I have been reading about Sumer, their deities and other ancient civilizations, and I essentially agree except that the owl is an aspect of Inanna/Ishtar. Inanna/Ishtar is dually the goddess of life and death. She may even have 3 forms (the maiden, the childbearing woman and the hag). The owl is apparently associated with the night and the large eyes relates to either the acquisition of knowledge or a spiritual transformation.
