The whole "Coheed Family", if you will, is truly amazing. There's hardly anyone more talented in these days. They are true geniuses, Joey Eppard, Josh Eppard (Weerd Science), Travis Stever, Mic Todd, Chris Pennie, and especially Claudio Sanchez. We need to create another Rock & Roll Hall of Fame right next to the current bullshit one, so we can put people like this in.
If you're a guitarist who needs a change in musical landscape, and -- Joey does lessons every Sunday from 12-5 in Woodstock, NY at Planet Noise Records. He taught me the basics of his techniques for Bramfatura, Dregs, and Static (this song)...what an inspiration, and a hell of a nice guy...they've (3) been dealing with a lot of stuff the last few months and they appreciate our support so much it's ridiculous. Mr. Eppard and 3 are the epitome of what music should be.
@RunningFromSatan I need to move to new york then. I want to learn his technique so bad. How did he teach you that combination of slap+finger picking?
@superstriker00 He just asked me some songs that I wanted to learn the techniques for, and broke it down - everything from tips to remain relaxed, develop stamina, and the movements. Bramfatura and Dregs were the choices for me...then once I got the basic idea of those I was able to discern most of his other songs. It revolutionized the way I play guitar for anything. You can put a sweet flare on any acoustic song, it grabs people's attention and makes it so much more fun than just strumming.
@RunningFromSatan Sounds like a really cool guy. I've been attempting to learn his slap style, but can't really get the hang of it man. It makes me pretty frustrated.
I cant say enough how impressed I am. I am planning on taking a ride from Staten Island NY to go see thease guys. A "3" and a half hour drive and stay at a local hotel. just Great!!! hey Joey, want an opening band?
It's pretty rare that you see someone perform songs as well live as the sound on the album, but Joey seems to do it every time. His band Three does the same. It would be awesome if they could get some of the recognition that they deserve.
Proves the notion that luck plays a HUGE part in fame. I'm pretty sure he goes to sleep every night knowing how good he is though, even if he doesn't have a Bentley in his garage.
I've heard a cover of this song by a female....Oh well. It's so amazing. I cant seem to find tabs for it though. Can anyone help?? Whats the name of it by the way
He most certainly doesn't use pieces of Vinegar Hill in part 2 of this studio performance. It is strictly Bramfatura. I don't know what it is you are hearing, my friend.
I remember perfectly having heard this song some years ago in a show. Instead of Three, there was just Eppard alone before Porcupine Tree, and he played some crazy songs like it. He's way to play guitar, apart from being a lot melodic, was veeery percussive. IMHO It's near from perfection...
im happy to say ive got the chance to speak to joey a few times this year after the shows theyve played in n.y. he and the rest of the band are so great, theyve got to get bigger.
Great performer in general! such a unique voice, and uses it very well. Damn Good!!

Anyone I would take with me to be stranded with on an island, Joey Eppard, although selfish I'd so do it.

I Just checked that out and had to go change my pants. I think this man must have sold his soul for his talent.
R95482 2 years ago
Late comment but that was Bramfatura, not Vinegar Hill.
molotov001 2 years ago
its both. its kind of a compilation.
sinless33 2 years ago
wait, no your right, I had just never heard that song before. it shares a likeness to vinegar hill.
sinless33 2 years ago
Yea they are very similar, one probably inspired the other (I'm not sure which he wrote first)
molotov001 2 years ago
I think Vinegar Hill was first. It was written back when he was just Joey Eppard. Bramfatura is actually be 3 I think.
