  • You can tell...two people are really into it and having a blast of a lifetime. The rest...are just for the ride???

  • Nikki!!!! LOVEEEEE When was this?

  • I like this way better then what she did in hairspray.

Yeah, I really think she does better then everybody else, but thats me.

  • Nikki Blonsky is pretty damn good in this role.....the rest of the cast needs some work honestly....she's the standout of this entire song....the chorus blows

  • possibly the worst singing iv ever heard from a les mis production

  • Just because they are French doesn't mean they wear Berets. Some do but most of them don't.

  • @Monkeyballmania

That's not a beret, that's a Phrygian cap. It's a French revolutionary symbol which represents the people's pursuit of liberty. It was common for the lower class (Les sans culottes) to wear as an expression of their love for la Patrie and everything it stood for.

  • I just love it

  • love it!!!!!!!

  • i dont really like this song as a duet... just sayin.. she herself is a great actress and singer..

  • ahhhhh she;s so awseome!

  • I got cast as Madame today!!!

  • West End = Cockney = London = THE BEST SHOW EVER. Fact

  • this is the best she's ever been in my opinion.

  • omg....that's nikki?!? she's insanely glorious in this number!!!!!!!

  • thats nikki blonsky????

  • @Jillybean281 Thats what i thought!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats nikki blonsky???

  • Wow! She got much better subsequently, she's awful in this. Sounds too nice and posh. Monsieur Thenardier isn't great either! But one cannot deny that it is a brilliant song :)

  • Looks like my ex wife .

  • Well it is all in English, they're hardly going to put on French accents. I understand that it could seem a bit strange but it just seems right! I can't imagine the Thenardiers singing in English, in any other accent haha

  • ooooooooooooo there's an audiance. so there's no laughing cus its shit i supose.... makes sence i guess

  • I agree so much with mmr3229--leads doing all work. the ensemble was very weak.

  • I don't know ho did this, but for an community production, this is darn good! Bravo!

Special mention for Mrs Thernardier!!!! Excellent voice madam!

  • shit as

  • it was good but i little fast

  • i dont particularly like nikki but that was really good =D i didnt think she was that good

  • thenardier was awesome! he could be in the west end or broadway!

  • omg i love nikki sooo much!! its kinda ironic that i REALLY wanna be this part and tracy! lmao

  • i agree with hicksy completeley

  • I Love Nikki Blonsky. She needs a new movie IMO

  • I think it could be better. but still pretty darn good for a high school production... well the thenardiers anyway.

  • the main actors were quite good, but the ensemble... well... yeah lets just say my small town production does it a lot better than they were.

  • i cant take those characters seriously with american accents, just doesnt work in my opinion

  • Hmm this doesnt really work with an american accent, kinda needs to be a good old common cockney london accent ^^

  • If this is supposed to be set in France, why do they have cockney accents? I never got that.

  • it dosen't make sense but, dosen't it make it so much better!

  • @TonyDuMont well you could say that about anyone in this musical...cos thery represent lower classes obv, why does valjean speak posh - hes middle/upper class duh

  • Yes, but still it doesn't really make sense that the characters' accents don't fit the setting.

  • I know! It never makes sense...they wouldn't be speaking English anyway, but it is funny that it takes place in France, yet they're speaking not only English, but with a Cockney accent. Ha ha

  • master of the house is perity good

  • nikki and the other guy did good, but the ensamble cast could of done better, they kinda seemed like they didnt care, or didnt wanna be there or somthing

  • i freaken love this!!!! i have this song on my mp3er!! i tried so hard to find hers :( and her in carmen was AWSOME!!!

  • this is just awful, where did this play? Is this a high school production?

  • i love how she goes really high on he word "ass"

  • what production was this?

  • les miserables.

  • well you don't say.

i meant, is this the london production?

but don't bother answering- i'm sure it'll just be a cheeky response.

  • "experiment", ha ha

American/Canadian, whatever, feels good to have your nationality obliterated doesn't it? what a moron,

    au revoir

  • A very scientific study I'm sure, not to mention ethical. I doubt you even went to high school. Regardless of your alleged excuses I and others remain offended by your attitude and racist remarks, no matter what the forum, of course you will be aware, expert as you are on all things, of exactly how patonising and stuck up you sound. Apparently it doesn't seem to matter to you though, with all due respect? yeah, right. Nasty little american idiot. Now go away.

  • People CHOOSE to be offended. You shouldn't speak on behalf of others.

    Regardless, the experiment is OVER.

