I agree with everything you say, you might chuck Chaucer and Shakespeare into the mix. They are all testament to what has been achieved by human-kind over centuries. Personally, if I were to invite a frenchman over to dine, it would be Rameau - oh, and Rabelais.
The greatest achievement of human-kind is, of course, Brigitte Bardot.
Voilà sûrement la musique que d'Artagnan a entendu. Car il faut pas oublier qu'il a existé sous le nom de Charles de Batz-Castemore dit le comte d'Artagnan ou Artaignan comme il l'écrivait !
its my first time to hear a classical music using drums...i havent heard it in bach, wolfgang, beethoven...this is truly amazing lully can make instrument elegaNT
@leonidamilanista Lully was just as French as Meyerbeer, Pleyel, Offenbach and Napoleon. The place of birth is irrelevant. They decided they wanted to be French, they were accepted, ergo they are French. Specifically Lully, who expressedly renounced his origin, would be offended if some called him an Italian.
Similarly: Prince Eugene was Austrian, Capodistrias was Greek, Columbus was Spanish, Obama is American and Catherine the Great was Russian, regardless of their genetic origin.
@Timrath I agree with all you said except one thing: Napoléon was corsican and Corsica is a french Island so by being born in Corsica, he was french also. For the others you mentionned, you're right. But for those who would think that all great french figures aren't/weren't really french (except Napoléon, like I said), you're absolutely wrong and it would be easy for you to see french people have one of the biggest and more prestigious culture in the world...
