The Slavic tribes of Sloven lived around Novgorod and Kriviches around Pskov.

The founder of the Russian State - Varangian leader of Rus' RURIK sat in STARAYA LADOGA .

In 862 AD he made NOVGOROD his capital. Then in 882 AD his successor Oleg the Prophet came to Kiev with the infant son of Rurik Igor and made it his capital proclaiming it to be "The mother of Russian Cities" (metropolis).

This is how the RUSSIAN STATE was found.

All Russian Princes and Tzars until 17c were Rurik Dynasty.