As you sit in judgment of what a horrible person I am, might I point out that I'm not American and never said I was. Are you not guilty of assumption yourself? Or does it not matter that you would generalise an entire country when you have a point to proove?

  • She is great !!!!

  • is sweenysister really stupid???

    1) black people did exist in the 1800s

    2) Scotsmen don't come from England...they come from Scotland...which is part of the UK, like England

    3) Les Miserables is a FRENCH title of a FRENCH book, by FRENCH writer Victor Hugo

    4) North Ireland is also Part of the UK, and is the Northernmost part of the irish island

    5) Why would you use a french accent is a musical spoken in english??

    if there's a 6) i missed, let me know...

  • With all due respect I know all about Les Mis. I played Javert in high school. I'm also well aware of the countries that make up GB-I used to live there. Sure most won't appreciate this but I was interested in performing a social experiment on YT, to see if people would respond differently or less aggresively to an absolutely outrageous statement when placed in a forum regarding the arts versus one more likely to attract negative feedback anyways. Black people invented? Come on.

  • sweeney sister If I said you were from America you would presumably be rather pissed off......same for England/Scotland/N.Ireland/Wales, all different and proud people.

  • to sweeneysister

Les Miserables roughly translates as The Miserable Ones. Now perhaps you could take your ignorant and offensive comments and bad attitude elsewhere. There really is no need to be so rude and aggressive, especially when you are wrong. Oh your comment about black people "being invented" ; just appalling.

  • to sweeney sister Scotland is Scotland it is NOT part of England , the Scots will assure you of that one, Northern Ireland is Northern Ireland, part of the UK (ie, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) but NOT part of Engalnd, check out the troubles of the last 30 odd years for why this particular comment is so offensive (I am from and still live in N. I . ) Ireland is an entirely different country with its own currency and government .(the Dail, pronounced doyle). .

  • To Sweeneysister Les Mis by Victor Hugo (also The Hunchback of Notredame) is French, set in France. Cockney accents are used to attempt to portray working class people. see following comment

  • The problem with this is that black people hadn't even been invented when this takes place. Even if they had been they certainly weren't in English pubs.

  • What do you mean they hadn't been invented yet? Black people certainly evolved before while people.

  • English????

  • Yeah English-that's were people from England and Scotland come from. Maybe you've heard of it? It's called a country.

  • "Yeah English-that's were people from England and Scotland come from. Maybe you've heard of it? It's called a country. " Sweeneysister

. Les Mis is set in France, although obviously the musical is written in English for the benefit of British thetare goers, and I think Scottish people will take issue with you saying they are English!

  • I didn't say they were English! If you knew how to read! They speak English but they are still from England-part of which is called Scotland part of which is called Ireland too! Secondly if it's suppossed to be in France 1)Why do they have English accents 2)Miserables is an English word the last time I checked!

  • Scotland is NOT part of England you muppet. Its a country of it own that just happens to be part f the UK. Ireland isnt even part of the UK. But Northern Ireland is.

Also.. The show is about the FRENCH REVOLUTION. It was firstly staged in LONDON. The original London cast is world famous. Which is why its usually sang with an English-cockney accent.

And Its 'Les Miserables', which IS French. As the musical is based on a classic FRENCH book.

    Get your facts straight.

  • The only country north of Ireland is Iceland so I don't even know what that was suppossed to mean. Also...if the English word miserables is French...how do I know it's existence when I don't even speak French?

  • you seem happy to comment on everything else you know nothing about....miserables is a french word, most of the english language is derived from french or latin. also have a look at google maps re Ireland and Northern Ireland...all part of one land mass, but two different countries rather like England and Scotland actually.

  • Y'know, sweenysister, for someone in your 30s you really dont have a clue.

I suggest you get yourself an education. Or at least put the internet to good use and learn the facts before you comment.

  • it sux without the rotating stage..

  • lol i love how she got more lines in the song than she was originally supposed to. probably covering for everyone else sucking

  • This is shit. Like not just shit, but they completely killed Les Miserables.

  • i second that - did she do this in High School - bloody terrible

  • what is it with the woman starting each line ah!!

  • i agree i think that madam tinardia (however its spelled) did amazing job but ummm well nice effort everyone else!

  • wow Nikki is amazing !

she is my idol she is soo cool

    love you nikki

    zikkki 4eva =)

    x-x-x-x-x--xx--x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

  • Hi im in the bicester community college production of les mis!

    thanks for that comment

=] cant wait for our dvd clips to come on here!

