I don't know much about planes, so I asked my hubby from the living room what would happen if the fuselage on the plane just suddenly fell off in mid flight. He came over to me from the other room, sat me down and asked me if I was seriously asking that question. I said yes. He replied, with a serious look on his face, "Honey, that's like saying your torso is going to spontaneously fall off while walking into the supermarket."
I know what you mean. I was hooked on a series of this before i went spain. In the plane, on the way there, i just expected the engines to cut out or sumin to go wrong!
Bill Peacock's daughter Sally was in my 3rd grade class and I remember Bill coming and talking to our class about his experience. He told us about people getting sick from the G forces and the stewardess crawling up the aisles during the fall and breaking her nails. Glad he is doing well! I had always wondered what the full story was with this flight.
Bill Peacock IS in first class. He's travelled all over the world for the American government...So, what's wrong with coach? I don't want my tax dollars going to pay for first class travel for our "leaders."
wow this is unbelievable recovery... though some wrong measures were taken but still HATS OFF TO THE PILOT NOT ONLY THE AIRCRAFT WAS SAVED NO ONE WAS HURT..WOW...
Since when can a state of the art jet NOT fly on 3 engines and stall? Maybe I watch too many of these episodes but can't adjusting the throttle on the other engine keep it from banking?
After watching many of these, I'm honestly impressed with how cool pilots remain under such crazy, terrifying circumstances. I like how he kept reporting the plane's altitude. "15,000 feet! 12,000 feet! 10,000 feet! Emergency! Emergency!" If that were me, all I could say is "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOMGOMGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
@Ilovewestjet1 Reconstruction yes, but it's based on cockpit voice recordings and ATC transcripts. It might not be 100% accurate, but what's said in the reconstruction is pretty close to what they said in the real thing.
@MyPinky2003 okay stupid cocksucker they are professional pilots okay, they do not sit at home and wish they were pilots!!!so SHUT THE FUCK UP and say good job captain!!he saved those people, eventhough he made some mistakes!!

The plane rolled over because the pilot failed to make any rudder inputs which would have kept the plane on the correct course. This has been attributed to jetlag. The autopilot does not connect to the rudder at all so it would have not been able to prevent the rollover. If the pilot had noticed the roll sooner and had disengaged the autopilot and applied rudder then nothing would have happened.
Flying/Aviation travel is acutally one of the safest methods of travel and crashes or incidents like this dont occur all that often, but when they do happen its often spectacular and/or tragic
@chow202 Because the aircraft has been heavily damaged. the aircraft would be more controllable with all engines functioning. Also the glass is probably tempered.
@Tabby266 ok..i asked because once when i was on the plane from malayesia back to HK,die one engine, and didn t happen to us such thing like in this case ...thanks GOD! i think they must to be so scared...
"Flaying is the safest way to travel"...until it crashes. In this case, human error was not deadly but was very close. Flying and driving cars is something we have to live with but, as long there are humans, there will be accidents and deaths. We can only hope probability works on our advantage to keep us out of harms way.

the 4th engine flamed out thus putting more weight on wing the 4th one was making it bank to the right and he mus have his 1st officer hold his control column to ready disengaging ap but he didnt
why don't they say where the damn flight originated? Do they figure Americans won't have heard of the place, or wtf, why would they omit information which is part of the story? Very irritating.
yes, we do watch. I work for an airline and watch whenever I can. As a flight attendant, we are told things can get bumpy and we can be thrown to the floor, they don't tell us we can find ourselves on the ceiling if the plane rolls too much
@zhangensprachen I am a future commercial pilot with my private license. A lot of these episodes boil down to some of the things that we are trained in flight school - grade A maintenance and more-than-cautious pilot judgment are the keys to safe flying. Most of these incidents involve either bad maintenance policy or poor pilot decision making.
@fortitude3030 nice assessment. I'm sure you are polishing your junior wings right now, wearing your headset chewing gum saying, "They are doing it all wrong!" Hot tip there sport, gain a few thousand hours then talk shop, until then don't sit there and bash people and their decision making when you were not there, based solely on a reenactment, and not having at least the full qualifications as the crew of the 747 did...
@LongbowPilot Ah! Well said, you have put me in my proper place. I didn't intend to sound cocky. If you read the post that I replied to, it was someone asking if real pilots ever watch these videos. @RER94 Haha, it's confusing. China Airlines is Taiwanese (Republic of China). Air China is from the mainland (People's Republic of China). Both can be called "China" :P

