This is the classic "spew/vomit" method. Just get the shit out creatively then go back and make it sound good, flip the samples/patches. This guy will not keep the stock sounds for the final track, in fact this track will probably never be touched again by him once he sends it to the group. Then a real engineer will come in and make it sound good.
@thewakz Agreed! a composer is different than an engineer. Composer = creates, Engineer = makes every instrument sound good. This was a sweet example of composing a song.
lol ryan leslie is a thousand times better than him. this producer is not innovative at all. just usin the factory crap instead of makin his own sounds. hes not even scratchin the full potential of reason.
@MrReminiss but hes playin alot live instruments, like drums, guitar or a trumpet, and he seems to be much more creative than printz. i just mean, you can do more with reason than just, put in 3 thor synths and a redrum, thats basic beginners stuff.
@TurbeenBeatz Am I the only one who listened to what this guy said? He gets a basic beat going so that he can focus on writing a hook and lyric that he likes... then he goes back and works on perfecting the beat so that "people don't want to separate it from the lyric." How can haters be criticizing his use of presets when he's doing exactly what he says works for him? He got to his lyric and now he'd go back and perfect the beat. Geez people, how many hit songs do YOU have?
You know, I never see people turn on the EQ's on the mixer. Can anyone tell me why I never see people use them? Do people just overlook them? I start all my tracks off with the EQ's on.
@donlon77 You should start everything flat first, then focusing on the getting the right sound on each part (bass, beat, etc). Then you can make it even beefier by making great EQ adjustments.
ahh, so he is the artistic mastermind behind such inventive songs like 'my humps'. What a fuckin disgrace... How can he even dare to say 'hip-hop' in this interview. 'You dont necessarily have to play an instrument' - no way, are you kiddin? I thought you played it all on your trumpet...
@highvoltaged Dude, he is a musician and if its something you dont like, it doesn't make it musical and good to others. I personally dont like the song but I am a producer and sometimes I have to make things that wouldn't be my style but you know what? I do everything to the best to make it sound good and thats what that guy was doing.
@BaloneyPolice Hehehe, well i guess i dont have a single that's peaked #12 in the charts for months. Wait! I do! Im just not promoting myself cause i dont really care. And if popular = good is your analogy, then i'm not even sure why am i replying Mr web police man. (Those tracks on my channel are really not the best, i can give you that though.)
please dont forget dave aron... there is a multiplatinum dvd tutorial where he used reason to build the beat and bounced it into PT. i think here on youtube, they cut the parts out where he shows how he uses reason....
I don't know of any other music production software company that has such an aggressive ad campaign to show people that professionals use their software. It makes me think Propellerhead is over compensating for something. I mean if it's truly up to par, wouldn't its reputation get around on its own. Don't get me wrong, I love Reason but all this promoting has me suspicious.
@Telekon5 The problem with Reason is that it's not really stand-alone recording software. It's a basically an instrument used in conjunction with Pro-Tools, Logic, or even Sonar as part of a piece of music. Propellerheads just wants to make people more aware of their software and how powerful it is. You can see he's using Logic with Reason in this video. That's the idea Propellerheads wants to get in people's heads. Personally, I love Record and Reason because the two work seamlessly.
@Eviltroy2 +1...although, I feel like I should go open up PT and dig in a little further...I got Record, and now I can work much faster than rewiring, and my (underpowered) computer doesn't blink. ReWiring was always a CPU DRAIN.
I wouldnt show the imac logo on the back of your computer screen, copyright.