  • Bicester Community College's version of this scene is more lively and more drunken.

  • I really dont like this version

  • omg she is wonderful.

she sings good like that to.

  • is this a high school production

  • it's really good, but the chours is really weak, and the ending is a bit rushed.

  • NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • whats the matter????

  • Nikki is amazing! You got to love her.

  • She reminds me of Jennifeer Saunders in Ab Fab at the end :P

    Well funny :) :)

  • She's great in the part !

  • i never understood why the T's are british, in france! haha

  • i was thinking the same thing haha

  • The Cockney accent in Les Mis is the equivalent of a low-class French accent. Since the play is in English and not in French, how else are you going to portray the speech of the lower classes in France during that time? If you did it in French, no one would understand. Duh...

  • OK you were rude. How is anyone supposed to know that??

  • I knew that. |:

  • well you're just a stinky piece of cheese. :D

  • What was your first hint? =P

  • lol i dont know but i LOVE cheese.

  • Me too. ...But not stinky cheese. ):

  • uuugh anything rotten is just gross. LOLL!

  • sneer

  • WTF are you talking about, dumbass?

  • oh look who lost all their class

  • Never, sweetheart.

  • My class is innate. It can never be lost.

  • Well your memory is suffering, just look back at your comment you fraud!

  • What did I say?

"WTF are you talking about, dumbass?" ?

How is that not classy? :)

  • lol fuck Im glad your humor came out!!!!! Happy Holidays!!!!

  • You too. Are you m/f?

  • Not til now

  • Huh? What kind of response is that? I said are you a male or a female?

  • lol I thought you asked if I was your friend lol Im a male well sometimes

  • Sometimes, huh? Well, that's kinda sexy. I'm a female. All of the time.

  • @SavoyTruffle78 I think her accent sounds more northern than cockney, it's like a mixture, but it's good. She's a good actress. :)

  • @babbagecabb I agree. I am playing Thenardier this summer without a Cockney because I never understood why they had them in France.

  • lol so funny!! u've gotta love Nikki!!!xoxo

  • WHOA!!!! Niki is amazing in this!! =D

she plays the part perfectly! XD lol this is one of my fav songs in musicals PERIOD XD haha ♥

  • My high school did this play last year-lovedit!!!

  • she's amazing...

  • Nikki is amazing, she is going to have a great career.

  • i loooove nikkkiiiii! <3333

  • Is this really a high school performance? Wow, this is amazing! Nikki has a beautiful voice.

  • indeed she does

  • she went to a school for arts or something and they got to do cool stuff like this!

  • oh this is greeeat! :P omg! hi ahleah! ha! [fyi ppl i kno youngandforever its a girl named ahleah so thats why i added it on this srry! :] ]

  • hi siera!!!! i no right!

  • Yeah! dude this is so great! :] Love it ha we should have a play like this ha and invite nikki to it :P

  • dude that would be great!!!

  • This is actually a public school, believe it or not. Our theater program is just awesome :)

  • omg! really!!!!! good god! hahaha well i new she transferd to a dif school when she was in 10th grade i thought it was a privete school cause of the name

  • Yeah, she transferred from my public school (Great Neck South High) to an alternate public school nearby called Village School, but the Villiage School kids are allowed to particiapte in Great Neck South's afterschool activities because they don't have their own theater/music afterschool program. I see how it could be confusing haha.

  • ya just alittle haha

  • thats insane! good voice.

  • I remember Mr Thenardier singing most of the song then his wife comes in and berates him.

  • The school version is slightly different than the regular musical.

  • Sweeny Todd is the cooles play and movie!

  • S.T. is pretty cool

  • Why does everyone do english voices? I recently saw Les Mis and most of them did british voices. If I recall right from the book it took place in France...

  • it does but since their meant to be speaking/singing in frenc it wouldnt make sense for them to be speaking with frence accents would it

  • I think it's an easy way to show class.

  • Vocally its good...but acting is not hard enough... they also don't look scungy enough as thenardiers are meant to look and the ensemble is lacking energy...

  • sheeee's...

    not the best at acting

  • No, she isn't. Nice voice though.

There's a chick in Ventura who's playing Mme. Thenardier in Les Mis. I think her name's Brittney... or is it Chelsea? Anyway, just thought you might be interested.

    (:

  • hmmm,

    I hear she's pretty good.

Coulda sworn her name was Lisa though.

Actually, I've seen her around; she's really pretty and pretty good at Madame.

Say do you live around Ventura?

