Wouldn't it be interesting to create songs 'native' to the decreasing standing wave of combusting instruments? You could impregnate the paper with patterns of gunpowder to create areas of gradual or rapid pitch change. Perhaps the visual aspect of the powder could also be artistically controlled a la Craig F.
