The bottom line in roof cleaning is, if you are damaging roofs you will not stay in business long. Texas Roof Cleaning is the only company in Houston that does not use bleach. No bleach cleaner has lasted more than 3 years, and only 1 lasted that long. Hum? Don't use bleach and we have been in business for 7 years. Go figure... People in Houston must be stupid of something. That must be why the first question usually get is, "Do you use bleach"?
Weinersnizelz I use 50/50 mix chlorine with a sure- flow diaphragm pump.... Tarps on plants and lots of water on them afterwards this mothod has never failed me and I have done countless roofs in central Florida .... I Would recommend having an extra guy on the ground going around with you with a water hose watering any plants in very well ..... You can never have enough water when it comes to this..... Hopes this helps some of you guys.
There is no way that's only 50 psi! Look on the ground after that kind of cleaning and you'll see tons of roof granules on the ground. Non pressure cleaning is the only way. Sodium hypochlorite with tsp is the ONLY right way to clean a roof. How do you clean roofs bmister50?
J5jeffw not u again ...... Make sure to pay 100$ a month for that piece of paper ! U use a sureflow pump with chlorine ! You make me laugh ..... Mallard systems and terra clean are the big dogs in Florida how come I have never heard of you! .... Your just another yahoo with a sureflow pump that thinks that a piece of paper says you know what you are doing .... This is not rocket science. you make everything sound soo complicated well mabe your clients believe your bs but not us.
Oh my goodness, you are still destroying that roof, and taking forever to do it in the process. I can clean a 6000 sq ft Architechural shingle roof with a 12/12 pitch in 2 hours, no dead plants and no damage to the roof. Go to the Roof Cleaning Institute of Americas website and learn how to properly clean a roof.
Given the 'instant" results, it seems that there is still a significant amount of pressure. I've always heard that use of pressure like this can prematurely remove the granular surface of the shingle which would result in a dramatic reduction in the life of the shingle. Can you tell me how many PSI and the GPM of of the outflow?
Without the soap you would not see any cleaning unless i went over it many times. We run 4GPM machines and the head has 5- 2GPM tips. We run the motors at 3/4 speed. We see about 800 PSI at the pump and about 150 PSI at the tip. The travel is 4 inches...so maybe 50psi at the surface in a 1/8" beam of water. We only wash once and keep them clean with a preventative. I have some 25 year old roofs that look great. I have had some customers roofs stay clean for more than 4 years.
Thanks for the update. Having done my share of power washing and running a powerwashing business years back. we never did shingle roofing at all. the product lines didnt give much help other than either pool chlorine or bleach. I stuck with surface washing, decks and fencing. I've considered starting up again. I think the new chemicals are a huge success.

We modify ours but the head is a pitchwitch. The output is a lot of water and not much pressure. The soap does the work.
