  • anyone who looks at this: just for ur refrence if u open the top of ur tivo u will void the warrenty and tivo wont help u or support ur box as far as troubleshooting anymore

  • do you have to do anything to the drive to prepare it? or is the tivo able to format it once it is installed?

could you put in a 1TB or even larger sata drive? is there a size limit?

    thanks

  • can it be any hdd or does it need to be a certain type for 24hr usage? if so what model number do you use can you upgrade to 2tb? thanks

  • no any but the best are the harddrives with a hi time before falier

  • this may be a dumb question but i found a diffrent series box in a dumpster and took the hard drive, looks exactly like a CPU HDD so could i potentially use it in a computer if i format it?

  • No... it's not a dumb question... and yes you can use the hard drive in your computer, HOWEVER, if your running Windows only, you'll need to reformat the hard drive as TIVO runs on Linux

  • awesome, thanks alot! i would've just tried it but the one i have now is double that size. just wanted to make sure if i stumble across another parts computer missing the HD

  • were you watching the chainsaw massacre in the back room?

  • does this work with series 2?

  • so once u have done all that just power it up and format the hdd with tivo and u are right

  • Thanks a lot for your help, though i would have use a magnetic screw driver..so the screw won't fall of your hands..

  • You uninstalled a WD 250gig drive and installed a SeaGate 150Gig drive, Thats a downgrade, not an upgrade. Can you explain this point?

  • Ya that's weird, maybe it's a faster drive and he doesn't care about space that much.

  • VicFetters:

    Listen closely, he said 750GB

  • I listened to it again, and yes, He did 750gig drive. We all makes mistakes, calm down, it's okay. I think we'll all be okay. Even micheal thought he said the same thing. Honest mistake. Which is why I asked the person to explain that point. Could have been a faster drive.

  • It appears that he is just explaining on how the change the drive out, its just a demonstration not an upgrade duh...

  • It appears that your mom must have really f^cked you with her strap on when you were a child. Why would you be saying "Duh...".

The point you make is not even relevant to what I'm talking about. Or what anybody is talking about.

So why don't you stick your dads d^ck back in your mouth and shut the f^ck up?

And read over what you typed as your doing that. You apparently don't even know how to type.

"It appears that he is just explaining on how THE change THE drive out..."

    F6cking retard!

  • Your the retart cause you just don't get it

asshole, obviously you have a hard time understanding things, oh a typo on my part

wow !! you're perceptive, If you could read

its says replacement not upgrade duh duh duh

you got so mad cause your stupid and have a hard time understanding things, may I suggest you go get your GED..

  • your college degree shows off your intelligence by the way you talk.

  • Hey, I spammed the comment from "icfetters"

  • Oh my god thats right Bryan1342 he does say 750 gig drive, all the more proves my point you a fucking numb skull CAUSE YOU DON'T FUCKING LISTEN DUH DUH DUH.

  • do you screw up the tivo warranty or tivo repair service when you open the case? Look on E-bay and there are good deals on hard drives!

  • yes, this will void your warranty.

  • Hey, You can do it anyway after your warranty period, It's like 90 Days to 10 Years, I think, It depends.

  • nice. very nice. you've inspired me.
