Hummm... see I feel differently. I only see a few pieces that are actually wearable. A couple of the jackets which are gorgeous and one of the coats. Skinny jeans are just not an option, but I could see myself rocking a pair of those awesome boots. To each his own, I suppose:).
that's the thing I don't like about beyonce, lady gaga and rihanna wearing his clothes. it doesn't fit their music and style. these outfits are more dark, kinda gothic, post-punkish, avant-garde and industrial. and their music is pure mtv pop crap. lady gaga? oh give me a break, we've seen it all before...at least I have. what pugh makes is a pure art. love it!
@methylparaben But you must understand that is what is so wonderful about fashion, and GP's designs. They can be appreciated by people from ALL backgrounds. And, from a business standpoint, you can't get much better than those 3 women wearing your clothes in public or on stage.
You mean from a sell out standpoint. There is a difference.
Personal style is not something you just buy and use for your own commercial gain. Let Bjork, RÛisÌn Murphy, or Cyndi Lauper, I could see them doing it but even Gareth work is more secluded then them maybe Grace Jones could pull it off but Beyonce lol get a clue!
i understand what you're saying. but i still think that beyonce and rihanna should go back to their ugly mini skirts and bikini tops. as i said, what pugh makes is a pure art while rihanna and beyonce don't. do they even play an instrument? do they write their own songs? i'm pretty sure they don't but i wouldn't go there right now. they can appreciate his design but it's not necessary for them to wear it. cause they'll never be avant-garde or "smth new on the scene." just trashy copycats
I'm w/you methylparaben, lame pop musicians need to stick to their own pop rnb style. I like Lady Gaga doing it but not Beyonce. It was done by others looong before her time.
We live in a world where others steal the true vision of the art and use it for their own commercial gain.

When I first saw Gareth Pugh's designs for the first time I thought they were amazing but I'm already getting tired of him.
He hasn't really shown much breadth of his design capabilities as far as experimenting with different stylistic vocabulary. It seems like the only words he knows are:
i like how he played with a new silouette rather than changing his aesthetic to define the show, i think the clothes will appeal to both men and women for that reason.
amazing. sick. gareth never ceases to astound me, and thats successful business. high fashion shows what its all about on the runway and the contemporary look is created FROM THERE FOR THE SHELVES.
its called inspiration and conceptualizing. He currently has some amazingly chic tanktop dresses sold in a boutique on queen st LOOKOUT TORONTO.
they can't see the component of fashion that 's about admiring and enjoying a creative mind that is able to imagine clothes like these. it's not about wearing or not..it's about the hunger for dazzling things.

"it's not about wearing or not..." LOL oh its not about wearing these clothes? im not sorry to say this isnt an art gallery; successful high fashion IS creative and dazzling as you say but its also a business. one needs to have wearable/sellable pieces to be successful. if someone wants to create clothing that isnt meant to be worn let them take it to an art gallery, not on a runway during paris fashion week.
i wouldnt wear any of these pieces let alone invest the $ in obtaining them.
and i never said this was art. i said it's dazzling and creeative..and didn't even used the word beautiful because in fact, for me, i wouldn't wear any of these but i can certainly be amazed by them.
and the so-called art is not the only thing that can amaze someone.
clearly you cant read between the lines and/or you arent into high fashion either. yes, haute couture directly translates into the phrase "high fashion" however referencing simply "high fashion" strongly implies a certain kind of fashion, most often exampled as the likes of prada, gucci, etc etc. When one refers to haute couture they usually (almost always if they are into "high fashion" or "designer" clothing) as the seperate entity that haute couture is, which i wont describe since u know.
Such beautiful peices, its nice to see something refreshing and interesting in menswear. alot of male catwalks are just full of the same sort of clothing, but this is really something. so inspiring (:
Do i see a new Hedi Slimane? Mixing dark clothes with punk and androgynous is not my style but i think this is a new look of what John Galliano is doing to menswear.
Fantastic...! Quite new dark raven style from London night clubs. Different attitude ! It´s apparent that clothes are proper elaborated. Another syringe of fashion comes from London again...!
i watched this show at least a dozen times today and i can't get enough of Pugh.........the jackets the pants the tops they were all GorGeous in a way that was commercial and fabulously fashion foward...this was an amazing collection and i want every bit that walk down that runway....guess i need to starts saving these coins now...thx for uploading this ErichBen
God damn, that was awesome! awesome because it could become the future of menswear, awesome because it was cohesive and had a direction, awesome because it was a"look",awesome because it said "fuck you",awesome because the future of menswear should have as many options as womenswear does today, awesome because the suit at 1:09 had a shirt underneath that resembled Prada's vest thingy from her last collection, awesome because that proves my point.

Ok ok, let me just say:
-GaGa plays Piano and is known for it. She writes every single song of her.
-Rihanna plays drums and writes most of hers, and is creative director for everything she does.
-Beyonce writes all of hers.
Just becuase they're pop artists doesn't mean they're not good at what they do and doesn't mean they're not good artists.
Honestly just becuase they're not all dark and grungy (well Rihanna kinda is) doesn't mean there all bubble-gum pop. They made GP a little more known.

i'm sorry but most of clothes in EVERY fashion show are not sold in any store.
They are always turned into easier looks to sell and wear. And for your information not all art forms have to be in a gallery to called so.