@MetalicAnger China Airlines is actually from Taiwan. Check Airline Contact information C. Air China, and China NW,S, United and Xinxua Airlines are from china
@solomonpilot767 No it's not -.- It's just that people are drunk when they drive and crash. There have been many airplane accidents what are caused of alcohol..
@solomonpilot767 Sure, because its not meeting traffic in the air. If a car crash its 50% or something that u survive. If a airplane crashes its 99% sure that you die.
@M4aarc Yes, but the chances of you being in a car crash is WAY higher than being in a plane crash. So whilst you have less chance of surviving a plane crash, it's far less likely to happen in the first place. Even someone who flew twice a day every day for every work day of his/her life would be less likely to die flying than if they made those same journeys by car.
@M4aarc Aircraft are a different color of cat than a car. A car, you aren't flying 10,000 feet in the air at 250 MPH. However, unlike a car, there are no idiot drivers on a strip of pavement. There are no poles/people/whateverthefuck to it. Aircraft are way less likely to crash, so even if more people die it happens far less often.
of course all planes crashes are human error they didnt test 4th engine enough of course planes are the safest fastest way to get from point A to point B ur more likley to die in car crash than in plane ;D
@houshidar558 -- They don't do a run up on engines like they used to but # 4 was working into take off. It's not the pilots. It's the situations that make no sense. Did you see the one with entire 747 engulfed in a halo? Here, how can you lose control of a plane with 3 engines still working is beyond me. So, to blame it all on human error is unfair.
@02Tony Yes, your correct, some airlines are getting rid of this role due to advancing technology. But some larger planes, like the 747, due to weight and payload, require a third person to monitor the fuel gauges/oil gauges and engines. It's kinda sad, but some planes will always need an inboard flight engineer.
anyone know where to find new episodes? thanks in advance! i've watched very episode available on youtube more than twice now. i like this documentary series so much!
I don't know much about planes, so I asked my hubby from the living room what would happen if the fuselage on the plane just suddenly fell off in mid flight. I speak 4 different languages too,
But in your case.... In aviation English is the common language, so you should have mastered it.
So you're probably not a pilot, and if you are, I'm sorry for your passengers. Douchebag

@solomonpilot767 yes, but when it happens its terrifying :(
point6000x 11 months ago
@solomonpilot767 Sure, because its not meeting traffic in the air. If a car crash its 50% or something that u survive. If a airplane crashes its 99% sure that you die.

@M4aarc well,i feel safer flying than driving my car 2 the apt!
solomonpilot767 8 months ago

God or the Boeing Company doesn't fit in the RUDDER for no reason. I m a Pilot and i will predict that the Rudder should save the day.

of course all planes crashes are human error they didnt test 4th engine enough of course planes are the safest fastest way to get from point A to point B ur more likley to die in car crash than in plane ;D
houshidar558 1 year ago
@houshidar558 -- They don't do a run up on engines like they used to but # 4 was working into take off. It's not the pilots. It's the situations that make no sense. Did you see the one with entire 747 engulfed in a halo? Here, how can you lose control of a plane with 3 engines still working is beyond me. So, to blame it all on human error is unfair.

I am training to become a flight engineer. I originally wanted to be a pilot, but flight engineer is more suitable to me.

@specops3866
Does the role flight engineer exist anymore? I seen alot of aircraft that has removed the flight engineer role and only have two pilots.
02Tony 1 year ago
@02Tony Yes, your correct, some airlines are getting rid of this role due to advancing technology. But some larger planes, like the 747, due to weight and payload, require a third person to monitor the fuel gauges/oil gauges and engines. It's kinda sad, but some planes will always need an inboard flight engineer.
specops3866 1 year ago
@specops3866 thats old planes like 747-200 dc10, a330 a340 b777 b747-400 only requires 2 pilots

@specops3866 Good luck to you, but I hear new aircraft are eliminating the job of the Flight Engineeer
