked it aesthetically more and it's playability was more pleasing ect. XD

  • I agree. The Squire VMJ fretless is top notch. I've had one for well over a year now but I recommend changing the strings as they are less than ideal and go dead in a hurry.

  • Yeah, I have Rotosound RD66s on it :P

  • buen trabajo excelente bajista jojojojo XD

  • I thought Danish people didn't like to be outside of Denmark like German people don't like to be outside of German?! :P haha.

  • We love it!:-)

  • What you doin in Brazil, my talented friend?

  • Charming the Brazillian ladies with his class Danish tones.

  • yup:)

  • Wow Marlowe. Maybe you should travel more often? Seems that the rain is giving you even more funk. Which I didnt think was humanly possible.

  • You won the game.

  • Nice!!!
