Yeah i think the undertones is the best one BUT listen for god sakes if u were a true undertones u would be happy. 5 lads from derry wrote a song and its still being played by some off the biggest acts on the planet. The two songs were probably written around the same time, 1978. However, Some Kinda Hate wasn't actually released until years later, and Teenage Kicks hit the radio in '79. Its not too likely they had ever heard each other's music in order to rip it off anyway.

Besides, this chord progression is as old as fire; bucketloads of songs use it, because it sounds good.

I don't mind KT, in the sense of she bigged up the area in London that I'm from =) .. As it's for the legendary JP who put the undertones (and many more) on the map.. It's ok though, but I prefer the original.. I do miss JP though, sadly there aren't so many broadcasters who I see as avant-garde. More are needed to stop the invasion of DROSS that people like cowell infest charts with.

hadn't it been for the (live or recorded?) clapping/the percussion, this version would have completely missed the point of the original. if the public alone was responsible for the percussion sound (they stumped their feet and clapped), then kt's version is a failed attempt at recreating the brilliant simplicity the original has.

she's playing the song in C. open tuning with a capo! but to save the bother if you don't wanna go to the trouble of getting a capo you can play along just using regular chords. C,B minor and then A minor for the verse(just jumping to the B before going to the A.) for the i wanna hold her part it's just A minor and G. that's what works out for me anywho! :)