Maybe we could go see her play together.... and maybe have some lunch or something?

    :-)

  • why does everyone keep saying its a high school performance? its nikki blonsky. the star of hairspray. i don't think its a high school performance. and even if it was, it still was definately not up to par for a girl who got the lead in one of the most popular musicals.

  • Well seeing as she made her debut with Hairspray, she probably was doing high school performances like this before she became famous.

That's probably when this clip is from

  • actually this is from her high school performance. She went to a high school where they put on huge performances like this one. It's part of the reason she transfered there.

  • She didn't transfer here.. she went to school in great neck for all of high school. She didn't audition for the shows her freshman year, though.

  • I don't think this was good at all... definately a director choice... it's not funny, at all. The punchlines are wasted and Nikki is singing in that stupid british accent... I'm sorry, what country did this take place in? Oh yeah, France!

  • umm.. you do realize that this is a high school production - it's not meant to be fabulous.

it's pretty good for a high school performance.

  • If that is the kind of attitude you have going into a high school show it will be off. I'm a high school director and directing this next year... I'll put up a video of my show's "Master" and then we'll see which is better.

  • uh, yeah whatever.

i honestly don't care, but you go right ahead - whatever floats your boat.

  • You think this is a good rendition of the song? Really? You think this is anything more than mediocre?

  • Why is Thenardier singing so... growly? xD

She could've been a lot better, considering she's famous and all now, but it's definitely above par for a school performance. :P

  • Nicki was great in this!!

  • u know it wuld be sooo ofriggen awesome beyond words if her and shoshana bean did a concert together like the meg'an sho show but the nik and sho show

  • Im not feeling this, sorry.

Both of you guys are not into it enough, try to really let loose.

  • uhh do u know who this girl is?!!!?? shes a professional actress Nikki Blonsky, Hairspray ring a bell slow one???

  • I don't care who she is. Her performance was not up to par in this video.

  • I don't like how they add "a" to the beginning of each line eg "a Master of the house" or "a kidney of a horse, a kidney of a cat, a fillin up the sausages with this and that" she was good as La Thenardiess though, I laughed.

  • i played young eponine at my sisters school production and she played eponine

  • Awsome voice she is to preety to be inn keepers wife though her skin is flawless

  • her school got to do good shows like Sweeney Todd and Les Mis. also, i thought this was a professional theater till i read the comments.

  • I heard on an interview that nikki wanted to Broadway with Zac Efron

  • NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!

Blonski, possibly, but Zac Efron could NEVER be on Broadway!

Son of a bitch could never do so much dancing and singing at the same time.

  • agh! thats nikki blondsky i never read the message till the end. well thats y she is so good!

  • i loved that. much better than some other crap on utube. i loved the harmony when everyone was singing. just great and mam. thenadrie was great

  • she was so so good. i hope she goes to broad way and is madame thenardier there

  • what high school did nikki go to?

  • i can't stop lafing when she says "shi*" it just kills me. lmfao

  • that didn't sound like it should have. I mean..ugh. nevermind. I still love it. I wish I could see her Sweeney Todd play. That looks really cool. :D

  • Wait why is Nikki doing Les Mis? And not even on Broadway?

  • its frum high school either her freshmen year or sophmore year

  • This was during her junior year.

  • no she did Sweeney Todd her junior year and she did Carmen her senior year so it had t be her freshman or sophmore year

  • no she did Sweeney Todd her junior year and she did Carmen her senior year so it had t be her freshman or sophmore year

  • I was in the school shows with her. She was in Les Mis and Sweeney Todd her Jr. year, and Kiss Me, Kate and Carmen her Sr. year. Our school does both a musical and an opera every year, and though Sweeney Todd isn't an opera, South did it anyway in place of the opera.

  • ohhhhh ur lucky u know her she seems really amazing!!!! but i have spoken to a different Tracy it was Marissa and shes sooo sweet

  • you can DO 2 shows a year, y'know. It's Spring and Winter. Winter they preform around janurary. Anyways, at my school, we did our winter regular show: The Foreigner, then right now Les Miserables. Opening night was ...yesterday? yea.

  • i think nikki is the best mme. thenardier tha i have seen so far.

  • i wish her voice had been more like this in Hairspray

it was too clean and crisp and pop-edited

  • Madam Thenardier is my dream role. She's pretty good...

  • Is Nikki English?

When she sings sounds like a british accent =]

  • No, she's not British.

    It's a fake accent.

Because Les Mis takes place in England.
