I'm pretty excited about the Beatles' decision to revamp the Yellow Submarine film. I think it'll be great. I love the original, but some parts are kinda droning...
Yeah, Paul has said in several interviews since the 90s that the Beatles were big fans of Disney cartoons, and always wanted to somehow work with them. Too bad it took so long, but they probably wouldnt have gotten it to be in 3D like they plan to. And Director Robert Zemeckis is a devout Beatles fan, so I trust he'll do it justice, as he directed the movie "I Want To Hold Yor Hand."
You know read somehwere (don't know if it was true) that Disney was in the running to do the Beatles cartoon series before King Features won the rights(Disney was also in the running to do Yellow Submarine orginally). Would have been interesting to see what would happen if the Beatles cartoons were done by Disney, Hanna Barbera, TTV (the makers of Underdog), Rankin Bass or DePatie Freleng (the mnakers of the Pink Panther and Here Comes the Grump)
I don't know about cleaner animation, but I know if Total Television animated the Beatles, Allen Swift (who voiced Simon Bar Sinister and RiffRaff on Underdog) could have done justice to John and George, while Mort Marshall and Kenny Dlemar (who appreared on Underdog and Total Television carttons) could've donegreat imitations of Paul and Ringo respectively
Kinda fits, event though Polly was technically using a diving bell (since it had a cable connecting it to the surface,) it was yellow.
Have you thought of doing a HCTG vid to this song? "Yellow Submarine" was one of the inspirations for HCTG, and there was an episode where they were under water . . . .
The HCTG episode you're referring to is Under the Pea Green Sea. While Grump's sub was blue, the seas was green ("sea of green'). WIll definitely use YS to salute that HCTG episode.
Francis-another great vid! As always, I love the psychedelic FX.
Anna-Like Francis, say, some folks don't know good music when it comes up and bites 'em on the nose. The heck with your classmate. YOU know a good song when you hear it! You shold see if your mother has Dickie Lee's "Patches" on her MP3. That's a classic heartbreaker, too. Have Kleenex ready...
my next one is going to 'Teen Angel'. I cried when I heard that song. My mom had it on her Mp3 player. She also liked Shirlee Temple movies and the movie 'Caveman'.
So cool. I listened 2 this song 4 music appreciation, and a boy sitting next 2 me said to me 'Please kill me.' And I was laughing because I was happy. This is one of my fave songs.

So the surviving Beatles did give the OK for the remake then? I guess the best thing to do is to approach it with an open mind.

I kinda like John's voice in the cartoon. It was sooo fake, it was cute!

Doesn't RankinBass make those stop-animation Christmas specials?
MiniMaruko333 2 years ago
Yep Rankin Bass made the Christmas specials. And they also did the cartoon versions of the Jackson 5 and the Osmond.
