Nice video I know that MrColt45acp 's channel has the 1911 captured in vietnam he shows a breakdown of what was done to turn it into a 30cal .. I know its dated feb 24th and this might be the same video your talking about where you had only seen one.. This was my one that he had..take care hope the build is not to much trouble.
Awesome history lesson--I had no idea all the 1911 was chambered in all these calibers by various militaries and police agencies throughout history. I was under the impression that most of them were modern innovations for the purpose of competition or cost savings. Cool to know many of them were actually used. The 1911 sure is versatile. Do they not make a 7.62x25 frame/magazines? I believe I've seen factory 7.62x25 1911s--can't imagine they would sell something that won't even work.
@wcropp1 I don't know of anyone whom is making a frame that would take the 7.62x25 round. It wouldn't require much adjustment to do so, but I suspect there would be a limited interest and the ammo is almost all surplus with corrosive powder and primers.
@doctruptwn We here have an expensive 1911 with a 7.62 barrel that we found to put on it that was sold cheap obviously because the gun wouldn't cycle these rounds because they were too long, so we have to make our own custom rounds that are shorter. We are still trying to figure out exactly how much powder we need to load them in, and we have no clue because the pressures are different with it being shortened. We need to get the action to cycle without blowing up our case. We use a 9x23 mag.
Great history lesson! I loved this video doc. I am a huge 1911 fan...sadly my old Colt 1911 died awhile back and I decided to try the S&W.40cal Zastava. Mainly for the caliber...I really like my new pistol. Thanks for sharin'.
This is a project that I would love to work on myself. I picked up 3 cases of 7.62x25 but haven't decided on what gun to purchase yet. Glad I found your channel. Thanks for sharing.
You forgot the 9x23 Win. and the .455 Webley!!!
