Download free app called iTalk Recorder it's better than iPod's default recording. I thing the paid version of this app let's you upload your file directly to your dropbox account. Oh and yes it does have a good mic but only for talking. When recording at live bands is just awful. I am good with my H1.
Wow. That iPod really did do a nice job recording the audio. No wind noise either. Amazing. But... how well would the ipod do in a setting like... say, recording a band at the local coffee shop? Or recording a lecture in an auditorium? I bought my H1 for drum lessons. Now I'm rethinking that! Or maybe the iPod wouldn't handle louder noises too well.
@ShelterDogs yeah, voice and music is a big difference, I don't think the ipod would be the choice recorder for a band or even a lecture. Though, you can plug mics into the ipod. (with the correct adapter) you could plug any mic into the ipod. But, the other thing is the ipod, battery life and memory... they seem to fill up and go fast.
I like the H1's audio better, and the Ipod would be sweet for recording secret meetings whilst it's hidden in your pocket O_O secret agent knoptop... secretly recording one secret recording at a time. in your pocket. secretly. on record. in your pocket. front pocket.
haha I just used the Tamron AF 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di2 lens this weekend on my T2i for my senior film I love it! I was shooting at night and the 2.8f does pretty well.
@NearPerfectTV hmm.. the mic can achieve pretty good quality for the price, I'm not aware of anything close in quality for the price. You would need to run line out- headphones to be sure your levels are good, and you want to be sure to pick up a wind screen...the mics are super sensitive to wind.
That looks pretty scary to me. I don't think I'll be putting my $1000 camera on that tripod. But that works great as a mic handle! Ipod works great as a mic too! Great idea. Just be careful not to make any movements because it makes weird noises.
That DSLR DIY PVC Stabilizer Rig Review video (damn, thats a mouth full to say out loud) that I sent you was shot using one of those mini tripods and my 60D. I kept getting frustrated because it was constantly falling over. It was such a pain in the butt to finally get it stabilized on my desk and one of those would be great!
Can I use ZOOM H1 as a microphone just like the Blue Snowball when I connect it to my PC via a mini USB to USB port cable? Considering to get it as it has the recording function :)
@Knoptop If you're using linux, it will mount as an Drive, and you can recover that way the voice memo. I think that iTunes allows this, but i'm not sure.
The iPod in your shirt had some good sound.

Would you use the Zoom H1 on a boom for a feature film? Or is there a better option for cheap?

You can use iFunbox to get any file you want off of your iPhone or iPod Touch or iPad.

Could you make an video on how to make a cheap ipod touch 180 degree spinning stand?

The audio for the H1 is better. It's more clear. The only thing I think that makes the iPod even an option is convenience.

You used a T2i to show the little tripod, right? Do you think it would be sturdy enough for a 60D? It's a little bigger than the T2i.
