OMG! I've been watching all of your videos literally ALL day for the past 3 days! You are so inspiring! I am transitioning right now, but I really just want to chop it off. This video in particular really hit home because I am a little worried about how my boyfriend will react. But after watching this video, I really don't care what he thinks. If he leaves, that just shows the kind of person he is, and I wouldn't want to be with a materialistic guy like that anyways.

So I big chopped a week ago. And I feel so beautiful and people stop me and tell me I'm beautiful, but even if they didn't it wouldn't matter to me. ive been natural for 7 years and because my family(very polished business professions...) is so critical.(they are HARSH with me), i keep it braided..weave..lace front etc etc and my hair is destroyed..not from chemicals but from abandonment...a shame..the whole reason i went natural has been defeated n its actually worst than it was before. my korean bf LOVESSS my natural hair as do I..but it is hard-sigh-

thanks for the inspiration n i agree that being natural will weed out all the dudes who aint dwn. My first big chop was rele low n kinda desperate so i still had permed hair. The guy i was talkn to asked me was that the only option i could come up with to treat my severely damagd, already short hair. That argument hurt me bcuz the world just cant get passed tht that one straight look. Now tht im 5 months chopped, 3 months growing, i have the confidence n love my hair.

You were blessed with a beautiful head of hair that I'm sure requires work, and those of us with hair that is damaged or more challenging have even more work to do so naturals can't be lazy. I just did the BC 1 month ago on Friday 9/3/10. I love it! I love the new journey I'm on. But of course I have my moments of I remember when......so I do appreciate this video and all your videos...Please keep them coming! My support system is very small...much love

Yes it is difficult to stay natural....I relapsed and relaxed my natural hair this last january....only to regret it. I just re-BIG CHOPPed in July, and had to start over.
I'm trying to cut my hair short because I have so many split ends and my hair is badly damaged, my Mum used to make my perm my hair, so that's pretty much the resaon why, (she's not natural, and she doesn't plan on it) I really want to start my natural journey properly and share it with my Mum, but she's never gonna embrace my hair, and it hurts because I'm only 15 and I'd love to have someone supporting me on this, but I don't. My Mum doesn't understnad why I'm doing this, :/

Its sad that our natural hair will be condemned and be looked at as a default. I'm NEVER relaxing my kids hair and I'm NEVER relaxing mine. I didn't have that confidence until after I went natural and had no choice but to be short and coily. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am natural when people stare or speak to me for no reason and then I realize it's because I look different and that's okay with me!

I have been perm free for 10 years and it was the best decision I made. Plus my press was looking better than the perm. For years, I have been wearing my curly off and on because I didnt want to lose my curl texture but Im now Im wearing my hair fully curly. Im so glad they have products for black women with curly hair because back in the day they didnt have crap.

thanks for the inspiration n i agree that being natural will weed out all the dudes who aint dwn. My first big chop was rele low n kinda desperate so i still had permed hair. The guy i was talkn to asked me was that the only option i could come up with to treat my severely damagd, already short hair. That argument hurt me bcuz the world just cant get passed tht that one straight look. Now tht im 5 months chopped, 3 months growing, i have the confidence n love my hair.

nice video, sheacocoaluv. the end with your honey was too cute. i also agree that it is a LOT of work to maintain natural hair. You were blessed with a beautiful head of hair that I'm sure requires work, and those of us with hair that is damaged or more challenging have even more work to do so naturals can't be lazy. I've been natural for 18 years and my hair has always been thin, dry, & brittle. But I love coily hair so I'm committed to the journey and I enourage others to stay strong.

Yes it is difficult to stay natural....I relapsed and relaxed my natural hair this last january....only to regret it. I just re-BIG CHOPPed in July, and had to start over.

I'm trying to cut my hair short because I have so many split ends and my hair is badly damaged, my Mum used to make my perm my hair, so that's pretty much the resaon why, (she's not natural, and she doesn't plan on it) I really want to start my natural journey properly and share it with my Mum, but she's never gonna embrace my hair, and it hurts because I'm only 15 and I'd love to have someone supporting me on this, but I don't. My Mum doesn't understnad why I'm doing this, :/

Its sad that our natural hair will be condemned and be looked at as a default. I'm NEVER relaxing my kids hair and I'm NEVER relaxing mine. If I want straight hair, il get a weave and maintain my natural beautiful hair. Thanks sooo much for the encouragement, it is HARD. You have to be ready for it....

I didn't have that confidence until after I went natural and had no choice but to be short and coily. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am natural when people stare or speak to me for no reason and then I realize it's because I look different and that's okay with me!

I BC'd 3 months ago & I can say ITS ONE OF THE BEST decisions I've made in life. Thank you for helping to inspire me sista, and this video is highly appreciated. I still get some negative remarks but I notice they are from the same people and the positivity I have installled w/in myself and from others have outweighed them. I have been perm free for 10 years and it was the best decision I made. Plus my press was looking better than the perm. For years, I have been wearing my curly off and on because I didnt want to lose my curl texture but Im now Im wearing my hair fully curly. Im so glad they have products for black women with curly hair because back in the day they didnt have crap.
