Whats the easiest way to conquer a people. Pretend you have come to "save" them. They rush into your arms (space craft" , voluntarily to be harvested for whatever reason you want them. Whether for food , slaves, or simply to remove them from the planet you intend to inhabit.
Why would you need a helicopter or plane to make a crop circle? How would you even use one? You couldn't possibly lay out and create anything from above, you have to be on the ground to make the measurements. A helicopter or plane would make it impossible. Why would you need a lot of money? The tools used can be had for cheap and are available to anyone! There is nothing expensive about a crop circle.
