  • That is pretty cool I found that out the hard way as well. I admire how you dodged that missle for a while. For a bit I thought it would explode and you would have made it scott free.

  • That is totally not how homing missiles function in reality.

  • great game. loved it as a child and now. for months the helicopter's song has been in my head; does anyone know the title of the song!? thanks.

  • @PSofHisWill Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner - Go check out the film "Apocalypse Now" to see the inspiration for the use of this piece. (I produced this game BTW and love that you like the music!)

  • @bendix5 oh wow. congratulations on a masterpiece of a game then. my father and I enjoyed the 2 player mode often, and this game will always carry a small piece of my soul w/ it. BTW..also beat all the levels.. and wow! some of the maps were brilliant! had to make use of every craft, and use my jeeps "floatees" oftentimes. thankyou.

  • @bendix5 Wait... you produced this game?! Do you realize how epic it is? I spent hours and hours playing this with my cousins. I'm currently looking for a copy but they're almost impossible to find. Congratulations on making one of the most memorable games of my youth! Thanks for being so awesome!

  • @XtortionB3ar Yep, back in'94 - first and only I did and the company is now making screensavers. Too bad. The best executed version of the game is the original 3DO. Playstation, Windows and Saturn were ports of that version. Try EBay - I have seen copies online from time to time. I have had people literally drop to their knees when they find out I produced the game (and did SFX/Music). It has really held up!

  • @bendix5 There are so many games out there from the 90's that were forgettable, but Return Fire was NOT one of them. It's definitely a cult classic. And you did the music... oh god, it's like standing before Jesus Christ. What was your inspiration for the vehicle themes?

  • @XtortionB3ar Gosh, thanks! The inspiration came from reading the 3DO manual. When we realized you could stream off the CD we made some tweaks to load the entire game in memory, freeing up the CD to play and cue music. We're actually spinning it during play. My background is classical horn performance and the director and I agreed that classical, would work well. I know the genre well and picked what I thought would work. Came out nicely! ;)

  • @bendix5 Just curious, since you produced this game, what are the odds you could pull some strings to create a PS3/360/PC remake? This was my favorite 3DO game back in the day and there has never been another game like this one made ever since. This game is a sleeping giant that needs a wake up call! The soundtrack to this game was the best soundtrack in gaming history, and 2 player mode had a very fun rock paper scissors type of strategy element to it. Awesome work!

  • @Eddieh1979 I no longer work for the company that made the game, but they're still around - making screensavers and productivity software (yeah, I don't know why either). You should contact them (prolific.com). As far as I know, much of the original programming team still works there. I really don't get it.
